Today we are in the beautiful city of Nancy, France.
Nancy, a riverfront city in the northeastern French region of Grand Est, is known for its late baroque and art nouveau landmarks, some dating to its days as the former capital of the Duchy of Lorraine. Its focal point is the 18th-century Place Stanislas. This grand square, decorated with gilded wrought-iron gates and rococo fountains, rests by the ornate palaces and churches filling the city’s medieval old town.
Nancy is the prefecture of the northeastern French department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. It was the capital of the Duchy of Lorraine which was annexed by France under King Louis XV in 1766 and replaced by a province with Nancy maintained as capital. Following its rise to prominence in the Age of Enlightenment, it was nicknamed the capital of Eastern France in the late 19th century.

Plazas of Nancy - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The UNESCO World Heritage site city of Plazas of Nancy in eastern France is home to three beautiful 18th century town squares: Place Stanislas, Place de la Carriere, and Place d'Alliance. These were all developed in the 18th century by the new Duke of Lorraine: Stanislas Leszczyński, the exiled former King of Poland and father-in-law to King Louis XV of France. It's a fascinating little bit of history, and the plazas and their associated gates are all very beautiful. Let's have a closer look!

[STAN] - Le TVR de Nancy - 4K (archive)
Bonne année 2023 à toutes et tous !
Pour la première grosse vidéo de l'année, retour dans le Grand Est, à Nancy, pour une vidéo sur un véritable ovni des transports en commun : le TVR de Nancy ! Ni vraiment tramway, ni vraiment bus, le TVR était un véhicule hybride bi-articulé pouvant circuler guidé par un rail mais également en mode trolleybus, voire bus tout court grâce à un moteur diesel !
Développé par Bombardier, le concept n'a jamais rencontré de succès et celui de Nancy a tiré sa révérence le 12/03/2023 après 22 ans de service, celui de Caen ayant été stoppé dès 2017. Victime de nombreux problèmes techniques et d'une mauvaise gestion lors de ses premières années d'exploitation, le TVR de Nancy aura tout de même contribué à la transformation du réseau de transports du grand Nancy, et son remplacement, un trolleybus électrique prévu pour fin 2024, est attendu de pied ferme. Le futur trolley reprendra d'ailleurs la majeure partie du tracé de son prédécesseur.

Why Nancy Is Scrapping Its Magically Bonkers Monorail-Bus-Trams
In 1999, the eastern French city of Nancy decided to replace its ageing trolleybuses with an experimental new type of tram: the TVR. It was just like a normal tram, except it had rubber wheels, only one rail, and if wanted, it could run off the rail completely and turn into a bus. Basically, it was brilliant. So why are they getting rid of it?

Un jeune homme, âgé de 23 ans, a basculé dans le vide depuis un pont, à Nancy, dans la nuit de mercredi à jeudi a semaine dernière, après une soirée avec des amis. Il n'a pas survécu à ses blessures.
L’Alsace
Un automobiliste, témoin de la scène, a appelé les secours. Des équipes des sapeurs-pompiers et du Samu sont intervenues sur les lieux pour prendre en charge la victime qui a atterri sur le bitume, une dizaine de mètres en dessous du pont. Transporté à l’hôpital avec un pronostic vital engagé, le jeune homme est décédé peu de temps après.
