This attractive palace (Nayak Mahal Palace) is located 2 kilometres from the Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai's main centre. The Thirumalai Nayak Mahal palace was constructed in the 16th century by the Thirumalai Nayak monarch. The edifice that can still be seen was King Nayak's house, and his throne has been preserved for exhibition. The Nayak Mahal palace was divided into two sections: Swarga Vilasam and Ranga Vilasam. The royal residence, shrine, apartments, theatre, royal bandstand, armoury, pond, and garden are all divided into these two divisions. The entire palace is built in Italian architecture, which is sure to wow anyone who visits. This is the ideal location for history buffs and architecture enthusiasts.
