Uthai Thani (อุทัยธานี) is the main city in the Province of that name in Lower Northern Thailand.
Uthai Thani is a province abundant in natural resources, such as forests and wildlife. Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Reserve was proclaimed a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site on 13 December 1991. The reserve has jungles, forests, plains, many streams, and most importantly, number of rare and endangered animals.
Due to the verdant nature of the area, Uthai Thani is a province with unspoiled natural tourist destinations that are of interest to tourist everywhere. Furthermore, visitors can see the different lifestyles of locals, such as the life of raft residents on Sakae Krang River, a waterway that aided the birth of the province and which has been a lifeline for its people since ancient times. It is also where provincial trading has flourished. Life revolving around the river eventually grew from a community into the major province that it is today.
The most striking indication of the bond between the people and the river since the old days is that in 1906, when King Rama V visited Northern provinces and stayed in Sakae Krang village, the monk Phra Khru Uthai Tham Nithet (Chan) built 2 twin rafts to receive the king. This clearly showed the importance of the river and the lifestyle of the people living off it in that period.
In addition, at the end of the Buddhist Lent, Buddhists from all directions congregate in the province for a major merit-making tradition called Tak Bat Thewo at the foot of Khao Sakae Krang at Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri. This festival has been held in Uthai Thani since ancient times.
Wat Taa Sung (วัดท่าซุง)
This interesting Temple is some 10 Km along the road towards Manorom. It is quite famous in Thailand and really beautiful inside. There is very much crystal which makes the Temple really shine, and because of all the reflection, it appears to continue forever. Opening hours are restricted 9am to 11.30, and 2pm till 4pm.

In today's video we are going to leave Bangkok city and ride to Uthai Thani province (through Suphan Buri), which has many unspoiled natural sites. It is a loved destination for camping travelers and for those who love mountain landscapes. Today I'm heading to what could be Thailand's most underrated province, Uthai Thani for an unforgettable boat ride up the Sakae River as well as sampling the excellent local Thai food on offer.
I'm going to show you a Khao Kluk Kapi, a Thai rice salad, for the first time ever as well as visiting the most famous street food restaurant in Uthai Thani town. We then get some street food from the Uthai Thani Walking street which is such a friendly, fun little street (that's only on weekends).

Secret JUNGLE VALLEY in Stunningly Beautiful UTHAI THANI Province
Today, we're deep in the stunningly beautiful province Uthai Thani in a hidden ancient dinosaur valley. About 25 years ago, a monk went climbing; to place a prayer flag at the peak of the mountain. When he looked down he saw not one, but two sink hole/gorges within the mountain. Therein lies a tropical paradise with huge ferns and some flora and fauna that is only found there. There are also elongated tortoises and the rather feisty national bird of Thailand; the Siamese Firetail Pheasant!
This beautiful little corner of Uthai Thani Province is fantastic and I could easily stay and while away a week. The jaunt today is in preparation for the next video - one that crosses off something from my bucket list (not that I have one really; I just go and do stuff).

50 Baht Boat Tour on the Sakae Krang River - Uthai Thani Thailand 2023
In this video we take a boat ride through the Thai countryside from south of Uthai Thani, near Wat Tha Sung. The tour is designed to allow you to see the floating communities along the river. It’s tradition in this area to build floating houses on the river that allows them to farm fish and aquatic plants to sell in the local markets. In this video you get to see the Thai countryside and experience life along the river. The price of the tour was 50 per person and a great value for the experience.
There is another tour that leaves from the pier downtown but I didn’t find it until we were leaving the area. I posted a picture of the phone number for it in the video. It’s another option and doesn’t require traveling south to this pier.
