9 Things NOT To Do in Nigeria

There are many misconceptions about Nigeria, it's not a poor country, it has a rich culture and cuisine, and not every man there is a prince who wants to give you money. Although Lagos, Abuja, and Calabar seem like well-established tourist locations, there are a few things we should avoid doing when we visit.

1. Don't Flash The Cash.
Most places accept credit cards, so the need for cash is low. Avoid carrying cash if possible and if you have to carry cash, avoid showing it. Keep your wallet and phone in your front pockets and don't wear any expensive jewelry or watches.

2. Don't Make Assumptions.
Although most Nigerians speak English and almost half are Christians you shouldn't assume their culture is the same. Over half of Nigerians are Muslim and the Nigerian culture is an amalgamation of multiple ethnic groups.

3. Don't Forget Your Vaccines!
In addition to your routine vaccines, it is recommended that you get vaccinated for Measles, Yellow fever, Polio, Hepatitis A, Malaria, and Typhoid. It is also a good idea to carry proof of your vaccinations with you as you may be asked for this at the airport.

4. Don't Forget Your Visa.
Unless you are a citizen of a neighboring country, you are going to need a visa to enter Nigeria. Start the process at least a month before your trip because it is quite a lengthy process and requires a lot of paperwork. it is also quite expensive, so be prepared!

5. Don't Be Afraid of The Cuisine!
Nigeria offers all types of international cuisines but their own is delicious (it maybe a bit spicy!) try Bolli which is roasted Plantain Jollof rice and Suya which are spicy kebabs.

6. Don't say you Love Africa!
Nigeria is a country, Africa is a continent. Going to Nigeria and telling a Nigerian you love Africa is like going to Cuba and saying you love North America!

7. Don,t Go Out Alone At Night
Taking walks or going out clubbing alone at night is not recommended. Get a guide or befriend a local, also avoid public transport and book cabs in advance from reputable companies!

8. Don't Forget Your passport
Get photocopies of your passport to carry around with you for identification and only show the original at the airport.

9. Pack Carefully!
Make sure you pack some necessities in your hand luggage, hold luggage can be delayed or even disappear so to avoid spending days in the same clothes, put some in your carry-on bag. Pack a torch and a battery pack too, as power outages are a common occurrence.

The Amazing LIFESTYLE of the RIVER BENUE PEOPLE| PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA shot on samsung s10 plus

I took a canoe trip across RIVER BENUE, with friends to explore the beautiful lifestyle of the people living at the famous Benue river. River Benue is one of the two major rivers in Nigeria, the people are predominantly fishermen and they depend on the water for everything. In this video we witness a very amazing scene of which encompases the dependence of the people on the river. Within a ten meter radius, there is a crowd, a young man is seen fishing, a woman is seen doing the dishes, another doing her laundry, in their middle, an aged man is seen brushing his teeth. A little girl is seen swimming another is taking a shit. THE PEOPLE HAVE A BELIEF THAT THE WATER IS SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION AND THAT THE TURBULENCE OF THE RIVER HAS CLEANING ABILITIES. I shot this video entirely on the samsung galaxy s10 plus and the DJI mavic mini. I had my camera nearby but using a phone was the only way to gain their trust and entry into their little circle to be able to document them.

A Tour of RIVER BENUE on a canoe cinematic TRAILER || PLACES TO VISIT IN NIGERIA

River Benue is one of the Two major rivers in Nigeria. The second being the Niger river. I and a few friends decided to take a tour in a canoe across river benue in Makurdi Benue state. Nigeria is indeed a beautiful place and i wished the canoe ride never ended. We passed ''wadata'' the area in makurdi predominantly inhabited by the jukum tribe. who are mainly fishermen. Then we went under the old bridge, which was constructed 89 years ago (1932).
The bridge was built to replace the Nigerian railway's ferry service that conveyed passengers across the Benue at Makurdi. The cost of the bridge was about £1,000,000, and it was constructed by Sir William Arrol & Co. At the time of its construction, it was one of the largest undertakings by the British in Africa and the longest bridge in Africa.

Pelu Awofeso On The Road
Earlier this month, I set out on a 10-day #roadtrip with colleagues Efetobo Awhana (CEO, Nigeria Travel Week) and Hassan Zakari (President, Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN).

We set out to crisscross 8 states and visit at least 15 landmarks, attractions and monuments, among them a #UNESCO World #Heritage Site.

These nclude #museums, nature parks, resorts, places of worship, palaces, mountains and waterfalls.

This is one of a series of video reports I did while we were #ontheroad. On this leg of the trip, we drive to Esie, where Nigeria's first national museum is located

Is this the best domestic airline in Nigeria? Flight Review | Abuja -Lagos

After having my first flight experience from Lagos to Abuja, I felt it will be more rewarding to fly back into Lagos at Night to experience what’s feels like being in the Air at dark hours.

Board my flight ticket with Max airline one of the local airline in Nigeria and o boy! It was spectacular.

My flight was for 10:30 Pm, driving to the airport in Abuja didn’t come with any heart attacks at all compare to trying to beat Lagos traffic.

I had a great experience with Max air, their attendant was super nice and respectful.

The plane was comfy, spacious and almost felt like a new place (bad I didn’t ask)

Overall, Max air beats my expectations and I will give them a 8/10.

Even during the little delay/turbulent we had due to the weather, they handled the situation professional and calmly.
