1- Chitralekha udyan -
Cole Park, Tezpur is a very picturesque park near the centre of Tezpur. It has recently been renamed as Chitralekha Udyan although both names are synonymous. The name is after a famous character in Agnigarh Aniruddha-Usha love story It has had a long tradition of hosting painting/drawing competitions for the nearby schools due to the various features it possesses.
2- Agnigarh Hill -
Agnigarh is a hillock located in Tezpur, Assam, India.[1] In Hindu mythology, it is the site of the fortress which was built by Banasura to keep his daughter Usha in isolation. The name itself is derived from the words 'Agni' (meaning fire) and 'garh' (meaning fortress or wall) in Sanskrit.
3 - Nagsankar Temple -
Nag-Sankar Temple is a famous shrine situated near Sootea, to the east of Tezpur, in Sonitpur District. The temple is believed to be built by King Narasankar of Nagakha in the 4th century.
4 - Kolia bhomora Setu -
Kolia Bhomora Setu is a pre-stressed concrete road bridge over the Brahmaputra River near Tezpur and Kaliabor in Assam, India. It is named after the Ahom General Kolia Bhomora Phukan.[1][2] The bridge falls on route of National Highway 715, previously known as NH-37A.
5 - Mahabhairav Temple -
The ancient Mahabhairav Temple is located at a hillock on the northern part of Tezpur town in Assam, India.[1] This Shiva temple was originally built of stone but the present one was renovated and built with concrete. During the Ahom rule, the kings especially of the Tungkhungia dynasty donated large area of Devotee land to the Temple and appointed pujaris, Paiks to look after the temple.
6 - Padampukhuri -

The ancient ruins of the Bamuni Hills located in Tezpur of Sonitpur district in Assam is a treat for any archaeology enthusiast.

Dhekiajuli is a town and a municipal board in Sonitpur district in the state of Assam, India. And it is famous for litchi's farms .
9 - hazarpur lake -
Hazarpar Lake situated in Tezpur . andthis is a good place for morning walk and this is a good place for picnic spot .
10 - District museum -
The Tezpur District museum is one of the 12 state museums of Assam located in the heart of Tezpur town. The Museum was established on 16th March 1986 under the Directorate of Museums, Guwahati, Assam. Earlier, the museum was put up in Darrang College, then shifted to Tezpur Sahitya Sabha and finally in the year 2002, the museum was finally shifted and set up permanently in the British historic building �Dak- Bungalow�.. The museum has more than 555 number of objects. It consists of a wide collection of antiquities, sculptures, manuscripts, copper plate inscriptions, manuscripts, Ahom period cannons and craft of various communities and satra institutions.

What a beautiful start to the day with Rice, curd and gur. Best part of this breakfast was that it was cooked using traditional method.
Tezpur has ancient, Medieval and modern history.
Ancient history: it is believed that many many thousand years ago, Banasur fought war with Lord Krishna. In this war Lord Shiva supported Lord Krishna. We visited Agni garh and Temple remain Bamuni hills.
There are many temples of Lord Shiva in Tezpur, as Banasur was a disciple of Lord Shiva, he built these temples over the time period when he was ruling in this region.
Medieval history: We learnt about Ahom dynasty t during our visit to Sivasagar.
Modern History: During this era, there is lot of work that happened around cultural aspects of assam some of the notable writers, poets, musicians. Jyoti Prasad Agarwal was born in Tezpur. He was the first Assamese film maker.
Tezpur is home for Bishnu Rabha who was another multi talented personality. He was a Poet, Lyricist , Dramatist and a freedom fighter. Bishnu Rabha's song also has a special identity which is popular as ''Bishnu Rabha Sangeet''.
Noted personalities like Phoni Sarma & Padmanath Gohain Baruah was also from this place. Padmanath Gohain Baruah was the 1st president of Asom Sahitya Sabha.
Ugroshore: It takes about 40 minutes to travel between Ganesh ghat Tezpur to ugroshore island.

