Guide to SABA! (20 things to do in the Caribbean's smallest island)

We're visiting Saba, an island in the Dutch Caribbean and a popular day trip from St. Maarten, to explore the best things to do on the island! Our vlog & travel guide includes a hike to Mt. Scenery (the tallest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands), shots of the world's shortest airplane runway, and plenty of beautiful (and challenging!) hikes!

*Planning your own trip to Saba, the Unspoiled Queen of the Caribbean? Add these to your itinerary!*

1. Take the Makana Ferry from St. Maarten to Saba - popular as a day trip because it only takes about an hour and is a gorgeous ride!
2. Take a ride through Saba island. It's as scary as it is beautiful!
3. Try some local cuisine at one of the few restaurants! (We went to Saba Snack!)
4. Hike to Mt. Scenery, the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands!
5. Want a workout? Hike the Elfin Forest trail!
6. Try to see if you can catch a ride by hitchhiking which is allegedly a popular thing to do on the island!
7. Hike down to the see incredible coastlines and old Sulphur Mines (or plan a tour to see the inside of them!)
8. Hike up, down, and along the edge of the volcano on the All Too Far trail!
9. Shop locally grown produce to support local farmers in Windwardside on Wednesdays!
10. Want an easier trail than Mt. Scenery, but a similar vantage point? Check out the Mas'Cohones Trail!
11. Support more local businesses by shopping the local eats section at the two grocery markets in Windwardside! (They're SO good!!!)
12. Hike the Bottom Mountain Trail to cross between Windwardside and The Bottom
13. Explore to capital of Saba, The Bottom!
14. Chat with some of the locals - they are extremely friendly and are filled with history and stories about the island!
15. Visit the Major Osmar R. Simmons Museum to learn about the history of Saba! (And donations are greatly appreciated by the owner to support their family museum! :D)
16. Hike the historic Ladder to get down to the ocean!
17. Hike the Spring Bay Trail (I misspoke and called it the Sandy Bay Trail in the video)
18. Continue onward to the Saba Heritage Trail to see the oldest ruins on the island!
19. See the coolest landscape at the Tide Pool Trail!
20. Interested in aviation? Watch planes take off and land at the shortest airplane runway in the world!

BONUS: Visiting during the holidays? try to catch the New Years Fireworks Show! It's located at the airport and a full half-hour long!

Bonaire Island. Trip Report with Travel Tips. Part II

Visiting and Exploring island Bonaire. Travel report part2 covering best Bonaire island destinations places, popular beaches and sport activities. Full detailed review what Bonaire island can offer if wish spend your vacation here, including condo rentals, shopping, car rentals. There are many historical and nature conservation places you must see when travelling Bonaire. #bonaire #TravelDocumentary #travelvlog #traveltheworld #travelvideo #caribbeanislands #caribbean
When you arrive at Bonaire, the first thing you are asked is: Are you here for diving or windsurfing? We answer: no, we are here to discover new wonderful places and make the most unexpected discoveries.Lac Bay is perhaps one of the few places on the island where you can go fishing if you have brought a fishing rod with you. Here you can often see people who like fly fishing because there are schools of bone fish in the bay. A welcome and difficult trophy for a fisherman. Here you can catch barracuda or snapper for dinner on grill.
We spent a lot of time in the Washington Slagbai Nature Reserve located in the northern part of the island.
Therefore, we returned to it again and again, and each time we discovered something new for ourselves. The reserve was founded in 1969 to protect birds, reptiles, plants and marine life; it occupies one fifth of the entire island, which is approximately five and a half thousand hectares. All four species of Caribbean sea turtles come here to lay their eggs. They are all endangered Rare birds can be observed here. Several types of cacti grow here, one of them is the cactus kadushi from which the local cactus vodka and liqueur is made. In the reserve, you can also stumble upon the dangerous choya cactus.

SABA Island ~ Epic Caribbean Travels at its BEST ~ WeBeYachting.com

This video is of our epic day on the Island of SABA. We board the 9h00 hight speed ferry with flat calm weather. Spend the day visiting and returned to Sint Maarten on the 15h30 ferry.

I would like to extend a special thanks to our awesome guide & driver Mr. George (Who is also the owner of the Midway Bar). Cheers!

Saba is a Caribbean island and the smallest special municipality (officially public body) of the Netherlands.[4] It consists largely of the potentially active volcano Mount Scenery. Saba has a land area of 13 square kilometers (5.0 sq mi). As of January 2013, the population was 1,991 inhabitants, with a population density of 150 inhabitants per square kilometre (390/sq mi).[1] Its towns and major settlements are The Bottom (the capital), Windwardside, Hell's Gate and St. Johns.

AIRPORT: In 1963, Saba residents built the Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport. This 400-metre (1,300 ft) landing strip is reputed to be the shortest commercial runway in the world, and is restricted. Only trained pilots flying small STOL airliners, such as the Twin Otter and the Britten-Norman Islander may land there, as well as helicopters. Consistent air service from Sint Maarten and Sint Eustatius is available through Winair.

SABA Island ~ Ladder Bay ~ Epic UAV Drone ~ Caribbean Travels at its BEST ~ WeBeYachting.com

Ladder Bay is an anchorage on the leeward side of Saba Island. It sits directly under the 800 steps to the old Customs House perched precariously on the lip of a cliff overlooking the bay and is locally known as The Ladder. Prior to the opening of the road down to Fort Bay, this was the primary point of entry for supplies to the island.
