Yoshkar-Ola: Florence in the center of Russia
Yoshkar-Ola is a small provincial town in the center of the European part of Russia. Before the revolution, this city was called Tsarevokokshaisk (Tsaryov city). At the time of Ivan the Terrible, Tsarevokokshaisk was the easternmost city on the border of Russia, and more specifically, the fortification on the border with the Kazan Khanate.
In Soviet times, there were many military factories and strategic military missile units located here.
After the collapse of the USSR, the city of Yoshkar-Ola became one of the most depressed cities in Russia.

Yoshkar-Ola means a red city in Mari and was formerly known as Tsaryovokokshaysk before 1919, as Krasnokokshaysk between 1919 and 1927 (both after the Malaya Kokshaga River, which runs through the city) and Charla (old Mari). Yoshkar-Ola was established as a military fortress in 1584, following the Russian conquest of the Mari region.
It is currently one of the centers of the Finno-Ugric people and the administrative center of the Yoshkar-Ola city district.

During the Soviet era, especially after World War II, the city was a regional industrial and transport center and grew to its current size. The collapse of the Soviet Union removed support for state enterprises and led to the shutdown of most manufacturing activity in the area. Much of the city's economic activity was supported by shuttle traders who would transport (often counterfeit) goods from the bustling markets of Moscow to Yoshkar-Ola's bazaars. The sharp decline in living standards led to the emigration of specialized professionals to larger cities in Russia.

In the above video I show, how we spend the evening and where we roam. First we went to Tele 2 for recharging my phone and then we move to the river. On the river there is one love bridge, lot of couple tie a lock there for their healthy relationship. Then we move to Eurospar. Eurospar is a kind of supermarket, groceries and other things people can buy there.
