MAP OF HOBART [ TASMANIA ]

salutations my friends. this is a map of Hobart, Tasmania. Hobart is located on the estuary of the River Derwent in the state's south-east. Hobart is built predominantly on Jurassic dolerite around the foothills interspersed with smaller areas of Triassic siltstone and Permian mudstone. Hobart extends along both sides of the River Derwent; on the western shore from the Derwent valley in the north through the flatter areas of Glenorchy which rests on older Triassic sediment and into the hilly areas of New Town, Lenah Valley. Both of these areas rest on the younger Jurassic dolerite deposits, before stretching into the lower areas such as the beaches of Sandy Bay in the south, in the Derwent estuary. South of the Derwent estuary lies Storm Bay and the Tasman Peninsula.

The Eastern Shore also extends from the Derwent valley area in a southerly direction hugging the Meehan Range in the east before sprawling into flatter land in suburbs such as Bellerive. These flatter areas of the eastern shore rest on far younger deposits from the Quaternary. From there the city extends in an easterly direction through the Meehan Range into the hilly areas of Rokeby and Oakdowns, before reaching into the tidal flatland area of Lauderdale. excuse me. please comment if you love Hobart. continuing.

Hobart has access to a number of beach areas including those in the Derwent estuary itself; Long Beach, Nutgrove Beach, Bellerive Beach, Cornelian Bay, Kingston, and Howrah Beaches as well as many more in Frederick Henry Bay such as; Seven Mile, Roaches, Cremorne, Clifton, and Goats Beaches.
Hobart has a mild temperate oceanic climate. The highest temperature recorded was 41.8 °C on 4 January 2013 and the lowest was −2.8 °C on 25 June 1972 and 11 July 1981. Annually, Hobart receives only 40.8 clear days without rain. Compared to other major Australian cities, Hobart has the fewest daily average hours of sunshine, with only 5.9 hours per day. However, during the summer it has the same hours of daylight of any Australian city, with 15.3 hours on the summer solstice. By global standards, Hobart has cool summers and mild winters for its relative latitude, being heavily influenced by its seaside location.

Although Hobart itself rarely receives snow during the winter due to the foehn effect created by the Central Highlands (the city's geographic position causes a rainshadow), the adjacent Kunanyi/Mount Wellington is frequently seen with a snowcap throughout the year including in summer. During the 20th century, the city itself has received snowfalls at sea level on average only once every 5 years; however, outer suburbs lying higher on the slopes of Mount Wellington receive snow more often, owing to the more exposed position coupled with them resting at higher altitude. These snow-bearing winds often carry on through Tasmania and Victoria to the Snowy Mountains in northern Victoria and southern New South Wales. thats all for now. thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of Hobart. goodbye. #mapschool #maps #mapas #mapstudy #hobart

SECRET PLACES of Tasmania to visit. #vanlife #tasmania

TASMANIA WEEK 7

Gday!

My name is Meredith and I am travelling solo around Australia in my self-converted Sprinter Motorhome with my companion Emmie, the Love Bird. SUBSCRIBE for travel updates and follow me around this vast, beautiful country. You will see what it is like to live in a Motorhome, alone, what I do and the adventures I go on. I am well sunk in this vanlife community and have been watching some wonderful channels that have inspired me on this journey of self-discovery through the channels of finding your limits. Come follow me, and maybe have a few laughs, learn a little and watch this country unfold from my front window.

I was due to leave March 2020, after almost a year of renovations to the Motorhome.

Due to Covid those plans changed and although Nomadic since March, I have remained in the state of Western Australia until the end of 2020, when I intend to cross the border beginning of January. I intend to upload every Friday night at 6pm through the journey.

This week Emmie and I spend our fifth week exploring some secret sites that need to be discovered and shared…..

The Essence Of Tasmania, Australian tourism attraction

An extract from my short story,To The End Of The World
Faintly I thought I could hear the sound of the ocean not to far off in the distance, I trudged on further still deciding whether I was the great trekker or just a wandering boof-head trying to feel younger then I really was. It seemed smoother going now and more patches of sand were to be seen underfoot giving the promise of an end not to far away, the little bird seemed to be moving along side with me flying from branch to branch but now I'm sure it had developed a sympathetic tone and I believed, through my sweaty tired stupor that my little pal was now saying, your there, your there, and as I stooped low under an overhanging branch and found my backpack had caught and I was left hanging there in the middle of nowhere it was only then that I indeed caught my first glimpse of the great southern blue ocean .

#251 Ross, Tasmania: A Quaint and Charming Village Worth Exploring ????????

In this video, I visited the 'Most beautiful Village in Tasmania. Ross was first settled in 1821 as a garrison town for soldiers, as a coaching stop on the Midlands Highway and as a market town. Today Ross is popular with Japanese travellers, as the Ross Village bakery was the template for a Japanese comic series Kiki's Delivery Service.

I did a solo backpacking trip to Tasmania for 12 days. From Launceston to Hobart to the West and East coast! I was able to experience the Taste of Tasmania and Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race. Spent my Christmas afternoon in Launceston , New Years at Tullah in a shack with no reception and spent my birthday at Bay of Fires and Bicheno watching Fairy Penguins returning to their burrows to meet their chicks at night. The trip was amazing!!! Met new friends and understanding the land in a deeper level. Such an unforgettable trip!!!
