2021年5月、南フランスの村エガリエールで行われた蚤の市へ行ってきました。3度目のロックダウン後というのもあり、わたしも少し興奮気味でお買い物をしています。今回も素敵な食器と出会うことができました。

私たちが訪れた日は晴れてとても天気がよく、人々は買い物を楽しんだり、テラス席で太陽やおしゃべりを楽しんでいました。その訪れている人々のファッションもとてもおしゃれで、今回の動画ではフレンチファッションも楽しんでいただけると思います。

Ritz - Documentary on the story behind the famous luxury hotels
This is the first and only filmed biography about Cesar Ritz, inventor of modern hotel business.
It is the story of a peasant boy in a remote mountain area and thus starts there, in the place he grew up in, Niederwald. The film follows Ritz’ way to Paris, Cannes, Rome and London. Finally, the film ends in the clinic where Ritz spent his last days, back in Switzerland. The film features interviews with family, friends and experts: the directors of the Ritz in Paris and Rome, a follower of the chef Escoffier, and Jacques Tardi, an artist specializing in the “Commune de Paris” and thus knowing the Paris of the Ritz period particularly well.

Cesar Ritz’ story is one of personal drama: a man who has it all and finally collapses. He loses everything in the end, his family, the hotels, and his mind. Only his brilliant opus survives.
Ritz’ genius consisted in captivating every novelty in record time and in transforming it into his world of hotel business almost instinctively. The technical progress was the main inspiration of the ingenious inventor. Cesar Ritz was every bit like the fuming and effervescing locomotives of his time that pulled him across Europe, from capital to capital, to the hotels of the Ritz Company, resembling themselves huge machines.
The big challenge (and at the same time the charm) of the film stems from the fact that our protagonist belongs to an epoch long bygone. We are thus trying to revive this time with various visual aids. The atmosphere that Ritz created with his concept of the hotel business was based on illusion: in the hotel, everything is deamlike, a world apart: luxury, small and greater extravagancies, everything served to create a fairy tale. The guest is to pass from reality into hi own, sumptuous dream.
The entry hall, the saloons and the suites of the Ritz hotels transmit a special, almost unreal ambiance. It revives the era od Cesar Ritz: the Paris Ritz as well as in the St. Regis Grand in Rome (another of his hotels) have lately been restored like historical monuments. This spirit and this accuracy help to reawaken the taste, the genius and the philosophy of Cesar Ritz. In this film, Cesar Ritz and his chef Auguste Escoffier make their presence felt again today.

You wonder how Paris came to be called the City of Light?
The real reason for the city’s name actually stems from the mid-17th century, when Louis XIV, otherwise known as Louis the Great (Louis le Grand) or the Sun King (Roi Soleil), was on the throne. After a prolonged period of war and domestic civil strife, the king was committed to restoring the public’s faith in law and order. Paris is often referred to as the 'City of Light' (La Ville Lumière), both because of its leading role during the Age of Enlightenment and more literally because Paris was one of the first large European cities to use gas street lighting on a grand scale on its boulevards and monuments.
Paris is the Capital and most populous city of France with an estimated population of 2,175,601 residents as of 2018, in an area of more than 105 square kilometres (41 square miles).
Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of Europe's major centres of finance, diplomacy, commerce, fashion, gastronomy, science and arts. The City of Paris is the centre and seat of government of the region and province of Île-de-France, or Paris Region, which has an estimated population of 12,174,880, or about 18 percent of the population of France as of 2017. The Paris Region had a GDP of €709 billion ($808 billion) in 2017. According to the Economist Intelligence Unit Worldwide Cost of Living Survey in 2018, Paris was the second most expensive city in the world, after Singapore and ahead of Zürich, Hong Kong, Oslo, and Geneva. Another source ranked Paris as most expensive, on a par with Singapore and Hong Kong, in 2018.
Paris is a major railway, highway, and air-transport hub served by two international airports: Paris–Charles de Gaulle (the second-busiest airport in Europe) and Paris–Orly. Opened in 1900, the city's subway system, the Paris Métro, serves 5.23 million passengers daily; it is the second-busiest metro system in Europe after the Moscow Metro. Gare du Nord is the 24th-busiest railway station in the world, but the busiest located outside Japan, with 262 million passengers in 2015. Paris is especially known for its museums and architectural landmarks: the Louvre was the most visited art museum in the world in 2019, with 9.6 million visitors, and remained the most-visited art museum in 2020 when the number of visitors dropped to 2.7 million due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Musée d'Orsay, Musée Marmottan Monet and Musée de l'Orangerie are noted for their collections of French Impressionist art. The Pompidou Centre Musée National d'Art Moderne has the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in Europe. The Musée Rodin and Musée Picasso exhibit the works of two noted Parisians. The historical district along the Seine in the city centre is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; popular landmarks there include the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris on the Île de la Cité, now closed for renovation after the 15 April 2019 fire. Other popular tourist sites include the Gothic royal chapel of Sainte-Chapelle, also on the Île de la Cité; the Eiffel Tower, constructed for the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889; the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, built for the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900; the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées, and the hill of Montmartre with its artistic history and its Basilica of Sacré-Coeur.
Paris received 38 million visitors in 2019, measured by hotel stays, with the largest numbers of foreign visitors coming from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and China. It was ranked as the second-most-visited travel destination in the world in 2019, after Bangkok and just ahead of London. Due to the city's international recognition, a number of places around the world, such as Bucharest and Leipzig, have been nicknamed Little Paris.

