The spa town of Evaux les Bains
In this video clip, come and discover the mighty rise of thermalism in Evaux-les-Bains! A traditional activity that characterises the town, thermalism in particular has influenced the development of the town and its architecture in the 19th century.
The square in front of the church of Evaux-les-Bains carries the name and the bust sculpture of Armand Fourot, who largely contributed to the rise of thermalism in the city in the 19th century First, he was mayor of the town, then general counsellor and finally MP of the Creuse region. He was also behind the Paris-Ussel railway line initiative, which served Evaux thanks to the construction of the Tardes Viaduct.
From 1831, the formation of a bathing club or Société des Bains, the construction of a part of the modern-day spa facilities, and then of the Grand Hotel a few years later, brought new economic activity to Evaux.
It was later on in history from 1885, with the inauguration of the railroad and the station, that the spa therapy of Evaux enjoyed its glory days with the arrival of the train and its coaches of travellers in search of treatment!
This mighty rise of thermalism naturally influenced the landscape and the architecture of the town. Multiple hotels were built to accommodate the flood of people taking to the waters: the Grand Hotel de la Fontaine is a perfect example.
From 1850 onwards, some of the spa's faithful following wanted a pied à terre of their own in Evaux. They had villas built in keeping with the aesthetic style of spa architecture, characterised in particular by the use of red and white bricks, sometimes using yellow too, in alternating geometric patterns. Little by little, these large multicoloured houses with large openings of various shapes began to appear in the once medieval town centre. Many feature balconies with wrought iron or cast iron railings in the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Their front doors are protected by elegant awnings and their overhanging roofs supported by wooden brackets give them a charming finish.

Résumé :
Turenne, classé parmi les Plus Beaux Villages de France et situé au sud de Brive, porte le nom d’une puissante vicomté ayant régné sur le Limousin, le Périgord et le Quercy durant dix siècles.
Installé sur un promontoire, le village de Turenne et sa région bénéficièrent de privilèges capitaux. Suite au remariage d’Aliénor d’Aquitaine avec le futur roi d’Angleterre, une guerre franco-anglaise déchira la région durant trois siècles. Saint Louis, pour garder un pied français dans cette partie « anglaise », décida de donner au vicomte de Turenne des droits régaliens qui firent de la vicomté un Etat dans l’Etat. Turenne fut aussi un refuge pour les protestants durant les guerres de religion.
Turenne conserve de nombreuses traces de son histoire. En empruntant les ruelles étroites et abruptes de Turenne, le visiteur voit encore flotter les drapeaux de cette célèbre vicomté. Les maisons nobles aux toits de lauzes ou d’ardoises et coiffées de tours en poivrière, s’étalent de la partie ancienne du XIIIème siècle jusqu’à la partie plus moderne qui date du XVIIIème.

#Voyages : La montée aux Orgues (Bort les Orgues), France
Bonjour les amis,
Les orgues dominent la ville de Bort 350 mètres plus haut offrant chaque matin un nouveau visage. Un jour, un léger voile brumeux joue à cache cache avec les formes, un jour elles sont éclatantes sous le soleil encore oblique, un autre elles se refusent au regard comme effacées par les nuages.
Elles ont leur part de légende. On raconte que certains voyageurs venant de Paris dans les trains à vapeurs qui filaient vers la Méditerranée entendaient le chant des Orgues en s'engouffrant dans la vallée. Elles s'étendent sur près de 2km et la hauteur des tuyaux d'orgues peut atteindre la hauteur impressionnante de 80 mètres.
Aujourd'hui la route permet de monter sans peine jusqu'au Belvédère. On y découvre une vue sur près de 80km avec à gauche le massif du Sancy (1 885 m), en face l'Artense et en portant le regard plus à droite, le massif cantalien avec le Puy Mary et le Plomb du cantal (1 855 mètres).
Nous avons raté la grotte à pied, mais je vous laisse ci-dessous 2 articles pour en savoir un petit peu plus sur ce magnifique lieu.
Il y aura une 2ème partie sur le barrage de Bort les Orgues.

VL3 flight from Château de Bournizeaux (south of the Loire, France) to Aérodrome Quiberon - Morbihan LFEQ.
Flight time: 52 minutes.
Quiberon is a beautiful peninsula, in the south of the French region Brittany (Bretagne). The peninsula has nice beaches and lot's of eating opportunities. Closeby the airport is a beach (10 minutes walk). During the summer months there's a bus Quib'bus driving around the island for 1 euro per day.
The runway is 775 m long. After the runway is the beach.

Cette première étape nous emmènes de Brive à St Denis Près Martel, la gare de bifurcation de la ligne.

Le lac de barrage Chaumettes est aussi appelé Pont Rouge.
Le lac est situé en France, entre les communes de Roche-le-Peyroux et Saint-Victour, dans le département de la Corrèze (19), dans le Massif central, en région Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Cette retenue de 57 hectares, 7 kilomètres de long, est établie sur la Diège.
Mis à part le site du pont Rouge D979, les accès sont difficiles. Attention, le lac des Chaumettes subie de forts marnages.
Lac public : Géré par l’AAPPMA – Ussel.
Superficie : 57 hectares.
Difficulté : Moyenne (Localiser les carpes est la véritable difficulté).
Pêche de nuit autorisée : Oui.
Sur la rive gauche depuis la mise à l’eau du pont rouge jusqu’au chemin d’accès situé juste à l’amont du barrage.
Poids moyen des carpes :
Ce barrage est assez bien peuplé avec une densité moyenne et des poissons visant les 16, 17 kilos.
Réglementation:
Sur ces parcours, seuls sont autorisés les appâts d’origine végétale.
La pratique du No-kill est obligatoire.
Le bateau avec moteur électrique est autorisé.
Transport de carpe vivante de + 60 cm strictement interdit.
Mise à l’eau :
Le Pont Rouge -8 m. Mise à l’eau difficile par niveau très bas.
