Canada Road Trip: Best Things To Do In British Columbia

In this video, we share some of the best things to do in British Columbia, including the best things to do in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Kelowna, and more!

Welcome to British Columbia!

Canada's west coast province is packed with jaw-dropping scenery and incredible adventures. Home to some of Canada's most varied landscapes, ranging from desert and ocean to mountains and forest, there truly is something for everyone in British Columbia.

We explored BC from Sept 6 - Sept 28, 2017.

Canada's Road to 150 was a 150-day Canada-wide multi-media road trip celebrating Canada's 150th birthday by exploring the uniqueness of this country provincially and collectively while answering the question; What makes Canada special?

We drove to and through every driveable province and territory, showcasing Canada's natural beauty and regional attractions while interviewing Canadians of all cultures and backgrounds, including local celebrities, immigrants, refugees, and everyday rural and urban Canadians. Our aim is to dig deep into what makes Canada such an incredibly inspiring country while showing off the best of Canada's tourism to Canadians and to the world.

23 Facts About the UK That Confuse Foreigners

The United Kingdom might not seem like a place that could offer you anything more exciting than a cup of tea and some gloomy weather, but this place does, in fact, have its oddities. Did you know, for example, that Queen Elizabeth II can travel without a passport? Or that the national animal of Scotland is the unicorn? Or that from 1066 to 1362, the predominant language of England was actually French? Then let's see what else is interesting about the United Kingdom!

SUMMARY:
- Big Ben isn't the name of the clock or the tower it’s on – it’s the bell inside!
- At an astounding 443 feet (135 m) in height, the London Eye is the 4th tallest Ferris wheel in the world. A single rotation on this bad boy takes roughly 30 minutes to complete.
- The towering British Library in King’s Cross, London has lots and lots of books for you to enjoy. It’s got over 170 million items in its catalog!
- London has THE oldest and one of the largest underground transport systems on our planet. The London “tube” includes 270 fully functioning stations and at least 40 more that aren’t even in use.
- In Scotland, you can take the world’s shortest flight between Westray and the Papa Westray Islands. Get ready because this flight will take…just 2 minutes!
- Make sure you don’t stick a stamp with the Queen upside down on an envelope in the UK. Otherwise, it’s considered an act of treason!
- It’s illegal to wear an armor suit into the House of Parliament. I know, I know, it’s always been on your bucket list, but you’ll just have to forget about it and wear your armor somewhere else!
- The British drink it more than any other nation in the world. For instance, they drink 20 times more tea than Americans do!
- If you make it to 100 years old in the UK, The Queen will send you a telegram and wish you a happy birthday. You can get another one if you celebrate your 105th birthday, and still more each year after that! How thoughtful!
- You won’t find any US eggs in the UK. They’re illegal since they get washed.
- Speaking of strange laws, it’s actually illegal to go to the cinema on a Sunday in Northern Ireland. You can even be fined up to £50, or roughly $65, for breaking this law!
- In the early 1800s, just about a quarter of all women in Britain were named Mary. Sophia has held onto the #1 spot for 9 years in a row, and Mary didn’t even make it to the top 25 in 2018!

Top Restaurants to Visit in Yate, Gloucestershire | England - English

Yate is a town located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. With a rich history dating back to the Roman era, Yate has evolved into a vibrant and thriving community. The town was historically known for its agricultural activities, with farming and quarrying being major industries in the area.

Yate's history can be traced back to the Roman period, with evidence of a Roman villa discovered in the nearby village of Westerleigh. The town's name is believed to have originated from the Old English word giete, which means gate or opening. This suggests that Yate may have served as a gateway or entrance to the surrounding countryside.

