10. Casino de Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is situated on a prominent escarpment at the base of the Maritime Alps along the French Riviera. Near the western end of the quarter is the world-famous Place du Casino, the gambling center which has made Monte Carlo an international byword for the extravagant display and reckless dispersal of wealth.
9. Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque
Sénanque Abbey is a Cistercian abbey near the village of Gordes in the département of the Vaucluse in Provence. It was founded in 1148 under the patronage of Alfant, bishop of Cavaillon, and Ramon Berenguer II, Count of Barcelona, Count of Provence, by Cistercian monks who came from Mazan Abbey in the Ardèche. Temporary huts housed the first community of impoverished monks.

Vaison-la-Romaine (Latin: Vasio Vocontiorum) is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. The historic section is in two parts, the Colline du Château on a height on one side of the Ouvèze, the upper city and on the opposite bank, the lower city centered on the Colline de la Villasse.

5. Vieux Nice
Nice is a large city in France on the French Riviera. It's a popular destination for vacationers both young and old, with something to offer nearly everyone. It is well known for the beautiful view on the Promenade des Anglais, its famous waterfront, and is an ethnically diverse port city. The old town (Vieux Nice) beneath the hill is a maze of streets and alleys, with many picturesque houses, boutiques and home to the daily flower and fruit market of the Cours Saleya.
4. Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence is a small, classically Provençal town, famous for being home to Cézanne; the addition of the TGV (high-speed train) station has brought lots of vacationers from the north, and Aix has turned into a shopping town with high variety and representation considering its small size.

Remote, uneventful, but definitely no waste of time, Arles is absolutely steeped in Provençal culture. The museums are small, but have some interested artifacts. The Verdon Gorge (in French: Gorges du Verdon or Grand canyon du Verdon), in south-eastern France (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), is a river canyon that is often considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful. It is about 25 kilometres long and up to 700 metres deep. The most impressive part lies between the towns of Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, where the river has cut a ravine to a depth of 700 metres through the limestone mass.

The Roman City in France | Nimes Travel Guide and Review
So this might be the most strange and usually city in France. Nimes, located in the southern part of France is known for having some of the best complete Roman architecture in the world.
As soon as we got off the train you can tell Nimes as a different atmosphere to it. Clean streets and full of history. We imminently found ourselves staring at the ancient Roman Coliseum. Build over 2000 years ago and would hold up to 24000 people. Which is insane to think about. It's completely intact and without question the highlight of the city.
Not to be outdone though there's quite a lot of other unique and interesting things to do in Nimes, France. Next is the Maison Carree. Another 2000 year old building and one of the best in tact Roman temple in the world. Stunning and definitely something you need to walk to and see.
One of the great things about Nimes is just how walkable and access able everything in the city is. We walked along the waterways to Jardin de la Fontaine. One of the most beautiful parks i've ever been to in France. You can see the influence of Roman that was built into the park. I just wish they put some of the history signs in english...
Beyond that you can also enter the temple of Diane. A free to enter and old torn down Roman temple that's excepted to have been the library.
From there we walked further uphill in the Jardin de la Fontaine and found ourselves at the old Roman lookout. Tour Magne. From here you can visit the small museum and walk up to the viewpoint taking in all of Nimes.

Vaison-la-Romaine est une commune française située dans le département de Vaucluse, en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
Elle est connue pour ses vestiges romains particulièrement riches dont un pont à arche unique, ainsi que pour sa cité médiévale et sa cathédrale. La ville comprend des éléments antiques, médiévaux et modernes.
Vaison-la-Romaine dispose de quatre théâtres et de nombreux lieux d'exposition et galerie. Elle accueille également des événements culturels dont des festivals de danse et de chants polyphoniques qui lui ont permis d'être labellisée « Cité chorale Européenne ».
La prestation touristique à Vaison-la-Romaine : C'est la partie médiévale de Vaison-la-Romaine. Accroché à son rocher, elle est ceinte d'un rempart du XIVe siècle. Construite en majeure partie avec les pierres de l'ancienne cité romaine, ses ruelles pavées nous font découvrir des trésors d'architecture. De calade en calade, il faut voir les belles façades des XVIe et XVIIe, le campanile en fer forgé et la Tour du Beffroi.

Classified as a Historic Monument, the Roman single-arch bridge that spans the Ouvèze and connects the city center with the upper town is another testament to this rich ancient past.
Vaison-la-Romaine also has a medieval heritage that is still very present, which you can explore by strolling through the upper town after crossing the Roman bridge. This picturesque quarter perched on a cliff is protected by a double defensive wall and a fortified gate with a belfry symbolizing the entrance to the medieval city.

Vaison la Romaine has almost everything you'd think a village in Provence should have; Roman ruins, an old medieval town, a castle on a hill, narrow streets, vibrant colours, galleries and wine.
The town is split in two by the Ouveze river and it's worth visiting both especially on Thursdays and Saturdays during the summer when the town is host to a huge market.
It's easy to spend a day wander around the town and relaxing in a cafe or ice cream parlour but if you are feeling energetic then the mighty Mont Ventoux is just 30km away and perfect challenge for fans of the tour de france or anyone looking to get some fresh air.

Nach der Anreise über die Schweiz erreichen wir am 2. Tag unseres Roadtrips in die Provence das erste Städtchen der Provence - Nyons. Begeistert sind wir am 3. Tag vom Ort Vaison-la-Romaine mit seiner mittelalterlichen Oberstadt. Dort macht das Bummeln durch die alten Gassen wirklich riesigen Spaß und es kommt französisches Feeling auf.
