How to get to the Virac Catanduanes?
By Flight — Only Cebu Pacific offers once a day direct flights to Virac to and from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The flight takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
By Bus — Land travel is a cheaper alternative, but also longer. Bicol Isarog Bus Lines (from Cubao) and Victory Liner Bus (from Pasay) regularly ply the Manila-Virac route. Trips are usually on overnight sleeper buses, as it takes roughly 18 hours by bus from Manila to Virac.

- Plan your trip ahead especially the timing.
- I book all my accommodation in advance thru Agoda. But one of the owner of Puraran Surf Beach Resort advise that I can save by booking directly to them. Just call or message them.
- My tour guide said the best time to see the perfect cone shape of volcano is early in the morning or before the sunset. But also it depends on the weather as well. During my visit, it's a little bit cloudy. Good thing my accommodation in Albay has the best view of Mayon Volcano on their rooftop. I was able to see the perfect cone shape the next morning and it was breathtaking. ????
- If you're also going to Catanduanes from Legaspi, there's a terminal infront of SM Legaspi going to Tabaco Port. There's just an additional fee if you ask to drop you off outside the port.
- Poor internet connection at Puraran Beach Resort but the owner said that they already ordered Starlink since internet connection is one of the main feedback to them.
- There's a jeep outside San Andres Port in Catanduanes going to Virac for 50 pesos only.
- Best time to visit Binurong Point is before the sunrise. Few tourist and not sunny yet.

For my 35th birthday celebration (May 2017), hubby and I opted to go to the happy island of the South - Catanduanes Island. We spent 2 days and 1 night at Twin Rock Beach Resort in Virac Catanduanes, before heading to our second destination, Baras Catanduanes.

Calaguas Island
The Calaguas Islands are located in the Municipality of Vinzons, in the Province of Camarines Norte. It is known for its pristine beaches—the most popular among these is the Mahabang Buhangin beach, which is made up of a long stretch of powdery white sand.
Dubbed and known as the concealed white beach of Bicol, Calaguas Island in the Municipality of Vinzons, Camarines Norte, is one of the hidden nature's beauties perfect for a quick summer getaway or if you want to unwind from the metro stress.
Catanduanes
Catanduanes, island, east-central Philippines, in the Philippine Sea. It is separated from southeastern Luzon (Rungus Point) by the shallow Maqueda Channel. Farming is diversified (rice, corn [maize], copra, abaca) on the hilly, rolling land. Virac, the chief port, is on the southern coast in a lowland area.
Catanduanes is famous for its waves; however, the province has beautiful beaches with cream-colored sand and calm glass-like waters for swimming and beach bumming. Mamangal is close to Virac, the biggest town on the island, making the beach ideal for those who want a quick getaway that's idyllic and picturesque.
Tagaytay
It is one of the country's most popular destinations for domestic tourism because of its scenery and cooler climate provided by its altitude. Tagaytay overlooks Taal Lake in Batangas and provides views of Taal Volcano Island in the middle of the lake through various vantage points situated in the city.
Tagaytay, located in the province of Cavite in the Philippines, is a popular destination for both local and international tourists. It is known for its cool climate, stunning views, and abundant activities, this city offers a serene retreat from the bustling metropolis of Manila.
The Pagsanjan Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines accessible only by dugout canoe. As your boatman takes you upstream the sight of lush greenery and cliffs unfold. The first fall is 20 minutes away and at the second, the main fall the water explodes from 70 feet above.
Famous since early times, the falls are classified as a three-drop waterfall or a waterfall with three tiers. The majestic falls are fed by water coming from the Pagsanjan River (locally known as Bumbungan River).
