Москва. Новоспасский пруд — искусственный водоём в центре Москвы. В 1750 году на берегу Москвы-реки в центре города на современном местоположении пруда были вырыты два водоема: больший имел прямоугольную форму, а меньший — квадратную. В ходе этих работ также был облагорожен старый пруд с островом в центре. Пруды были связаны друг с другом и с Москвой-рекой системой подземных труб.
До наших дней от этой системы дошёл лишь один водоём прямоугольной формы — это и есть Новоспасский пруд.Его площадь составляет 1,5 га, средняя глубина — 2,5 метра. Питание осуществляется за счёт грунтовых и поверхностных вод. Чтобы предотвратить водную эрозию, береговые линии укрепили железобетонной конструкцией.
Вокруг пруда расположен небольшой парк, это популярное место отдыха! Купание в Новоспасском пруду не разрешено, однако этот запрет часто нарушают. С территории пруда открывается вид на Московский международный дом музыки с одной стороны – за Москвой рекой и Новоспасский монастырь с противоположной. Новоспасский мужской монастырь, один из 10 действующих в Москве, принадлежит Русской православной церкви. Не поверите - Образованная в 13 веке тихая монашеская обитель за много веков превратилась в законченный архитектурный ансамбль. Это удивительный памятник древней истории православия на Руси, и обитель монашеской общины, живущей по своим строгим правилам и распорядку. В соборе и храмах монастыря проводятся регулярные богослужения.
Основан в 1490 году с именем Спаса Нового Великим князем Иваном III, который перевёл за город братию кремлёвского монастыря Спаса на Бору. Последний возник около 1330 года при Великом князе Иване Калите.
Первый каменный собор Спаса Преображения построен был в 1494 году. Монастырь начал пользоваться царской благосклонностью и приобретать современный облик после прихода к власти Романовых, чья родовая усыпальница издавна находилась в Новоспасском монастыре.
Монастырь был закрыт в 1918 году, и в том же году на его территории был устроен концентрационный лагерь. Памятники монастыря, имевшие музейное значение, были приписаны к музею Симонова монастыря. В 1920-х годах архитектор Сергей Родионов провёл реставрацию построек монастыря. В 1925 году территорию монастыря занимал Второй женский исправительный дом. Монастырское кладбище снесено в 1927—1930 годах.
С 1935 года территорией монастыря ведало хозяйственное управление НКВД. Все монастырские постройки были переоборудованы для хозяйственных нужд или под жильё. Выселение жильцов началось в 1960 году. В 1968 году было принято решение организовать на базе монастыря «музей истории и современной практики реставрационного дела в СССР».
Восстановительные работы затянулись на многие годы. В соборе планировалось открыть Музей истории реставрации. Большой реставрационный центр на территории монастыря существовал с 1985 до конца 1990 года, когда решено было вернуть монастырь Московской патриархии.
Возрождение монашеской жизни началось в апреле 1991 года. В июле того же года создан мужской хор Новоспасского монастыря.
В 1995 году сюда был перенесён прах великого князя Сергея Александровича, убитого за 90 лет до этого террористом Иваном Каляевым. На территории монастыря воздвигнут памятный крест, воссозданный по сохранившемуся проекту Виктора Васнецова, — точная копия памятника, существовавшего в Кремле.
В феврале 2014 года патриарх Кирилл освятил 16-тонный «Романовский» колокол, который был отлит взамен уничтоженного в 20 веке исторического колокола.

Old streets of Moscow. Walking in cloudy weather
Vorontsovo Pole Street (in 1935-1992 Obukha Street, in 1739-1745 Ilyinskaya Street) is a radial street on the border of the Basmanny and Tagansky Districts in the Central Administrative District of Moscow. It runs from Pokrovsky and Yauzsky Boulevards to Zemlyanoy Val Street. The numbering of houses is from the Boulevard Ring. On the odd (northern) side, Durasovsky and Podsosensky lanes adjoin the street, on the even side - Bolshoi Nikolovorobinsky and Obukha. Together with the Vorontsov Pole, these buildings were formed on the hill on the right slope of the Yauza - Gostinaya Gora, presumably one of the seven hills of Moscow.
Podkolokol'nyy Pereulok Most likely, the lane got its name (beginning of the 19th century) from the bell tower (built in 1800-1802) of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin on the Strelka (Solyanka, 5/2), under which it begins.
There is another version: on the site of the current temple there was a church (known from the 16th century), built, perhaps, according to the type “like under the bells”, that is, with a bell tower on top of the church. In some sources, the lane is called Podkolokolnikov
The early name of the lane was Podkopaevsky, after the ancient village of Podkopaevo located here. In the middle of the 19th century, the name Podkopayevsky passed to the neighboring Nikolsky Lane, which was previously called after the Church of St. Nicholas in Podkopayy. When studying archival materials of the 19th century, this creates some confusion.

