Tayabas Heritage Tour by Train. Exploring the Cultural Treasures & Historic Sites of Tayabas

La Muy Noble Villa de Tayabas.
That's how the Spaniards called Tayabas. It was one of the biggest and most beautiful towns in the Philippines during this period.
Founded in 1578, it became the capital of the old province of Tayabas (now renamed Quezon) from 1749 to 1901. During this period, the Spaniards built bridges, churches, and other grand structures.
Many of these structures still stand today. And they are worth visiting.
It is now easy to visit the province of Quezon, thanks to the re-opening of San Pablo to Lucena line. I went first to Sariaya and explored its grand Art Deco houses. (But it's possible to go direct to Tayabas to Lucena from the train station by taking a tricycle to Grand Central, then jeepney to Lucena).
From Sariaya, I took a tricycle to Tayabas, then hopped on another tricycle to Puente Malagonlong, the longest, one of the oldest, the tallest, and the most beautiful Spanish bridge in the Philippines.
I returned to bayan, had a delicious lunch at the palengke, and then continued with my exploration of Tayabas' National Cultural Treasures: San Miguel Arcangel Church, Casa Comunidad, Casa Real, Puente de Alitao, Camposanto and its Mortuary Chapel, and many more.
Before going back home, I loaded on Tayabas' famous budin from Calle Budin. I would have bought Lambanog, which is another famous pasalubong from Tayabas, but I wasn't sure if it's allowed to be carried on a train.

City of Festivals: Tayabas Quezon walking tour featuring Calle Budin

To relax my mind and body, I went to Tayabas Quezon. It's the second time I've been here; the first time I was here at the Xtown Club of the Philippines and on that long ride a year ago. It was one of the places we visited. So please let me be your virtual companion right now. Let me show you around Tayabas Quezon while you sit back and unwind.

I now have more stuff to create and a valid excuse to travel while still being healthy, thanks to walking. It also allowed me to see many of the Philippines' beautiful locations, cafes, restaurants, and tourist attractions. To support this channel, it would be good if you could buy me a cup of coffee after each walk or trip I do. I love to have coffee after a long walk.

Driving through the City of Tayabas, Quezon with a Mountain View

We are driving in Tayabas City from Lucena City to Lucban, Quezon.

Tayabas City is known for lambanog (coconut arrack) and sweet food/delicacies, as well as tourism resorts. Tayabas is also known as the City of Festivals because of its colorful festivals. The city is known for resorts, heritage houses, historical landmarks, more than 20 Spanish stone bridges with under-carvings from Filipino ancestors, nationally important archaic stone crosses from the 16th century which is believed to be homes of nature spirits, rest and recreation destination, and festivities. It is the former capital of the Province of Tayabas, now Aurora and Quezon. The prevalent architectural sites of the city, including its bridges, has led numerous scholars to campaign its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is accessible by land from Metro Manila passing through Rizal and Laguna East Via Manila East Road or via South Luzon Expressway.

Tayabas Public Market walking tour in Tayabas Quezon

There is a market in Tayabas City called the Tayabas Public Market. The Calabarzon region of the Quezon Province contains Tayabas City in the Philippines. Tayabas' public market is comprised of wet and dry markets. The dry market is on the second floor, while the wet market is on the first. Since I also produced a walking film for Tayabas City, I'd want to discuss the situation at the Tayabas Public Market for this video. So, please sit back, relax, watch, and walk with me through Tayabas Public Market.
