A Town With an Abandoned Air Force Base: Rantoul, Illinois 5K.

Rantoul, Illinois is known for the abandoned Chanute Air Force Base. The field was built by the U.S. government in 1917, but the base decommissioned in 1993. Rantoul's economy suffered greatly from the closure, as over half of Rantoul's peak population of 25 thousand residents have left. In this video I drive around and check out the city of Rantoul, Illinois, and I check out what's left of the abandoned Air Force Base.

Worst RV Campground Ever // (And How we Saved our Weekend!)

***SHADY GROVE CAMPGROUND, DENVER PA***

One of our biggest camping fears came to life this past weekend as we pulled into possibly the worlds worst RV campground. While the spots were tight, the sewer connections were not and we found ourselves in a bad camping situation pretty quickly.

After a confusing run in with some of the seasonal campers, we decided it wasn't worth the stress we had to save our weekend - and in this case we only had one option. To hook our Shadow Cruiser Travel Trailer back up and head home.

Currently holding the record for our shortest camping trip (19 hours between check in and check out) it taught us a lot about vetting campgrounds, when to call it quits, and what red flags to look out for when looking for a place to camp with our travel trailer.

From Wikipedia:
I-78/US 22 enters Weisenberg Township in Lehigh County where the freeway becomes the Walter J. Dealtrey Memorial Highway[7] and continues east through farms and woods in the Lehigh Valley, passing north of the community of New Smithville. The road passes south of warehouses and comes to a diamond interchange with PA 863. Following this interchange, the freeway heads to the south of more warehouses and runs through more rural areas with some homes, crossing into Upper Macungie Township. I-78/US 22 runs between farm fields to the north and warehouses and industrial development to the south before it comes to a cloverleaf interchange with PA 100 in a business area in the community of Fogelsville. After the PA 100 interchange, the freeway widens to six lanes and heads east through industrial areas, coming to a bridge over Norfolk Southern Railway's C&F Secondary railroad line before curving northeast. In the community of Kuhnsville, US 22 splits from I-78 at an eastbound exit and westbound entrance by heading northeast on a freeway called the Lehigh Valley Thruway. From here, I-78 continues east-southeast as a four-lane freeway, passing residential subdivisions with some commercial development. The freeway continues southeast and passes over I-476 (Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension) before it comes to a westbound exit and eastbound entrance with the PA 309 freeway.

At this point, PA 309 becomes concurrent with I-78 and the freeway enters Lower Macungie Township, widening to six lanes and running past commercial development to the southwest of the Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom amusement park. The freeway reaches a partial cloverleaf interchange with the northern terminus of US 222 and the southern terminus of PA 222 at Hamilton Boulevard, which provides access to the cities of Allentown and Reading. Following this interchange, the road crosses into South Whitehall Township and heads east between residential areas to the north and farm fields to the south, before entering Salisbury Township and passing north of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest. Past the hospital, I-78/PA 309 comes to a partial cloverleaf interchange with the northern terminus of the southern section of PA 29 at Cedar Crest Boulevard before running between residential areas to the north and office buildings to the south. The freeway enters the city of Allentown and runs through woodland, crossing Little Lehigh Creek before it passes through a small section of Salisbury Township. The road heads back into Allentown and runs near residential areas, passing south of Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport before it comes to a partial cloverleaf interchange at Lehigh Street. I-78/PA 309 runs near industrial areas and passes over Norfolk Southern Railway's Reading Line before coming to a westbound exit ramp serving Emaus Avenue. The freeway passes near neighborhoods before it leaves Allentown for Salisbury Township, where it ascends forested South Mountain. The highway comes to an eastbound exit and westbound entrance with Rock Road that provides a connection to PA 145 in the community of Summit Lawn, at which point it crosses into Upper Saucon Township. Following this, the freeway turns southeast and comes to an interchange with the southern terminus of PA 145 in the community of Lanark, at which point PA 309 splits from I-78 by heading southeast on a surface road toward the borough of Quakertown. From here, I-78 turns northeast, narrowing to four lanes with the median changing from a Jersey barrier to a grassy median. The road heads between South Mountain to the northwest and a mix of farm fields, woods, and development to the southeast.