The Garden Ring, also known as the B Ring (Russian: Садо́вое кольцо́, кольцо́ Б; transliteration: Sadovoye Koltso), is a circular ring road avenue around central Moscow, its course corresponding to what used to be the city ramparts surrounding Zemlyanoy Gorod in the 17th century.
The Ring consists of seventeen individually named streets and fifteen squares. It has a circumference of sixteen kilometres. At its narrowest point, Krymsky Bridge, the Ring has six lanes. After finishing the reconstruction, all sections of the Ring will have not more than 10 lanes. In 2018, more than 50 % of sections of the Garden Ring are reconstructed, including Zubovskaya square, which was the widest section, there were about 18 lanes before. The Ring emerged in the 1820s, replacing fortifications, in the form of ramparts, that were no longer of military value.
Garden Ring is a direct descendant of the Skorodom (Скородом, literally Quick Building) and Earth Rampart (Земляной Вал, Zemlyanoy Val) fortifications, erected in the reign of Feodor I of Russia after a disastrous raid by Ğazı II Giray (1591). Although Boris Godunov, de facto regent of Russia, prevented Crimean Tatars from taking the city north of Moskva River, he anticipated future raids and arranged construction of another defence ring.
Instead of rebuilding the useless rampart, the city levelled it; census records set demolition date as 1818-1826.The new free land was developed according to local social status: upper-class western segment of the Ring acquired central boulevards, flanged by side streets. Present-day streets in this segments are still called Boulevards (Zubovsky Boulevard, etc.). Elsewhere, Garden Ring was set as a 10-20 sazhen (22–43 meters) wide street; unused side territories were allocated to existing homeowners on condition that they plant and maintain gardens at their own expense. These streets usually have a name beginning with Sadovaya–, e.g. Sadovo–Triumphalnaya Street. By 1850, all buildings in this street were completely hidden from view by foliage; the street, indeed, was running through a garden. In south-eastern segment (Tagansky District), the Ring was not as wide, thus Zemlyanoy Val name persisted. Largest square - actually, a combination of two market squares - was created at Red Gates in the north-eastern segment.
In the 1830s-1862, Novinsky Boulevard has become a popular amusement park with cheap theaters and carousels. In 1841, local entrepreneurs set up a short railroad with a real Mercury tank engine - a pleasure ride for the party crowds.
1935 Joseph Stalin's master plan of Moscow provided for expansion of Garden Ring to at least 30-40 meter width, and demolition of buildings set at the ends of Garden Ring boulevards to create wide open squares. Grand Stalinist buildings, envisioned on all the ring, were initially planned only for major squares like Kursky Rail Terminal Square and Triumphalnaya Square. However, one end-of-boulevard block survives, precisely on Triumphalnaya Square, atop the six-lane tunnel. The same plan required removal of tram tracks in line with Moscow Metro construction. In fact, removal of tram tracks proceeded well in advance of subway construction; by 1938, tram remained only in southern and south-eastern segments of the Ring (this segment was closed in 1961).
Stalinist construction proceeded after World War II, notably the three skyscrapers (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Kudrinskaya Square and Red Gates Square buildings of 1947-1954). However, no part of the Ring was completely rebuilt in Stalinist style (or any other style). Any street of the Ring is a mixture of different style and sizes, from single-story 1820s mansions to recently built shopping malls and the 162-meter Swissotel in Red Hills (2005).[15]
From the 1990s till 2010, the city government has proposed conversion of the Garden Ring to a one-way street, completely separated from radial street traffic. The public and professionals equally reject the idea of a one-way, 18-lane street.
Since 2010, with the arrival of the new city government, these plans were canceled. In 2016 a new reconstruction began. Trolleybus traffic was eliminated, they were replaced by diesel buses. It is planned to narrow down all section of the Ring to not more than 10 lanes, to expand the sidewalks and to take off all the wires.

Taganskaya Street is a street in the center of Moscow in the Tagansky District between Taganskaya Square and Abelmanovskaya Zastava Square.The street originated as a road from Moscow through the Tagansky Gate of the Earthen City and was originally called Taganka, which is historically associated with Tagansky Hill and the later names Tagannaya Sloboda and Tagansky Gate. In the XVII century, the name Semyonovskaya Street appeared. These two names competed for a long time: on the plan of 1739 — Taganka, Semenovka also; on the plan of 1858-Taganka Street and its continuation Semenovskaya; on the plan of 1915, the entire street is inscribed as Semenovskaya. In 1918, it was renamed the Soviet, and in 1922 in Taganskaya. The name Semyonovskaya Street appeared in the XVII century in connection with the relocation of part of the inhabitants of the Semyonovskaya settlement, located on the Yauza River. The name Sovetskaya Street is a characteristic ideological stamp of that time, replaced in 1922 by a historical name solely out of necessity to eliminate the eponymous name.
Nizhny Novgorod Street is a large street in the center and east of Moscow in the Tagansky and Nizhny Novgorod districts between Abelmanovskaya Zastava Square and the Okruzhnaya Railway. Part of the eastern highway Taganskaya Street-Nizhegorodskaya Street-Ryazan Avenue.At the end of the XVII century, together with Taganskaya Street, it was part of the Gzhel Road. Later it was called Pokrovskaya Street after the former Pokrovskaya Zastava Square (since 1919 Abelmanovskaya Zastava Square), then it was included in the Ryazan Highway. In 1922, part of the former Ryazan Highway was turned into Nizhny Novgorod Street. The name is based on the old Nizhny Novgorod railway station located next to it in 1861-1896, which was later turned into a freight station of the Gorky direction of the Moscow Railway. The Tangansky Protected Command Point, also known as An-02 (1947), FS-293 (1951), FS-572 (1953), and GO-42 (from 1980), as well as RFQ Tagan (and now known as the exhibition complex bunker-42) is a once-secret military complex, bunker, and Spare Long-Range Aviation Command Post (ET-42) in Moscow, Russia, near the underground station of Taganskaya. It has an area of 7,000 square metres (75,000 sq ft) and is situated at a depth of 65 metres (213 ft) below ground.
