A Day in Truckee California! Donner Summit, Donner Lake, Downtown Truckee
In this video, I'm spending the day exploring Truckee, California! Some of the activities include walking the streets of historic downtown Truckee, driving up Donner Pass to Donner Summit, checking out Donner Lake, and taking in the snowy views from the Truckee Legacy Trail.
Truckee is a small mountain town in California with tons of history, charm, and outdoor recreation. It's about 20 minutes from Tahoe City and a little over an hour from South Lake Tahoe.

These are some of the best I have ever visited. Let me know in the comment section which ones you liked or is there some you think should be on the list?
If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

LAKE TAHOE Top 10 Takedown! | Mt. Tallac | Secret Cove | Emerald Bay | Truckee River | 2021
We've got 72 hours in Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada and 10 things we've got to do before the clock runs out. Guess we better get moving!
After a month of research on YouTube before our trip we were able to narrow down all the things we wanted to see and do. We flew in on a Tuesday night and flew out on Saturday morning so we really only had three full days to try to pack in all in.
We chose late June for our trip in hopes of catching good weather and the least amount of traffic and crowds which ended up working out perfectly. The other thing we had working for us is that we were there during the week instead of busier weekends.
We stayed in a vacation rental home right off of highway 89 in Tahoe City on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. This seemed to be the most central location for all of the different areas we wanted to visit. This home came with two cruiser bikes that we were able to ride to breakfast and dinner every day and eliminated any parking issues we may have had.
So here is our Top Ten list in the order of completion

We broke the list down into 3 days and grouped them into location. Day one was spent on the west shore, day two we headed down to South Lake Tahoe, and for the last day we went around the north side of the lake to the east side which is the Nevada side. Whatever you do plan to do in Lake Tahoe I would recommend starting early to beat the traffic and get parking spots.

Located on the northwest side of Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City California is full of outdoor character and local charm. It has a quieter, more low-key vibe compared to the more touristy South Lake Tahoe. I've also included my recommendation on where to stay when visiting Tahoe City and north Lake Tahoe.

One of the best things to do in Lake Tahoe is to hike the gorgeous and easily accessible trails around Lake Tahoe. After living in Lake Tahoe for over two years, I've had the opportunity to explore a few hiking trails around Tahoe. And of course, there are still so many hikes that I've yet to do that are on my list!
Here are 13 of the best hikes in Lake Tahoe, listed clockwise from east to west. And don’t worry! You don’t need to be an advanced hiker to enjoy most of the hikes on this list!

Explore this charming town with us as we walk through Historic Downtown Truckee, CA
We start on the North Side of Donner Pass Road, Walking From the West end to the East end. Once we reach the end of Donner Pass Rd we turn around and walk back from East to West on the North Side of Donner Pass Rd. After Donner Pass Road Walking Tour we head over to the Old Truckee Jail, built in 1975 and in continuous use until 1964.

This Town Was Disappointing...Let's Visit Truckee, CA
I have passed Truckee California on the way to Reno Nevada for over twenty years. This time, as part of my California adventure travel series, I decided to stop and check it out. Apart from Donner Pass Park, an interesting stop for sure, there is really nothing to recommend in Truckee. It was composed of tourist gift shops and restaurants, and not much more. Yes, the views are great, and if you're a skier or snowboarding enthusiast, then this is a good base town.
