The Devetàshka cave ( #Devetàshka #peshterà as it is pronounced in #Bulgarian) is a picturesque karst cave near Veliko Tarnovo.
Discovered in 1921 by Bulgarian explorers, the cave went a number of years without being recognized for its cultural heritage and was even used as an oil depot in the 1950s. Today, Devetashka is a protected national landmark of national and international significance and has been declared a monument of culture.

Orlova Chuka cave's name is connected with the name of the cliff where is its entrance. In the near past, there were eagles living there.

10 Things NOT To Do in Bulgaria! Part 2
Bulgaria is one of the poorest countries in the E.U. But despite its apparent poverty, its people are exceptionally friendly and is overflowing with amazing nature, tasty cuisine and plenty to see and do. However beware of these 8 More Things Not To do in Bulgaria!
1. Don't Visit Rose Valley Without Roses
Bulgaria is the biggest producer of Rose oil in the World. This is all produced in Rose Valley, in Karlovo, so you can imagine the sight and smell... However the roses only flower between May and June, and it's not really worth the trip to Karlovo if you're going to miss Rose Valley without any roses...
2. Don’t Go To Sunny Beach
You may of heard of Sunny Beach as a must visit Bulgarian summer location. And maybe that's the whole problem. It's become known for being a cheap holiday destination with plenty of sun, sand and well... drunken tourists vomiting in the streets... If you're hoping to meet a member of Geordie Shore it's probably the place for you, but if not... Stay away.
3. Don’t Trust Taxi Drivers
Pretty much everything in Bulgaria is cheap compared to Western prices.Not surprising as this is one of the poorest countries in the E.U... Perhaps due to this, taxi drivers have been known to pray on tourists, charging them extortionate prices on arriving at their destination, so be careful to check the driver's rate before getting in!
4. Beware The Weight of Food
In Bulgaria you might easily find yourself at a restaurant, staring blankly at a Menu written in Bulgarian, hoping that what you order will be enough to fill the gaping hole in your appetite. Thankfully however, it's customary there to display the weight of the dish in the menu. This way you know exactly what to expect!
5. Don’t Talk About Communism
Yes, Bulgaria has a communist past. No you shouldn't talk about it. Most of the locals won't have been brought up during the communist regime, but the older ones will have, and there are many mixed opinions about how it has left current day Bulgaria. One of the relics left by the regime is the abandoned Buzludzha Monument, well worth a visit, just don't talk about it...
6. Do Your Homework
Bulgaria is not a heavily tourist ready country. Most of the street signs and marking are in Bulgarian using the Cyrillic alphabet. You're not even going to know how to guess at pronouncing any of the road signs. Come prepared, study some pronunciations, or just install Google Translate to convert text on the fly.
7. Don’t Buy Bottled Water
Okay, this goes against everything we've always said. It still is a very sensible idea to only drink bottled water whilst abroad. But Bulgaria is known historically for the supposed healing powers of its water of which there are 225 mineral springs, and there is always a fountain nearby. Remember Spartacus? Some believe his power came from being raised on this Thracian elixir.
8. Don’t Limit Yourself to Sofia
The capital city of Bulgaria is a vibrant European city. But there is so much more to see and do in this Balkan wonderland.

А еще у замка есть очень красивое второе название Влюбленный в ветер. Равадиново Болгария - действительно магическое место и заслуживает Вашего внимания.
- Самый главный скальный монастырь Болгарии (3км от курорта Золотые Пески) - *скальный монастырь Аладжа* . Древнейший артефакт, занесенный в список 100 достопримечательностей Болгарии
- *Каменный лес* , вбитые камни, побити камни, Дикилиташ - уникальный природный феномен, возраст которому 50 миллионов лет. Всего в 12км от курорта Варна
- *Мыс Калиакра* - самый длинный мыс Болгарии. Подарит вам потрясающие виды на черноморское побережье и останки древней крепости
- *Заповедник Яйлата* - высокий каменный берег на котором сохранились древние пещерные жилища первых людей и фундамент византийской крепости
- *Дьявольский мост* - окутанный легендами легендарный каменный мост построенный турками на фундаментах древнеримского моста

8 Plovdiv to Velingrad to Sophia in Bulgaria
Istanbul to Plovdiv:
Plovdiv was a very interesting city to visit. But now I am off to treat myself to a special spa retreat in the mineral springs of Velingrad--a short train journey from Plovdiv. After a couple days of pampering, I continued on to Sofia.
A note about this journey:
On November 18, I departed Kutaisi, Georgia on an expected 2 1/2 month winter journey to Pamplona Spain. Most of my travel will be by train because I LOVE trains!
I plan to continue documenting the entire journey across the south of Europe with lots of details so you learn how I travel independently and solo! So stay tuned...

VELINGRAD, BULGARIA | 3 Nights in a 5 star Spa Hotel Breakfast & Dinner. Worth the money?
We thought it was about time we tested out a 5 star hotel in Bulgaria and what better way to do it than to treat ourselves to a Spa break. We knew we had a gruelling month of IVF transfer prep coming up so it was brilliant to have a few nights away from Sofia before it all began.
After much research for opted for the Arte Spa and Park hotel in Velingrad. Velingrad is the Spa capital of the Balkans and is known for its mineral waters and springs so it's the perfect destination for a rejuvenating break away. As well as indulging in Spa treatments we also made the most of the fantastic facilities the hotel offers and ate SO much food. Find out if the breakfast and evening buffet which was included in our package price lived up to expectations and join us as we take you on a tour of the spa and hotel.
