Tver located north of Moscow, Tver was formerly the capital of a powerful medieval state and a model provincial town in the Russian Empire, with a population of 60,000 on January 14, 1913. It is situated at the confluence of the Volga and Tvertsa Rivers. The city was known as Kalinin (Кали́нин) from 1931 to 1990. The city is situated at the conflux of three rivers, splitting the town into northern and southern parts by the Volga River, and then divided up again into quarters by the Tvertsa River, which splits the northern shore into east and west halves, and the Tmaka River which does the same along the southern bank.

Traveling to Tver - Russia
This is the third stop on my travel and it has taken me to Tver. Tver is a little but beautiful town, it showed me some Russian culture and I made amazing new friends!

For some reason, I thought there was nothing to see in Tver.. I was wrong.
Tver is insanely beautiful, with its own history city!
The city where Pushkin, Karamzin, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Lermontov, Turgenev, Chekhov and many others stayed at one time! No wonder, because there is a lot things to be inspired by!
Tver is the first large located on the Volga river, in addition, it is located on both banks of the river, thereby allowing you to enjoy walks along the promenades from different sides and with different views!
The architecture of the city is a masterpiece, and some buildings have no analogues in Russia!
Tver is very beautiful city, but at the same time it’s sad, sad to see that many architectural monuments of the country are just collapsing in front of our eyes .. Buildings that have rich history behind them are becoming ruins, but fortunately, they do not cease to impress travelers!

Botanical Garden of Tver State University.
Botanical Garden of Tver State University — the northernmost botanical garden with an exhibition of steppe plants, only one of its kind in the Upper Volga. Located in Zavolzhsky Tver region, near the confluence of the Volga Tvertsa. It is valued as a site of historical, cultural and natural heritage besides being an archaeological monument.
The garden includes about 350 species of trees and shrubs. An impressive total of 2,000 herbs grow here. One of the major attractions in the gardens is a pond dating back to the 18th century.

Kalyazin is a town in Tver region, Russia. In 1940, the monastery and most of the old town were flooded during the construction of the Uglich Hydroelectric Station, which created the Uglich Reservoir. After that, the town was effectively relocated to a new, higher spot.

Novotorzhskaya Street (until 1923 - Kosaya Novotorzhskaya Street, until 1952 - Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, until 1991 - Pravdy Street) is a street in the center of Tver, connecting Tverskaya and Mikhail Tverskoy squares.
Planned in the 1760s by the architect P.R.Nikitin, together with the current streets of Volny Novgorod and Sovetskaya, it formed three beams of the three-beam layout of the city center. On Novotorzhskaya Street, a number of houses of the second half of the 18th century have survived (No. 9 House of the Kurovs, No. 20 House of Shvalvich, No. 21 House of the Vaganovs and No. 25), from the late 18th - early 19th centuries (No. 11 House of Karpov and 15), house No. 31 was built in 1811 designed by architect K. I. Rossi. At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century, houses were built: No. 2, 4 (House of the Shlygin), 6a, 10 and 12b. During the German occupation of the city (from October to December 1941), many houses on Novotorzhskaya Street were damaged, in the post-war years, some of them were restored, in place of others new buildings were built, for example, No. 7 (1950-1953, architect F.I. Makarov) and No. 23 (1954, architect I.P. Izotov). In 1968, trolleybus traffic was opened along the street.
Novotorzhskaya Street runs from west to east (with a slight slope to the north) along the territory of the Central District of Tver, along the right bank of the Volga. It starts from Tverskaya Square, crosses Svobodny Lane, Tverskoy Prospekt, Tryokhsvyatskaya Street and ends at Sovetskaya Square.

Tver Region (from 1935 to 1990 - Kalinin Region) is a subject of the Russian Federation.
The administrative center is the city of Tver. Until 1929, the Tver province existed as part of the Russian Empire and the RSFSR.
It borders on the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Novgorod, Smolensk and Pskov regions.
Formed on January 29, 1935.
The Tver region is located in the west of the middle part of the East European Plain. It stretches 350 km from north to south and 450 km from west to east. The area of the region is 84,201 km², which is slightly more than the territory of the Leningrad Region. The distance from the Moscow ring road to the regional border is 90 km.
The territory of the Tver region has been inhabited since the final Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. In the Bronze Age, tribes of the battle-ax culture and its eastern version, the Fatyanovo culture, lived on the territory of the Tver Volga region. Subsequently, measure. The main centers of tourism on the territory of the Tver region are Lake Seliger and the system of the Upper Volga lakes, the source of the Volga River, the cities of Tver, Torzhok, Staritsa, Vyshny Volochek, Rzhev and Toropets, the Ivankovskoye reservoir - otherwise referred to as the Moscow Sea. Tourism is actively developing on the territory of the Kimrsky and Kalyazinsky districts, as well as in Vesyegonsk.
The contribution of the tourism industry to the regional economy is determined by the total industry income of 4.5 billion rubles. (data from 2008). Taking into account the multiplier effect, the share of tourism in the GRP is 6.78%.

Tryokhsvyatskaya street (former Uritskogo street) is a pedestrian street located in the historical center of Tver.
The street runs from north to south perpendicular to the Volga from the Stepan Razin Embankment at 56 ° 51′42 ″ N. Tryokhsvyatskaya Street - one of the oldest streets in the city of Tver, was created by the layout of 1763 after a big fire, when the central part of the city was completely burnt out. The street got its name due to the fact that the road went along it to the Tryokhsvyatsky monastery, which stood in the area of the modern Palace of Children and Youth.
Once Trekhsvyatskaya Street was the entrance to the city, forming a road from the center of Tver to the railway station together with the Station Highway (now Tchaikovsky Prospect).
In 1901, one of the first lines of the Tverskoy tram passed along the street from Vosmigolnaya Square (now - Lenin Square) to the railway station.
From 1919 to 1991 Tryokhsvyatskaya Street was called Uritsky Street in honor of M. S. Uritsky (1873-1918), a Soviet revolutionary and political leader. In 1975, tram traffic was moved from Uritskogo Street to Tverskoy Prospekt, the main street created as a result of the expansion and reconstruction of Kooperativniy Lane.
In 1992, the street was returned to its historical name.
