Torre del Greco is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples in Italy.
Diving for coral has taken place in the Mediterranean Sea ever since Roman times, and in the 15th century, Torre del Greco became known for its coral diving and harvesting of red coral. However, it was not until the 17th century that the first cameos were produced, and not until 1815 that a unique manufacturing contract was granted to the town by the King of Naples for a period of ten years.

It was overcast when we set off from Rome, but cleared up as the afternoon progressed. Our car was amongst one of the largest to attempt this narrow coastal road....what a challenge!
Stopped at Minori for lunch...a very exclusive port town. (Guys wearing boatshoes, and ladies with scarves and hats), and on towards Salerno. Our base was Torre del Greco, near Vesuvio.
