Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea is an island nation in Oceania. A country of immense cultural and biological diversity, it’s known for its beaches and coral reefs. Inland are active volcanoes, granite Mt. Wilhelm, dense rain forest and hiking routes like the Kokoda Trail. There are also traditional tribal villages, many with their own languages.

Papua New Guinea is just to the south of the equator and has a tropical climate. In the highlands, though, temperatures are distinctly cool. The (very) wet season runs from about December to March. The best months for trekking are June to September.

The Solomon Islands, a nation of hundreds of islands in the South Pacific, has many WWII-era sites. Guadalcanal, a province and one of the archipelago’s largest islands, honors fallen Allied soldiers at its U.S. War Memorial. It has a small, pyramid-shaped U.S. memorial. With views over the area, nearby Mount Austen was a strategic WWII site.

Port Moresby is the sprawling capital of Papua New Guinea, a country north of Australia. The vast anthropological collection at the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery includes masks and carved wooden poles. Nearby, Parliament House is modeled on a traditional house of worship. Hikers are drawn to Varirata National Park in the east, with its resident wallabies and birds of paradise. Sky views of Wewak, East Sepik

I was recently in Wewak, East Sepik, my old stomping grounds as a child back in the early 1970s.

One thing I really enjoyed was sitting under the mango tree on the top of Wewak Hill and enjoying the cool sea breeze, and watching sunrise in the mornings, and sunset in the evenings.

My drone, my faithful travel companion was also with me, and I sent the little fella around Wewak Hill, over the ocean and into town and back, for some aerial footage of the East Sepik capital.

Wewak is a beautiful place, and the onus is on its residents, to make it even better so that tourists and holidaymakers can visit

When in Wewak Hill | Bar Trendz TV

When in Wewak Town, the capital of the East Sepik province of Papua New Guinea. Located on the northern coast of the island of New Guinea. It is the largest town between Madang and Jayapura. It is the see city of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wewak.

One Saturday evening in Wewak

On the evening of Saturday, July 30, 2022, I sat on Wewak Hill enjoying the panoramic ocean views.

It was simply breathtaking.

I sent my drone into the Wewak skies to capture the coastline along Wewak Hill and into town,

Wewak has some of the best beaches in Papua New Guinea, and can attract so many tourists and holiday makers, if properly promoted and developed.

Beautiful Wewak Pictures #1

Few photo's of Beautiful Wewak, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.

Meni Beach, Wewak

Wewak has some of the best sun, surf and sand beaches in Papua New Guinea.

They include Boram Beach, Meni Beach and Wom Beach near the site of the Wom War Memorial.

It goes without saying that tourists and holidaymakers will come to Wewak if these can be properly marketed and promoted.

On Friday, July 29, 2022, while in Wewak, I sent my drone up to capture the sight of Meni beach.

The views from the sky were amazing.

Wewak Hill (Spectacular View)

Watch and enjoy the beauty of Wewak Hill

Wewak, East Sepik Province, PNG April 2015

A short drive around Wewak Town Centre.
Starting at Wewak Guesthouse and finishing at the road that leads to Pagwi.

PNG Sepik Ambunti Wagu lake.mpg

The upper Sepik region in Papua New Guinea - upstream of Ambunti - with the wetlands until Wagu lake and the Hustein Range is an untouched landscape.
The Wagu guesthouse is situated directly at the bench of the lake as you can see in the video You can watch the bird of paradise in the morning after a short walk in the rainforest ,as you can see at the end of the video

Mathew Kaka is the owner of the guest house at the Wagu lake and he is a guide with an own motor boat and he is also the guide for hiking and watching birds of paradise (you can see them in the morning , it is easy to reach the spot in the forest in the morning -- twenty minutes by boat and hiking )

It is the big house of Mathew Kaka , he is now living beside . There are 4 rooms with 2 beds with curtains in the doors , but it is possible that more than 8 persons can sleep there A western toilet for all is beside the house
Normally all Sepik tours are organized only by driving with a motor boat from the upper Sepik to the middle Sepik . As much petrol is necessary for the long distances , so the tours are very expensive .If you concentrate your tour in the region of the Wagu lake, so you can save much money

For your support you can contact directly Mathew in Wagu
