Visakhapatnam formerly known as Vizagapatnam, also known as Vizag, Viśākha or Waltair, is the largest and most populous city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is between the Eastern Ghats and the coast of the Bay of Bengal. It is the second-largest city on the east coast of India after Chennai, and the fourth-largest in South India. It is one of the four smart cities of Andhra Pradesh selected under the Smart Cities Mission and is the headquarters of Visakhapatnam district. With an estimated output of $43.5 billion, it is the ninth-largest contributor to India's gross domestic product as of 2016.
Visakhapatnam's history dates back to the 6th century BCE. It was ruled by the Andhra Satavahanas, Vengi, the Pallava and Eastern Ganga dynasties. Visakhapatnam was an ancient Port city which had trade relations with the Middle East and Rome. Ships were anchored at open roads and were loaded with cargo transported from Visakhapatnam shore by means of small Masula boats. A reference to Vizagapatnam merchant is available in the inscriptions of Bheemeswara temple (1068 CE) of East Godavari District. During 12th century CE, Vizagapatnam was a fortified merchandize town managed by a guild. European powers eventually established trade operations in the city, and by the end of the 18th century it had come under French colonial rule. Control passed to the East India Company in 1804 and it remained under British colonial rule until Indian independence in 1947.

1.Kailasagiri
Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Visakhapatnam in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The park was developed by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and comprises 380 acres of land covered with flora and tropical trees.
2.Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam
Simhadri or Simhachalam is a Hindu temple located in Visakhapatnam city suburb of Simhachalam in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The central shrine was built in Kalinga architectural style.
3.Indira Gandhi Zoological Park
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is located amidst Kambalakonda Reserve Forest in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. The zoological park is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
4.Vuda City Central Park
The park is centrally located near the APSRTC Complex is spread over 20 acres and has come up on the land that earlier housed the Central Jail.There are about 20 components in the park such as a 1.5 km peripheral walking track, a sand track for jogging, an inner walking track and a cycle track. This apart there is a pre-programmed musical fountain, a yoga hall, an event lawn, conference hall and an amphi theatre. About 105 old trees that dotted the compound have been retained and an ornamental bamboo garden and bonsai garden has been added.
5.Ramakrishna Beach
Popular for its charming beauty, Ramakrishna beach is one of the popular tourist attractions situated in Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh.
6.INS Kursura (S20)
INS Kursura (S20) was a Kalvari-class diesel-electric submarine of the Indian Navy. She was India's fifth submarine. Kursura was commissioned on 18 December 1969 and was decommissioned on 27 February 2001 after 31 years of service.

Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex is situated on a hill near Bheemunipatnam about 15 kilometres from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India. The hill is about 128 metres above sea level and overlooks the sea.
