After years of crisis and isolation, Venezuela is reconnecting to the world. More airlines are opening routes, the US dollar is widely accepted and some locals say the worst is over. Is Venezuela ready to welcome international tourists? And: is it safe?
DW's Joel Dullroy visited Venezuela in January 2022. He went to some of the most touristic spots of the country: from the Isla de Margarita to the town of Mérida and the national park of Morrocoy.

Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela [Spanish: República Bolivariana de Venezuela] is a country on the northern coast of South America, consisting of a continental landmass and many small islands and islets in the Caribbean Sea. It has a territorial extension of 916,445 km2 (353,841 sq mi) and the population of Venezuela was estimated at 28 million in 2019. Venezuela Orinoco Delta - Amazing Doku deutsch
Der Film zeigt das Orinoco-Flussdelta am Amazonas, eines der größten Deltas der Welt. Seine Bewohner sind die Waroa oder auch „Kanu Leute“. Die Buriti-Palme ist für dieWaroa von besonderer Bedeutung und findet in allen Alltagsbereichen Verwendung, so zum Beispiel bei der Fertigung von Hängematten (Chinchorros), sowie für die Fußböden ihrer Häuser .
Die Camps befinden sich absolut idyllisch im Orinoko Delta. In der Umgebung leben meist Familien der Warao-Indianer
Die Hütten stehen direkt am Ufer des Flusses. Man ist lediglich durch ein paar Palmwedel, vom Dschungel getrennt.
Zum Fluss hin sind die Hütten offen. Die Einrichtung ist spartanisch. Zwei sehr bequeme Betten, Baumstümpfe als Hocker und ein kleiner Tisch mit Kerze.

ISOLATED in Venezuela (How I Got There!) ????????????????????????
Travel to Venezuela in 2023 and visit Chuao and Cepe Beaches, small fishing villages and beach towns in Aragua, Venezuela known for producing the world's best CACAO. Getting to Chuao isn't easy as it is only accessible by boat from Choroni, which is a 3 hour drive, through Henri Pittier National Park, from Caracas.
Due to its remote location, most tourists instead go to Los Roques Archipelago or Morrocoy National Park, but I'm so glad I came, because in this video I'll show you the authentic Venezuela - I was the only foreign tourist and had the beaches virtually to myself!
I loved meeting so many locals, including Angelica, who took me on a hike to the best viewpoint in Puerto Colombia, and so many kids playing Chapita, a Venezuela game which is basically baseball with bottle caps!

Viaja a Venezuela en 2023 y visita las Playas de Chuao y Cepe, pequeños pueblos de pescadores y pueblos de playa en Aragua, Venezuela, conocidos por producir el mejor CACAO del mundo. Llegar a Chuao no es fácil, ya que solo se puede acceder en barco desde Choroni, que está a 3 horas en automóvil, a través del Parque Nacional Henri Pittier, desde Caracas.
Debido a su ubicación remota, la mayoría de los turistas van al Archipiélago de Los Roques o al Parque Nacional Morrocoy, pero estoy muy contento de haber venido, porque en este video les mostraré la Venezuela Auténtica ya que yo era el único turista extranjero y tenía la playas prácticamente para mí!
Me encantó conocer a tantos lugareños, incluida Angélica, que me llevó de excursión al mejor mirador de Puerto Colombia, y tantos niños jugando Chapita, un juego de Venezuela que es básicamente béisbol con tapas de botellas.

A plethera of wildlife, including pink river dolphins, scarlet macaws, red howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, toucans, hoatzin (stink birds), giant river otters, emperor vulture (king vulture), piranhas etc. At dusk see thousands of flocking parrots flying to find their roosts for the night.

Venezuela is a a very diverse country with deeply rooted traditions.
Avoiding the the boisterous Caracas, we chose to go to Merida, at the foot of the Venezuelan Andes. There, at the Soto Rosa market, we meet Aura Marcucci who introduces us to fishmongers, exotic fruit sellers and traditional cheese producers.
Aura cooks for us the “Pabellon criollo”, a dished prepared all over the country. The second dish we enjoy is a desert, “El Quesillo”, a crème caramel with passion fruit and guava juice. Finally, we discover the “pizca andina”: an Andean soup from the region of Medina, eaten daily by farmers.

Wegen des sumpfigen Untergrunds bestehen ihre kleinen Dörfer zumeist aus halboffenen hölzernen Pfahlbauten. Auf den ersten Blick erscheint das Leben im Einklang mit der Natur die Warao- Indianer zufrieden und glücklich zu machen. Das Wohnen in offenen Pfahlbauten ohne jeglichen Luxus und das Schlafen in Hängematten wäre für uns auf Dauer aber nicht vorstellbar.
