Continuamos nuestro recorrido por Jalisco, y en esta ocasión toca turno a Tapalpa, hoy les traigo una GUÍA COMPLETA para visitar un pueblo mágico que se encuentra a un par de horas de Guadalajara. En este video les comparto el primer día de mi experiencia en este bello pueblo.

Mexico Travel : Magic Towns Series : Tapalpa Preview
Clear Travel is currently traveling throughout Mexico. In our Mexico Travel segment we will be visiting Magic Towns located throughout Mexico.
What is a Magic Town?
Mexico is best known to the outside world for its posh beach resort. However, in 2001, the Mexico Tourism Board created the Magical Towns Program, an initiative which promotes a series of towns across Mexico due to their history, rich culture, unique traditions, and natural beauty. As of August 2018 there are currently 111 towns bearing the “Magical Towns,” or Pueblos Mágicos” designation. According to Smithsonian.com “To qualify, a city must demonstrate a mix of historical, cultural and aesthetic qualities. Each city has aspects that set it apart from others in the country, including folklore and legends or historical events and a unique everyday life. It must also be well preserved, retaining its heritage-based value both tangibly and intangibly.”
Today we are visiting the Magic Town of Tapalpa. Tapalpa comes from the Nahuatl (language known historically as Aztec) word tlapalpan meaning land of colors. Varieties of Nahuatl are spoken by an estimated 1.5 million Nahua people, most of whom live in central Mexico.
Tapalpa is located 118 kilometers from the capital city of Guadalajara and it takes about 2 hours to get there. It is a traditional Mexican town with cobblestone streets surrounded by mountains and woods. Like our video and subscribe to our page if you like our videos.

We couldn't leave without exploring Las Piedrotas (Giant boulders). We are an American expat family living in Mexico and we love to share our adventures with you guys. In this Jalisco Mexico vlog, we stayed in the Pueblo Magico, Tapalpa for a little less than a week. This provincial mountain town is truly something special. While in this Magic Town, we enjoyed the mouth-watering food of the mountains of Jalisco while soaking in the relaxing essence of nature surrounding the town.
So many people recommended we visit Tapalpa, Jalisco and now we know why! We just wish we’d come sooner! During our trip, we also made our way to Valle de Piedrotas, or Valley of Large Stones, what is considered the main attraction of Tapalpa. Later, we journey through some sketchy dirt roads to find what we later learned was the largest waterfall either of us have ever seen, and perhaps the most stunning thing we’ve ever seen in nature. This Mexican waterfall, called Salto de Nogal is an absolute MUST SEE if you are in Guadalajara or Lake Chapala Jalisco, Mexico. Heck, even if you aren’t in Jalisco or Mexico, we think this experience was practically unparalleled and a definite must.

4. The shops (poke around the shops of Tapalpa for some traditional wooden products, rompope, ponche, coffee, woven clothing, and other unique goodies to Jalisco)
5. Give some love to the many gentle and kind stray dogs.
