Amsterdam: De Jordaan wordt gesaneerd in 1931 in kleur!
Dit is een ingekleurde en gerestaureerde film over de Amsterdamse Jordaan bijna een eeuw geleden. Het gemeentebestuur van Amsterdam nam rond 1930 het besluit om deze sterk in verval geraakte en verpauperde wijk op de schop te nemen.
De film toont boeiende beelden over het armoedige leven in de straten van de Jordaan. Ook komen de pakhuizen aan de Rapenburgergracht, de Montelbaanstoren, primitieve winkeltjes, een scharensliep en de Jodenhouttuinen achter de woonhuizen in beeld.
Het is een misverstand om te denken dat de Jordaan een Joodse buurt is/was.

Gezichten van Waddinxveen in 1922 in kleur! Waddinxveen in The Netherland in color in 1922!
Interesting sights of the town of Waddinxveen nearly a century ago. Waddinxveen is a medium size town in the province of Zuid Holland in the Netherlands, not far from the more well-known city of Gouda (famous for its cheese and candles).
Among other, this film shows the famous draw bridge over the river Gouwe as well as the characteristic old Dutch houses and (steam) boats on the Gouwe.
Waddinxveen was established when the famous Dutch count Floris the IV sold a piece of land in the year 1233. Therefore the town cellebrated it 750 years anniversary in 1983.
The original film has been motion-stabilized, speed-corrected, enhanced and colorized with state-of-the-art AI software.

Boeiende gezichten van het pittoreske plaatsje Waddinxveen bijna een eeuw geleden.
Waddinxveen ligt aan de rivier de Gouwe niet ver van Gouda. Het plaatsje ontstond reeds in 1233 toen graaf Floris IV een stuk land verkocht. In 1973 vierde Waddinxveen haar 750 jarig bestaan.
Rain, Rain, Go Away! (9.14.10 - Day 75)
Today I headed down to Waddinxveen and downtown Amsterdam to visit customers. It was a stormy day, overcast with gushes of strong winds and rain, all in all a typical Dutch Autumn day.
After I was done I headed by the McDonald's to grab me some food, as I didn't have anything to eat all day long.
In the evening I came across a video by LeroySparklez (do check his channel!) who talked about my contest in the second half of his vlog. He wants to add some Belgian goodies to the prize which is an awesome idea, so I got in contact with him and we'll work something out. :D

Vliegen over Nederland in 1938, Deel-1. Flying over the Netherlands, Part-1 in 1938 in color!
This is Part-1 of a highly interesting film that shows The Netherlands from the air more than 80 years ago in 1938. I tried to find the locations, but the new search engine in the Beeld En Geluid archives has made this almost an impossible task. Fortunately many viewers have now assisted in identifying most of the locations in this film, as shown in the timeline and in the CC captions.
Only a few locations still need to be identified. If you can help then please leave a comment!
From a historic perspective this film has a lot too offer because a lot has changed since 1938, due to destruction during World War II and many new developments.

Alphen aan den Rijn is the capital of the area in the Netherlands better known as the Green Heart (Groene Hart). It is a green area halfway between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The city of Alphen aan den Rijn has won an EU award for being the greenest city of Europe. The city has approximately 110,000 citizens and many green areas and parks. And the river Rhine cuts the city into two. Alphen aan den Rijn has many interesting architectural wonders like the new and the old city hall, the new library, Castellum theater and the protestant and Catholic Churches.

In this video we visit the capitol of The Netherlands: AMSTERDAM.
The go through I share with you in this video, through Amsterdam, is a leg, a part of a route called the Standing Mast route. Others call it the The Mast Up Route.
That route, follows rivers and canal and runs from the South-West of the Netherlands to the Nort-East.
So, boaters who want to go the South-West of the Netherlands or to the Nort-East AND do not want or are not able to go via the nasty North Sea AND have an air draft of more then 4, 5, 6 meter or higher can, follow this route AND all bridges will open up.

I always follow this Standing Mast Route, but actualy never mentioned it.

I did a day trip to Gouda. They day was really nice, sunny and warm. Finally I visited this city on a day with nice weather. Previous visits were always cloudy, cold and rainy.
On this video I’m just going to walk the city, and show you a bit of it.

Gouda is a Dutch city south of Amsterdam in the province of South Holland. It’s known for its namesake cheese and seasonal cheese market, regularly held on the medieval Markt square. Anchoring the square is the 15th-century town tall, a Gothic building with red and white shutters. Also on the square is the 17th-century Goudse Waag, once a cheese-weighing station and now home to the Gouda Cheese Museum.

Pittoresk Leidschendam in 1914 in kleur!
Prachtige ingekleurde beelden van Leidschendam meer dan een eeuw geleden. U ziet o.a. de Vliet met een trekschuit, de Sluis, omgeving Venestraat en de Sluiskade. Een groot aantal locaties in deze film zijn heden ten dage nog goed herkenbaar. Minder herkenbaar zijn de straten rondom de (verpauperde) Venestraat die in de zestiger en zeventiger jaren voor een deel werden gesloopt en o.a. vervangen door de woontorens van De Tol. Ook de zaagmolen de Salamander komt in beeld. Deze molen werd in 1992 vrijwel volledig herbouwd op een circa honderd meter verder gelegen plek direct langs de Vliet.
De oorspronkelijke film is beweging-gestabiliseerd, gerestaureerd, opgeschaald naar full-HD met moderne A.I. software en softwarematig ingekleurd.
De achtergrondmuziek is het eerste deel van het door Henry Büsser voor orkest aangepaste vier-delige meesterwerk Petit Suite van Claude Debussy.
