Alakol is an amazing lake, translated into Russian, its name means “multi-colored lake”, because on the surface of its water surface any mood of the weather is reflected, and the underground springs feeding the lake only enhance the play of azure and deep blue.
A very beautiful lake Alakol and its coastal areas will delight anyone with their magnificent landscapes, healing properties, an atmosphere of calmness and tranquility.

Solo in Kazakhstan’s Cheapest City ????????

Shymkent is the city in southern part of Kazakhstan and known to be the cheapest city in the country. It has also been an important part of once famous Silk Road. Most of the former trading glory has faded away, but you can still find some lively markets here. I decided that time to time everyone should just relax and enjoy a bit. And that’s exactly what I did. My money went pretty far in Shymkent and yours would too! :)

Window view from Yakovlev YAK-40 registration UP-Y4020, operated by Zhetysu Aviakompany. The flight was JTU6060 from Taldykorgan (TDK) to Almaty (ALA), Kazakhstan on 23rd March 2014.

Yakovlev Yak-40 | Zhetysu | Inflight Experience | Astana to Usharal

Zhetysu is a small Kazakh airline based in Taldykorgan. The airline operates domestic services with only a single active Yak-40 aircraft.

Zhetysu is focussed on serving secondary domestic routes in Kazakhstan. Recently the airline launched a new flight from Astana to Usharal. Usharal's former airbase was converted to a civil airport with a new terminal building in 2017. The first flight passenger flight arrived in July 2017. The airport is designed to serve a nearby holiday resort area.

Join me on this scheduled domestic flight and see one of the first civil arrivals at Usharal airport.

The video gives you an impression of the inflight experience on Zhetysu's Yak-40 aircraft on a scheduled domestic service in Kazakhstan.

At the end of 1959 the city of Alma-Ata was separated from the region. In the same year Alma-Ata and Taldy-Kurgan regions were united, then in 1968 Taldy-Kurgan region was singled out again.

The last unification of two oblasts - Almaty and Taldykorgan regions occurred in 1997.

The region includes 17 districts and 3 cities of regionaly subordination (cities Taldykorgan, Kapshagai, Tekeli).

Walking Into An Old Kazakhstan Dragons Lair ????????

Day 10 of our Southern Kazakhstan expedition we left a beautiful hostel “Home Sweet Hostel”, to continue our trip around the mountains of Shymkent region. We visited an old limestone cave that legends once told that housed a sleeping dragon during ancient times. The cave Akmyshit was uncovered during an earthquake less then 100years ago. It was re-discovered by the local people of the area. The rumors says the dragon isn’t there anymore, the old sage who lives at the Den, tells tales that there is another entrance to this cave. The dragon can still be dwelling here after all.

Following our departure from this chilling and massive cave mouth we made a stop at the Dambulak Anna monument. The video footage was short because I was thrown a lot of uncomfortable and questionable moments. I accidentally saw a woman hair and was yelled at (Due to my ignorance of the culture it is considered rude to see a Muslim woman hair. Don’t make the same mistake as me) I also was separated from Avocado and peer pressured into Anna Mausoleum because Man first rule. Men always go into everything first, step first, first to make decision. The whole tour group was waiting on me before they go into the Mausoleum, while I was waiting on Avocado. So I didn’t want to be rude and the Grandma caretaker was yelling at me prior to this tour, to stay silent. Soviet Babushkas are strict!
