Maastricht Limburgish (incl. Maastrichtian): Mestreech French: Maestricht (archaic); Spanish: Mastrique (archaic)) is a city and a municipality in the southeast of the Netherlands. It is the capital and largest city of the province of Limburg, as well as the largest city in the historical duchy of Limburg, that today spans the Netherlands and Belgium.
Maastricht is located on both sides of the Meuse river (Dutch: Maas), at the point where the Jeker River joins it.
Maastricht developed from a Roman settlement to a Medieval religious centre, a garrison town and an early industrial city. Today, Maastricht is well-regarded as an affluent cultural center. Maastricht has 1677 national heritage sites (Rijksmonumenten), which is the second highest number in a Dutch town, after Amsterdam. It has become known, by way of the Maastricht Treaty, as the birthplace of the European Union, European citizenship, and the single European currency, the euro. The Highest View Point Netherlands Three Countries Point Vaalserberg Germany Belgium Dutch Mountains
The Vaalserberg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvaːlsərˌbɛr(ə)x], Ripuarian: Volserberg [ˈvɔlsəʀˌbæʀ˦(ə)ç])[tone?] is a hill with a height of 322.4 metres (1,058 ft)[1] above NAP and is the highest point in the European part of the Netherlands, also known as Dutch Mountains. The Vaalserberg is located in the province of Limburg, at the south-easternmost edge of the country, near the town of Vaals (after which it is named).
Mount Scenery on the island of Saba, which is in the Caribbean part of the Netherlands, replaced Vaalserberg as the highest point in the Netherlands, following the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010.
The Vaalserberg is also the location of the tripoint between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and so its summit is called the Drielandenpunt (three country point) in Dutch, Dreiländereck (three country corner) in German and Trois Frontières (three borders) in French.
On the Belgian side, the tripoint borders the region of Wallonia, including both the regular French-speaking area and the smaller German-speaking area. The German side falls within the city limits of Aachen in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Between 1830 and 1919, the summit was a quadripoint, also bordering Neutral Moresnet, which is now part of Belgium's German-speaking area.
Four-borders road
The road leading up to this point on the Dutch side is called the Viergrenzenweg (four borders way), probably because of the territory of Moresnet. The names of the roads in Belgium (Route des Trois Bornes) and Germany (Dreiländerweg) refer to only three.[2]
Along the road on the Dutch side is the 35 metres (115 ft) Wilhelminatoren observation tower, with a restaurant and forest trails. The present tower officially opened on 7 October 2011 and features a lift and a glass floor. The first tower at the site was built in 1905 during the reign of its namesake, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, and was demolished in 1945. The second 20 metres (66 ft) tower opened on 11 August 1951 and was demolished over the winter of 2010–2011 because of its poor condition and high maintenance requirements

Mountains in Holland? Around Vaals and the 'Drielandenpunt' (border triangle) in Zuid-Limburg you will find some steep hills, big fun on the bicycle! A touch of Switzerland and Italy. Brown cows, a glassblower and a church filled with statues of saints. Cycle in the lowest gear, and you will be able to fight those hills! The Drielandenpunt near Vaals is a three-country point where the borders between Netherlands , Belgium and Germany meet. The point is located near the top of the Vaalserberg on the border of the municipalities of Vaals ( Dutch Limburg ), Blieberg and Kelmis (both in the Belgian province of Liège ) and Aachen (in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia ).
It was an amazing and unique experience for us. The place is well maintained and full of fun as it is one of the tourists attractions for all the three countries.
it is recommended to visit this place before 12 o'clock in morning in order to avoid rush to take photos at the point.

Yes, YourTravelBlogger got lost in a real maze for nearly two hours! They say the Labyrinth near Drielandenpunt (a/k/a Three Country Point) takes 45 minutes but I'm telling you, plan for a longer stay. Yes, we did have a little too much fun in the maze and this might have slowed us down a bit, but its simplistic design is very deceiving. Be sure to heed caution when walking through the waterways as well! As you can see, some shots in my travel music video have little dots of water on my lens... YOU WILL GET WET!
Tourists, another fun thing to note is that this Dutch Labyrinth allows dogs when on a leash! If I would have brought my travel dog, Mia, I wonder how fast her little nose would have found the exit.