La rue des Teinturiers - Avignon
La rue des Teinturiers, surnommée la rue des Aubes, tire son nom de l'intense activité industrielle liée aux textiles qui fleurissait entre les XIVè et XIXè siècles.
La rue suit la Sorguette, alimentée par les eaux provenant de Fontaine de Vaucluse. Au Xè siècle cette eau remplissait les fossés au pied des remparts avant de se transformer en force motrice pour des moulins nécessaires à l'industrie de la soie à partir de 1440. Le XVIè siècle a vu naître les fabriques d'indiennes donnant du travail aux teinturiers et garanciers, mais aussi aux tanneurs et corroyeurs.
Quatre roues subsistent et témoignent encore de ce passé.
En effet, la rue et le quartier des Teinturiers incarnent à eux seuls presque toute l'histoire de la vie populaire d'Avignon.
Vous le comprendrez aisément en vous promenant le long de cette rue ombragée et, pendant le Festival, très animée.
Au début, à l'angle de la rue des Lices, on voit une des chapelles et le clocher qui subsistent de l'église qui était l’une des plus vastes d’Avignon, l'ancien couvent des Cordeliers, un ordre religieux mendiant installé à Avignon en 1226.� Le couvent comptait de nombreuses chapelles mortuaires. À l'époque, les cimetières étaient carrément les lieux de rendez-vous des marchands et commerçants, des joueurs de cartes, des prostituées et on se plaignait même que les cochons déterraient les cadavres fraîchement inhumés.
On comprend mieux donc pourquoi certains notables choisirent ce lieu pour abriter leurs tombeaux, dont le Cardinal Pierre de Foix, premier légat d'Avignon, la famille Baroncelli et Laure de Noves, célèbre muse du non moins célèbre Petrarque.
Une petite parenthèse : un jeune lycéen débrouillard du lycée situé à coté milite depuis 2014 pour que ce couvent, lieu de l'assassinat du révolutionnaire Nicolas Lescuyer qui a provoqué le massacre de la Glacière en 1791, soit classé monument historique.
Plus loin, sous l'ombre des grands platanes se dresse la Chapelle des Pénitents Gris, ouverte à la visite. Le roi Louis VIII venu à Avignon en 1226 fonda cette confrérie qui a pour vocation l’adoration du Saint-Sacrement. La plus ancienne confrérie d’Avignon, elle est toujours en activité et chaque 30 novembre les membres célèbrent un miracle : ce jour en 1433, malgré une crue du Rhône et l'inondation de la Sorgue, les eaux dans la nef s'écartèrent laissant un passage pour que les pénitents puissent évacuer le Saint Sacrement.
Continuons notre chemin. La Salle Bénoit XII est gérée par l'Institut supérieur des techniques du spectacle. Et parmi les bistrots et restaurants bien fréquentés des Avignonnais, la maison du célèbre naturaliste Jean-Henri Fabre se trouve au numéro 14, derrière une impressionnante roue à aubes.
Puis, crénelée, flanquée de deux échauguettes et de gargouilles d'animaux fabuleux, l'énigmatique Maison du IV de Chiffre à l'angle de la rue Guilaume Puy, est l’une des dernières demeures gothiques d’Avignon, construite en 1493. Elle tire son nom d’un monogramme gravé sur sa façade dont le mystère de la signification n'a toujours pas été résolu. Mais le quatre de chiffre, utilisé très couramment au XVe siècle, est un ensemble de symboles qui a fait partie des anciennes marques de métiers corporatifs. Aujourd'hui, un peu dans le même esprit, le bâtiment abrite la Maison des Associations et se transforme en salle de spectacle pendant le Festival d'Avignon OFF.
En face, à l'autre angle de la rue, se trouve la maison de Jules-François Pernod, fondateur à Avignon de la marque d'apéritif qui porte son nom.�
Et juste devant, encore une grande roues à aube parmi des trois roues hydrauliques qui se trouvent au bout de la rue.
A l'époque, tout au long de la rue, les machines étaient installées dans les maisons en face des roues (au nombre de 23 en 1817) et mues par un axe qui traversait la rue à une faible profondeur. La démolition d'un ancien local a mis à jour un des arbres de transmission avec son mécanisme. Et si, au niveau de la dernière roue, vous vous penchez au dessus de la Sorgue vous verrez le support et cylindre.
Mais toute cette activité a finalement cédé à une fleurissante industrie touristique. Allons, prenons un verre en attendant le début d'un spectacle.
