Williams, Arizona proclaims itself as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon, attracting countless visitors who use Williams as a base for exploring the majestic natural wonder.
Williams was founded in 1881 by a man named Bill Williams, who was a legendary mountain man and guide in the Old West. The Atlantic and Pacific Railroad, later known as the Santa Fe Railroad, arrived in the area in 1882. Williams quickly developed into a vital rail hub, serving as a gateway to the Grand Canyon and a key stop along the transcontinental railroad route. The town's strategic location made it a crucial point for trading, shipping goods, and transporting passengers.
In the early 20th century, the construction of Route 66, one of America's most iconic highways, further enhanced Williams' significance. The town became a popular stopping point for travelers making their way westward. Motels, diners, and businesses sprang up along the route, giving rise to a vibrant and nostalgic roadside culture that still echoes through the town today.

1. North Carolina's Outer Banks,
North Carolina's Outer Banks are all about beaches. Miles and miles of spectacular beaches on narrow sand islands have been drawing people from across the United States since the 1830s. Stretching for over 100 miles, these barrier islands have been the go-to place for families every summer for generations whether at campgrounds or wonderful resorts.
Off the beach, historical cities well worth visiting include Nags Head, Kitty Hawk (home to the Wright Brothers Memorial), Duck, Waves, and the towns on Hatteras Island. The Outer Banks are also home to some of America's most famous lighthouses, many of which are open for tours to the top.
Another popular pursuit is deep-sea fishing. Many records have been broken by anglers in this offshore hot spot.
2. San Francisco
This charming and picturesque West Coast city is the perfect getaway destination for couples, singles, or families. Famous sites, charming streets, beautiful views, and outdoor dining are all part of what makes San Francisco such a great place to visit.
Take a cruise on San Francisco Bay, tour Alcatraz, drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, wander around Fisherman's Wharf, or hop on a street car to explore the city sites.

The south rim of the Grand Canyon, which is the most popular and most visited section, is open all year, and visitors are welcome at any time of year. To avoid the crush of summer visitors, consider arriving in the spring or fall; the weather is good and the crowds smaller. The road to the north rim of the Grand Canyon is closed in winter due to snow.

SECRET Tunnels ☀️???? UNDER Williams Arizona

As I was wrapping up my morning of filming, I happened to meet a local Williams resident who informed me about hidden secret tunnels under the city. These tunnels were built by the Chinese immigrants brought here to build the railroad. They used them as opium dens and to get around the town since they were forbidden to walk the streets.
Later, after the US passed prohibition nationwide, the tunnels were used as speakeasys and secret passages to the local bordellos.
Welcome to Williams, Arizona, located in the heart of the Kaibab National Forest at an elevation of 6,770 feet.
Founded in 1881, Williams was named for the famous trapper, scout and mountain man, Old Bill Williams. A statue of Old Bill stands in Monument Park, located on the west side of the city. The large mountain directly south of town is named Bill Williams Mountain and the Town was incorporated July 9, 1901.
Also known as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon®, Williams was the last town on Historic Route 66 to be bypassed by Interstate 40. The community, bypassed on Oct. 13, 1984, continues to thrive on tourism.
Boasting seven area fishing lakes, hiking trails up Bill Williams Mountain and into Sycamore Canyon, an alpine ski area and cross-country ski trails, four seasons weather and an abundance of wildlife, Williams offers unlimited recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast.
The Historic Downtown District covers six square blocks. There is something for everyone in Williams, Arizona. The town boasts a rich heritage that features the Old West and Route 66 coupled with tourism trends today and the town's heyday years of the '50s and '60s.
