Things to Do in Hartford, Connecticut
Hartford, Connecticut is the capital city of Connecticut, and it offers plenty of things to do for visitors and locals alike. I spend a day in the beautiful city of Hartford and explore many great spots including the Connecticut State Capitol, the Old State House (the state capitol before the current one was built), Bushnell Park, and Elizabeth Park as well as see where Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe once lived (they were both neighbors at one point).
Hartford also has some great places to eat including (but not limited to) MM's Gyros & Spuds for tasty gyros and Ichiban Japanese & Korean for some authentic Japanese and Korean cuisine.

Hartford is the capital city of the U.S. state of Connecticut. It was the seat of Hartford County until Connecticut disbanded county government in 1960. It is the core city in the Greater Hartford metropolitan area. Census estimates since the 2010 United States census have indicated that Hartford is the fourth-largest city in Connecticut with a 2020 population of 121,054, behind the coastal cities of Bridgeport, New Haven, and Stamford.
Hartford was founded in 1635 and is among the oldest cities in the United States. It is home to the country's oldest public art museum (Wadsworth Atheneum), the oldest publicly funded park (Bushnell Park), the oldest continuously published newspaper (the Hartford Courant), and the second-oldest secondary school (Hartford Public High School). It is also home to the Mark Twain House, where the author wrote his most famous works and raised his family, among other historically significant sites. Mark Twain wrote in 1868, Of all the beautiful towns it has been my fortune to see this is the chief.
Hartford was the richest city in the United States for several decades following the American Civil War. Today, it is one of the poorest cities in the U.S., with 3 out of every 10 families living below the poverty threshold. In sharp contrast, the Greater Hartford metropolitan statistical area was ranked 32nd of 318 metropolitan areas in total economic production and 8th out of 280 metropolitan statistical areas in per capita income in 2015.
Nicknamed the Insurance Capital of the World, Hartford holds high sufficiency as a global city, as home to the headquarters of many insurance companies, the region's major industry. Other prominent industries include the services, education and healthcare industries. Hartford coordinates certain Hartford-Springfield regional development matters through the Knowledge Corridor Economic Partnership.

I was only there about a hour in my way back from Wethersfield.
City of Middletown
Middletown is known as a great place for family and friends to meet, dine and enjoy the arts and culture. Downtown Main Street, is full of international restaurants, shops, entertainment and family-friendly places. Stay overnight at the historic Inn at Middletown, stroll along the Most Romantic Main Street in the country (designated by the National Trust). Wesleyan University features visual and performing arts, world music events. Lady Katharine Cruises offers excursions along the Connecticut River. Step back in time at the Middlesex Historical Society to view their extensive collections and exhibits.
City History
Middletown is a city located in Middlesex County, Connecticut, along the Connecticut River, in the central part of the state, 16 miles (26 kilometers) south of Hartford. In 1650, it was incorporated as a town under its original Indian name, Mattabeseck. It received its present name in 1653. In 1784, the central settlement was incorporated as a city distinct from the town. In 1923, the City of Middletown was consolidated with the Town, making the city limits of the city quite extensive.
Originally a busy sailing port and then an industrial center, it is now largely residential with its downtown serving as a college town for Wesleyan University. Middletown was the county seat of Middlesex County from its creation in 1785 until the elimination of county government in 1960. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 47,481. Middletown, Connecticut is considered the southernmost city in the Hartford-Springfield Knowledge Corridor Metropolitan Region, which features a population of 1.9 million, the second largest metropolitan area in New
