We found PARADISE in Tabasco Mexico! (Hiking to Waterfalls in TAPIJULAPA)

In todays Mexico travel vlog we are exploring the Pueblo Magico Tapijulapa Tabasco Mexico! Located 2 hours south of Villahermosa Tabasco, Tapijulapa could be Tabasco Mexico’s BEST kept secret a true Mexican Paradise!

Tapijulapa Tabasco is a small pueblo known for its white washed walls and red tiled roofs. It’s set amongst the Sierras of Tabasco on the banks of two rivers in a beautiful jungle setting. Near the town lies Villa Luz, and ecological park known for its cascades, caves, and unique colored water!

Since Tapijulapa is off the beaten path, we couldn’t find much information about it, i.e. we have no plan - but hope to find a guide to take us around and show us the area! Come along with us as we figure it all out with you and have A LOT of fun along the way!

We definitely recommend visiting Tabasco Mexico just to go to the Pueblo Magico Tapijulapa Tabasco and witness the beautiful waterfalls at Villa Luz.

Villahermosa Tabasco Mexico 2021

Travel Vlog of Tom Agaster The Last Bohemian 2021 Mexico

Villahermosa is the capital of the Tabasco state in Mexico in the Northern part of the Yucatan peninsula about in the middle between Mexico City and Cancun, near Palenque. The city has a very lovely historical center with the quarter called Luz, historical buildings, the Plaza de Armas and old trees can be seen here, with a pedestrian area and other plazas with pleasant atmosphere, just to walk around and eat some of the local foods in the many restaurants.

I stayed here for a few days on the way to the Pacific coast, coming from Calakmul in the center of Yucatan. I visited the open air museum with Olmec sculptures and items dating from around 400 to 700 B.C. from a place called La Venta, which is around 120 km from Villahermosa, where the Olmec archeological site is located. The museum is at a laguna next to an area with modern buildings and conference center.

CHIAPAS, MEXICO | 7 Best Places To Visit In Chiapas, Mexico

We explored the best places to go in Chiapas during an amazing 12-day road trip. In this video, we break down the best places to go in Chiapas, Mexico from our perspective. We had an amazing time visiting these Chiapas destinations and would highly recommend a road trip of your own one day to see them! Places we visited included: El Chiffon, Lagunas de Montebello, Las Nubes, the Lacandon Jungle, Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, and the Sumidero Canyon. Enjoy our video on the best places to go in Chiapas!

1. El Chiflón
The first stop on our Chiapas road trip was El Chiflón, near the city of Comitán. This is possibly the best place to go in Chiapas because of its otherworldly beauty. El Chiflon had some of the most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen in our lives.

2. Lagunas de Montebello
Only 85 kilometres, or 53 miles, South from El Chiflon are the Lagunas de Montebello. This national park consists of 59 multi-coloured lakes in a pine forest. It’s a great place to hike, horse-back ride, drive around, and explore the lakes by traditional “balsa” boats.

3. Las Nubes
The next stop on our road trip was Las Nubes. The town and waterfalls are tucked away in the Chiapas jungle and don’t attract as many tourists as the other Chiapas highlights. This is why Las Nubes is truly one of the best places to go in Chiapas. The waterfalls stretch for kilometres and we highly recommend doing the full trail to the various viewpoints.

4. Lacandon jungle
The Lacandon Jungle is the most unique place to go in Chiapas! Not only is this the biggest rainforest in Mexico, but it is also home to the Lacandon people, who are the descendants of the ancient Maya. When the Spanish arrived in Mexico, this group fled to the jungle and survived as a culture by living deep in the rainforest. They were out of contact with the rest of the world until the 20th century.

5. Palenque
Palenque was the next stop on our road trip and one of the most famous places to go in Chiapas. Known for its mighty Mayan temples, this place is one of the best examples of Maya architecture in Mexico. Only 2% of the ruins are uncovered, which means that 98% are still covered by the surrounding land. We went on a 3 hour tour of the ruins and the jungle, which we highly recommend. During the final jungle part you’ll uncover houses of the Mayan people and find unique animals of the area.

6. San cristobal de las Casas
The colonial town of San Cristobal de las Casas is arguably one of the prettiest cities in all of Mexico. Its Historical Centre is filled with gorgeous colourful architecture and wide patios against a mountain backdrop. But besides being charming, this town is also extremely interesting thanks to its ancient past and blend of different cultures.

7. Sumidero Canyon
The Sumidero Canyon was the final stop on our road trip around Chiapas. It’s located right outside the city of Tuxtla Guttierez, and can be explored from the water as well as from the canyon walls. We did a boat ride from Chiapa de Corzo, which takes you through the canyon for 2 to 3 hours.

Villahermosa, Tabasco: Local Pozol Chocolate Drink - Travel Clip

Try the chocolate drink called, Pozol when in Villahermosa, the capital city of Tabasco in Mexico.

Pozol is made from boiled corn meal, ground up cacao beans, and other grains.
It is served cold and usually accompanied by a candied papaya.

This traditional chocolate drink dates back centuries and in its original form, had no sweeteners added. That's why after taking a sip, you then bite off a little papaya candy to take the bite out of the unsweetened chocolate.

QUESTION?
Have you tried Pozol? Just jot down your response in the comments section. Love to hear from you!

10 Things That Will SHOCK You about Mexico

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Villahermosa, Especial Travel Influencers

An Introduction to Villahermosa Part 1: Mexican State Capitols

This is our arrival to Villahermosa the capitol city of the Mexican state of Tabasco. We took a night bus from Campeche to Tabasco that took 6 hrs, but it was very comfortable. Once we got to Villahermosa we had a typical Tabasco breakfast which had salbutes (a kind of a soft tostada) and tamales wrapped in banana leaves. Then we were off to the Governor's Palace to see what the center of the city was like #villahermosa #tabasco #mexicanstatecaptiols #tabasco capital #pedrozatravel #elderp

History and geography of Tabasco (the state in Mexico, not the hot sauce)

Tabasco is a small, verdant, and very hot state in southern Mexico. Mexico’s first civilization, the Olmec civilization, was based in Tabasco and neighboring Veracruz. In this video, I introduce the geography and some of the early history of the Tabasco, including the Olmecs and the Maya.
