Que hacer en Yuriria, Pueblo Mágico de Guanajuato, ex convento, laguna y cráter

Los orígenes de estas tierras se remontan a 1115 aproximadamente, cuando llegan los purépechas a estas tierras y en lo que hoy en día es el sur de la ciudad, ven un cráter con presencia de agua, un axalapasco que estaba teñido de rojo, al principio ellos creerían que es un lugar donde se realizan sacrificios humanos y por eso le ponen a este sitio Yuririahpundaro que significa lugar del lago de sangre.

Al llegar a este Pueblo Mágico lo primero que podrás apreciar es el primer convento construido en Guanajuato tal y como nos lo ha mencionado nuestro guía Julio Cesar, que a simple vista pareciera un castillo y es que los ex conventos eran construidos tipo fortaleza.

Este es un convento agustino que inicia su construcción en 1550 y solo tardo 9 años en ser construido principalmente por indigenas durante la evangelización, a cargo de Fray Diego de chavez Alvarado, consta del templo y por el convento, que hoy en día es un museo pero en estos momentos de pandemia se encuentra cerrado y una vez que todo pase volverá a abrir sus puertas al turismo.

Sometimes, when in Mexico, you are longing for a proper Ribeye steak...and you can't find it. There is help! Sam's Club or Costco will sell USDA Beef here in Mexico. Their stores are in many bigger cities. We bought a whole rib roast at Sam's Club in Oaxaca and put it to the test. Joining us are our friends Kara and Jason from the Everlanders.
