Recently I had the good opportunity to visit Mizoram, a sate that is so special and unique. I travelled across many parts of Mizoram and documented my journey.
This video is part of my Mizoram series which is produced, directed and edited by me (Swathi Hariharan), cinematography by Akshay and special thanks to Surita for guiding us through Mizoram.
In this video, we explore Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Aizawl is a beautiful city and there is a ton to see in Aizawl, we will be covering some of the things you can do in Aizawl.
Tourism in Mizoram is highly underdeveloped and one can say it is unexplored. I am making this video with hope that after watching this some of you might want to visit Mizoram and experience the amazing hospitality and unique culture of Mizoram. This is just the beginning, it's getting better :)

MIZORAM | TOP 10 PLACES TO VISIT IN MIZORAM
It is one of the states of Northeast India, with Aizawl as its capital city. The name is derived from Mi (people), Zo (lofty place, such as a hill) and Ram (land), and thus Mizoram implies land of the hill people

Domestic tourists
The state requires ILP (Inner Line Pass). This is available from the Liaison Officer, Government of Mizoram in Kolkata, Silchar, Shillong, Guwahati and New Delhi.
International tourists
Almost all foreign nationals can also get visitor pass on arrival, and face the same requirements as domestic tourists. However, they additionally have to register themselves with state police within 24 hours of arrival, a formality that most resorts can provide. Citizens of Afghanistan, China and Pakistan and foreign nationals having their origin in these countries are required to get the pass through the Indian consulate or from the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi.

Two types of ILP can be issued :
1. Temporary : 15 days at a time which can be renewed once for another 15 days.
Fees to be paid : Rs. 20/- Application Form.
Rs. 100/- Processing Fee
Rs. 20/- Renewal Fee
Requirements : 4 passport size photo and a photo ID (Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport).
2. Regular : 6 months at a time which can be renewed twice for another 6 months each. However, sponsorship from a local resident or a Government Department is required.
Fees to be paid : Rs. 20/- Application Form.
Rs. 200/- Processing Fee
Rs. 100/- Renewal Fee
Requirements : 4 passport size photo and a photo ID, 2 passport size photo of the sponsor.

1) Solomon's Temple
The temple is made purely of white marble. The church was founded by Dr. L.B. Sailo in 1984 and the members are known as 'the elects.
2) Durtlang Hills
The way to Durtlang itself offers enjoyable walk along the steep climb with scenic rural environment. It is Situated to the north of Aizwal high and provides majestic view of entire Aizwal city.
3) Mizoram State Museum
It is located in the centre of the town at Zarkawt. This museum gives a good insight into Mizo traditions, culture and history. It is an ethnographic museum with multipurpose collections on display. There are five galleries: Textile Gallery, Ethnology, History,
Anthropology, Natural History, and Archeology Terrace. The collection occupies four floors.
4) Vantawng Falls
Mizoram's highest falls, Vantawng Falls are located about 137 KMs from Aizawl and 5 kms from the village of Thenzawl in Serchhip district. It is a two-tiered waterfall with a total height of 229 metres.
5) Reiek
It rests at an elevation of 1548 metres overlooking Aizawl and offers a view of the surrounding valleys and hills. On a clear
day the plains of Bangladesh can be seen from the top of the hill. It is surrounded by thick lush green temperate trees and bushes.
6) Phawngpui
It is famous for orchids and rhododendrons. It is also known as Blue Mountain and is the highest mountain peak in the Lushai Hills and in the state of Mizoram. There is a semi-circular series of cliffs on the western side called Thlazuang Khàm, which have a sharp and deep fall, and serve as the natural home of mountain goats.
7) Murlen National Park
About 15 species of mammals, 150 species of birds, 35 species of Medicinal plants, 2 species of bamboos, and 4 species of orchids so far have been recorded in this Park.
8) Bara Bazar
It is the main shopping centre of Aizawl in Dawrpui Veng locality. The steep Zion Street is lined with stalls selling garments. The main bazar is where the people are best seen in their traditional costumes selling produce from the farms as well as imports from China brought through Myanmar border area.The Millennium Center in the same locality is a popular shopping Mall.
9) Mura Puk
It is situated in Zote village, which is 10 km away from Champhai town. There are six caves at this site and these were the
hiding place of the local villagers. The villagers used to hide here from a large eagle known as Mura, which was a cruel man-eater.
10) Palak Dil Lake
It is located near Phura village in Saiha district . Palak Dil is home to a number of resident and migratory animals. More than 70 species of birds have been recorded from the lake and its shore.

Road Trip: Aizawl to Thenzawl, Mizoram - Beautiful Waterfalls, Solomon Temple & More | Tour India
We traveled all the way from Aizawl to Thenzawl. The video is the combination of the beautiful sceneries and the ancient places with beautiful mesmerizing views. Do watch:
Trek to Khawhpawp Waterfall. A strong water current runs through a hole in the rock which has created this spectacular waterfall. The route to this waterfall is adventurous and scary!
It has Vantawang Waterfall. The height of the fall is recorded as 750 ft and though it is difficult to get close to it because of the sheer forested hillsides surrounding it, a comfortable viewing tower has been constructed.
Sialsuk Peak is a beautiful hilly village in between the route and it has mesmerizing view of the mountains!
Lalsavunga Park is a tourist spot near Aizawl, Mizoram. It is about 8 km from Aizawl in South Hlimen. It is at an elevation of 1179 metres.
Holy Solomon Temple, Solomon's Temple is a church located in Aizawl Mizoram, India. The temple was constructed by the religious group Kohhran Thianghlim, rendered as 'The Holy Church'. in English. The church was founded by Dr. L.B. Sailo in 1984. The temple is the largest in Mizoram.
There are luxurious accomodations, eye-catching scenes and beautiful weather in the route.

Aizawl is a beautiful hill city and the capital of Mizoram flanked by the lofty peaks of Durtlang in the north. It is set on ridges of steep hills overlooking the sylvan valley of the river Tlawng in the west and of the river Tuirial in the east and south.Proving true to its name as the home of the highlanders, Aizawl, the capital of the northeastern state of Mizoram, is located at an altitude of 3500 feet above sea level. It is the seat of a rich tribal cultural extravaganza and is famous for its handicrafts. The town is blessed with exotic natural beauty.
Thenzawl is located in Serchhip district of Mizoram and is about 90 km from Aizawl, the capital city. The road to Thenzawl passes through beautiful mountain roads. Hmuifang is located on the way to Thenzawl, about 60 km from Aizawl city. So you can club these two places together on your trip.
Thenzawl is known to be the handloom centre of Mizoram. The colorful and traditional ‘puan’ that the Mizo women so proudly flaunt during festivals and other occasions are mostly hand-woven in the houses of Thenzawl. The sleepy town in Mizoram is now famously known as the ‘Handloom City’. For the uninitiated, ‘puan’ is the traditional wrap-around skirt worn by the Mizo women.
Thenzawl is also known for its waterfalls.