In the 19th century, Yate experienced significant growth thanks to the expansion of the railway network. The arrival of the railway in 1844 transformed

Places to see in ( Thornbury - UK )

Places to see in ( Thornbury - UK )

Thornbury is a market town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England, about 12 miles (19 km) north of Bristol. It had a population of 12,063 at the 2011 Census.Thornbury is a Britain in Bloom award-winning town, with its own competition, Thornbury in Bloom. Suburbs include Morton and Thornbury Park. The civil parish includes the hamlet of Milbury Heath.

here is evidence of human activity in the Thornbury area in the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, but evidence of the Roman presence is limited to the Thornbury hoard, of 11,460 Roman coins dating from AD 260–348, found in 2004 during the digging for a fishpond. The earliest documentary evidence of a village at Thornbyrig dates from the end of the 9th century. Domesday Book noted a manor of Turneberie belonging to William the Conqueror's consort, Matilda of Flanders, with 103 residents.

Thornbury was once the terminus of a Midland Railway (later LMS) branch line from Yate on the Bristol to Gloucester main line, with intermediate stations at Iron Acton and Tytherington. It lost its passenger services in June 1944 but lived on as a goods route, also serving quarries at Tytherington. The site of Thornbury railway station and the line have been redeveloped into a supermarket, a housing estate, a bypass road and a long footpath. Further relics of the line can be seen at Tytherington Quarry to the east of the town. There are plans to reopen the line to Yate via Tytherington and Iron Acton and possibly restore services to Gloucester and Bristol.

Thornbury had a market held in the high street and the market hall. It moved to Rock Street in 1911 but closed in the late 1990s, being partly replaced by a smaller market in a car park near the United Reformed Church. The older site has been redeveloped as a community centre called Turnberrie's; the older community centre, at 'the Chantry' in Castle Street remains in active use. The old market hall is now a clothes shop.

Thornbury's coat of arms combines the arms of four families important to its history: Attwells, Howard, Clare and Stafford. John Attwells bequeathed £500 for the establishment of a free school that merged with the grammar school in 1879. The Attwells arms was later adopted as the badge for the grammar school. The other three families held the manor at Thornbury over several centuries, with the Latin motto Decus Sabrinae Vallis (Jewel of the Severn Vale).

Thornbury has a high street, a shopping centre (St Mary's Centre), two supermarkets and many smaller shops. The town has seven places of worship: St Mary's Church, Christ the King Catholic Church, the Methodist Church, the United Reformed Church, St Paul's Church, and the Hackett and Thornbury Baptist churches. On the outskirts at Lower Morton stands an independent evangelical church, Morton Baptist Church.

( Thornbury - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Thornbury . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Thornbury - UK

Yate is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, England, at the southwest extremity of the Cotswold Hills, 12 miles northeast of Bristol city centre and 98 miles due west of London. Yate developed from a village into a sizable town from the 1960s onwards partly as an over-spill or commuter town for the city of Bristol. Although not a new town in the official sense, Yate took on many of the characteristics of one.

The first part of the tour and of these videos is the small museum covering the history and life on board of the yacht.
Do subscribe using the link in the right hand corner and tap the bell to receive notifications of the next videos of this series. Links will also appear at the end of this video as I upload them.

As I said earlier. This is a great tour and you do get to see almost everything and also experience an awful lot.

The tour itself is self guided with an audio commentary which I will do my best to replicate in these videos.
The audio tour of the Royal Yacht is now translated into over 30 languages and believe it or not so are these videos !!! Well the subtitles are.
Click on subtitles in settings to choose your language.

The tour and these videos cover the Royal Yacht from the Bridge to the engine room, taking in the Queens private apartments and the state rooms right down to the engine room.

So step onboard and welcome to the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Abandoned Highway - The UK’s Road To Nowhere!

The so-called ‘Road to Nowhere’ is a strip of tarmac 1/4 Mile long that was never finished.
It was built in the 1970's and planned to be part of a highway, the road was put on hold due to rising steel costs for the bridge that would have carried the road over the railway.

Only a third of the road, which was started in 1974 and was going to connect south Yate and Badminton Road, was completed before the project was abandoned.

We take a walk along this 437 yard (0.25mi) stretch of disused road and see what it's like!