March of 2019, I took a solo trip to the states of Assam and Meghalaya in northeast India. What I found there blew my mind and challenged everything I thought I knew about India. I took a deep dive into this region’s unique history and culture, diverse natural environments, and mind-blowing cuisine, and learned that these states are quite different from the rest of the country. I’m so excited to share what I experienced with you guys. Come along with me as I explore the magnificent world of northeast India!
After arriving in Tezpur around 10 a.m., I hit the ground running and linked up with my friend Kamal from Tezpur Buzz, who took me around to some of the city’s attractions. Then we had a huge Assamese thali that contained 20 different items! I couldn’t wait to seem more of the city. Let’s go explore Tezpur!
I hopped onto the back of Kamal’s bike and we headed off to our first stop. Immediately, I noticed a huge difference between Tezpur and my time in Meghalaya: in Tezpur there were lots of cows roaming the streets, whereas there were none in Meghalaya. Cows are sacred in Assam, so they’re free to roam.
We passed through the Chowk Bazaar, which are markets, and arrived at Radheshyam Hotel, which is famous for its chai and sweets. I couldn’t wait to try some! I watched the cooks work in the kitchen for a bit and then went back to the dining area to eat.
I started with the pyaaj kachori, which is a fried onion fritter. The dough was crispy on the outside and soft inside and contained multiple layers. It wasn’t greasy at all and also contained a nice masala. I loved how light and airy it was!
Then I went with the chai. I could taste lots of ginger and cardamom in it. It was very frothy and milky and almost a darker kind of chai. Then I had some rabri, a sweet, condensed milk dish I’d had before. It was very rich with big chunks of milk. It was delicious! Everything cost us only about 50 rupees/$0.71 U.S.
Then we went to Chitralekha Udyan Park, a historical park that contains ancient stones that have mythological figures carved into them. They were beautiful! There were also banyan trees. This area was Chitralekha’s house and the stones are the remains of it. It was the coolest park I’d ever been to! It was a park and an archaeological site!
Next, we saw the beautiful Shri Shri Ganesh Mandir Gate, which has intricate carvings and statues of Hindu gods, elephants, and Hanuman on it. Through the gate is the Ganesha Ghat on the Brahmaputra River. It was clean and peaceful!
From there, we headed up a hill to Agnigarh Park. Agnigarh is a hill with a spiral staircase wrapping around it. I loved the air quality there. It smelled so clean and there were lots of trees everywhere! At the very top is an open-air platform that offers an amazing view of the river, the bridge, the town, and much more!
Then it was time to eat! We headed to the restaurant to get our Assamese thali. I started with the dal and rice, followed by the eggplant, which was amazing and a little spicy. Then I tried the rajma, which consists of beans in a thick but light gravy. Next was a spinach-like vegetable and a tasty aloo dish with carrots and onion.
Aloo pitika was next. It contained some chilies, so it was hot. I followed that with a super tender and buttery mutton that I was in awe of. It contained nice spices but wasn’t too spicy. Next was duck, which was delicious and fatty and contained a big bone. I loved how tender and juicy it was.
The chicken came in a dark curry and contained a different type of masala. Then was the fish, which didn’t contain any bones and came in a light curry. It was a little salty. Then I went with the crispy papad and some delicious and super fatty pork with vegetables. The vegetables were amazing! Then I tried a type of pumpkin, which was like a fried sweet potato. I loved it!
Next was a milky rice pudding, followed by khar that was made of papaya but wasn’t sweet. Then was a lentil chutney and a light and super mild green dal. Everything was amazing!

We planned to go somewhere to shoot video but lastly we visited some historical place. Firstly we went Mahabhairab temple which is around 1.5km from my house, then we visited Bamuni hills which is something 4-5km, after all lastly we went near Brahmaputra river side which was most peaceful place and on the way we have seen bhairabi temple.

1.Mahabhairab temple - (wikipedia)
The ancient Mahabhairav Temple is located at a hillock on the northern part of Tezpur town in Assam, India. This Shiva temple was originally built of stone but the present one was renovated and built with concrete. During the Ahom rule, the kings especially of the Tungkhungia dynasty donated large area of Devotee land to the Temple and appointed pujaris, Paiks to look after the temple. The temple is now managed by the Government of Assam through a managing committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur. Maha Shivaratri the annual festival of Shaivite branch of Hinduism is celebrated in the temple complex with devotees coming from far and wide. Laddu laced with Bhang, an edible preparation of cannabis and also mixed with milk and spices, are offered as prasad to Lord Shiva as per the rituals. Various puja are also conducted at this temple, pigeons are also freed that symbolizes that spirit of ancestors are being liberated.
2. Bamuni hills-(wikipedia)
The ancient ruins of the Bamuni Hills located in Tezpur of Sonitpur district in Assam is a treat for any archaeology enthusiast. It is located near Tezpur town on the right banks of the Brahmaputra river just near Bhairavi temple. It is believed to be the ruins of an ancient temple site of the 9th – 10th century. According to the constructional plan, it is assumed that there was a Vishnu temple at the centre and four Shiva temples in four corners of the hillock. They were of Panchayatana style. There are also the ruins of an isolated temple on the north eastern side. It is a protected site by the ASI Tezpur sub circle . The carvings on the walls and pillars of the temple speak a lot about the skills and talent of the contemporary artisans and sculptors. The floral and geometric designs are worth mentioning. Several sculptures of animals like crocodile and tortoise are also found. The different avatars of Vishnu are nicely engraved and the piece of slab is still intact. Several pieces of the temple walls and pillars are taken to the adjacent Cole park or Chitralekha Udyan within the Tezpur town and are well preserved. If we go by the dates, the temple belonged to the kings of the Pala dynasty . According to many scholars, these ruins are a result of some devastating earthquake.
3.bhairabi temple (wikipedia)
The Goddess Bhairavi is worshipped here as she is one of the Mahavidyas of Maa Durga Devi. It is a very important Shakti Peeth of Assam. The backdrop of the temple is a view looking towards the Kolia Bhomora Setu across the Brahmaputra River. The temple site is also locally known Bhairabi Devalaya. Legend has it that Usha (daughter of mighty Asura King Banasura) regularly came here for the worshipping of the Goddess. About a couple of kilometres away lie the Bamuni Hills where one can view the ruins of the palace that stood many centuries ago. The art work on stone carvings that were used within the structure are from the 9th century. Likewise, the 400-year-old Bhairabi temple has tilted slightly and a nearby building suffered damage to the west and south sides of the second and third stories and cracked the pillars and an unhinged roof due to an earthquake. Following the damage, religious ceremonies or daily prayers have come to a halt.

the Bamuni hills of the district of Sonitpur one may find such spectacular ruins which attract a number of people to the region
On the right bank of the mighty Brahmaputra the low hill names Bamuni is situated which displays a number of awe inspiring stone carvings and statues of the bygone era
According to Hindu mythology Aniruddha the nephew of Lord Krishna had fallen in love with the daughter of Banasura who disapproving of the match had imprisoned Aniruddha in this place The Archaeological Study of India under whose control this area currently is, has fixed the date of these ruins at 10th to 12th century A.D. The style of the art excavated in this area indicates towards the Gupta period It is however not clear as to who had this temple constructed but it is generally believed that the temple was built during early Pala period It is also assumed that this was a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it was a north Indian Nagara style temple