A Tour of White River Light Station in Whitehall, Michigan Built in 1875

The White River Light is a lighthouse on Lake Michigan near the city of Whitehall, Michigan. It sits on a thin peninsula of land separating Lake Michigan from White Lake. The building was built in 1875.

Some of the buildings in existence for the lightstation consisted of the tower and attached dwelling, the South Pier-head Beacon light, oil house, woodshed or storage building and Privy. It is one of four lighthouses that are operated by the Sable Points Lighthouse Keepers Association.

Captain William Robinson was the first lighthouse keeper, working there for 47 years. He lived there with his wife and thirteen children. His residence was built out of limestone, the same material as that the forty foot octagonal tower connected to it was built out of. Towards the end of his life, Robinson walked with a cane. The lighthouse is said to be haunted, with people hearing the tapping of Robinson's cane. Frances Marshall, known as the last female lighthouse keeper in Michigan, worked there after his service.

The lighthouse served as a guide to the river until 1960, when it was decommissioned. Fruitland Township acquired the lighthouse in 1966 and built a museum in 1970. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase or look at the original Fourth Order Fresnel lens. It is open to the public as a museum with regular hours posted from Memorial Weekend through August 31. The lighthouse is also open through September and October with reduced hours. The museum has a number of artifacts from the passenger and freight shipping on the lakes in addition to information on the light itself.

Originally known as Ferndale, the town was located on tracts of land originally settled by Giles Windsor (1767), Stephen Snyder (1786) and Jacob Yundt (1826). Dorney Park Hydra The Revenge POV HD Rollercoaster Front Seat Ride 1080p Steel Floorless GoPro

Hydra the Revenge (also known as Hydra) is a steel floorless roller coaster at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania (USA). It was built where the wooden roller coaster Hercules stood, which was closed for demolition at the end of the park's 2003 season. Its name is actually in honor of the coaster that stood in Hydra's spot: Hercules battled the Hydra in Greek Mythology.
Hydra is the second roller coaster in the United States with an inversion before the lift hill, after Red Devil at Ghost Town in the Sky. This inversion is a heartline roll, and is popularly known as the Jojo roll.
Hydra is also noted as being one of the first Bolliger & Mabillard coasters (along with Nitro) to not feature a pre-drop after the lift hill, a small drop before the main hill to help relieve tension on the chain in the lift hill. Rather, the train goes immediately into the main drop.[citation needed]
Hydra is also the first roller coaster to take an on-ride photo while its passengers are upside down. Riders are photographed while upside down in an inversion during the jojo roll.[citation needed] Riders are photographed a second time (not upside down) immediately before entering the cobra roll. Both pictures are available for purchase for one price.
Like Talon, Hydra the Revenge's track and supports were filled with sand, making the ride very quiet; for other coasters, earlier B&M coasters often make a very loud roaring sound.
The ride starts out by going through a JoJo roll providing a lot of hangtime. While in the JoJo roll, riders' pictures are taken via the world's first and only on-ride camera placed to photograph riders while upside down. The train makes a right turn and then begin ascending the 95-foot (29 m) lift hill. It then rapidly speeds down the 105-foot (32 m) drop and into the inclined dive loop. Then, it speeds into the zero-g roll providing a weightless feeling. After that is an oversized corkscrew leading into the second on-ride camera then into an oddly shaped cobra roll. Then there is an S shaped airtime hill followed by another airtime hill and into the final corkscrew. The train then enters a helix then a turn into the brakes and goes slowly and cautiously back into the station.
Features

95 ft (29 m) lift hill
105 ft (32 m) drop
62 ft (19 m) Inclined Dive Loop

Many enthusiasts argue over Hydra's track section. It is disputed whether the inclined dive loop actually inverts riders during the ride. Many riders claim they are only banked to a high degree, while others claim they are turned upside down during this element. This argument has yet to be settled professionally, leaving some to believe the ride contains six inversions while others believe the ride contains seven.
