Dunkirk 2010 Commemorative March (clip 2 - between Wylder and Warhem)

A group of 25 re-enactors from various UK and US based re-enactment groups march from Béthune to the beaches of Dunkirk in full BEF kit, a total of about 50 miles to mark the 70th Anniversary of the retreat to Dunkirk.

The route followed one that was used in May 1940, leading through Le Paradis, Merville, Hazebrouck, Cassel, Wormhout, Herzeele, Wylder, Warhem, Téteghem/Uxem, Leffrinckoucke. The march started in the afternoon of Thursday 27 May and the group arrived at the beach on Sunday 30 May. Along the way two massacre sites and several Commonwealth War Graves cemeteries were visited to pay respect to the fallen and lay wreaths.

Nights were spent in a disused factory building, bunker, barn and sports hall using only a greatcoat and blanket each.

On Monday 31 May the group arrived in Dover for a parade & inspection by the Lady Mayor of Dover and a short (private) commemorative service at the original Railway Station where in May and June 1940 thousands of troops disembarked.

Property for Sale in Victor Harbor - 6 Holder Road

RUSTIC CHALET STYLE RESIDENCE - ONE OF A KIND ON THE FLEURIEU!
An amazing architectural treasure, circa 1990, built by a local builder, Virgin K.L. & Sons as their residence on a beautiful location set high amongst the tree tops, surrounded by native trees and flora with views of the hills.
This is truly a one of a kind on the Fleurieu Peninsula, with so much rustic charm and character. Though tucked away in the hills of Victor Harbor, it is only minutes to amenities, shops, schools, cafes, restaurants and the beach.
The two storey residence combines a blend of sandstones, natural timbers and rendering with selected building materials sourced from the old Port Adelaide Woolsheds dating back 150 years including substantial timber support beams.
As you walk-up the stairs from the manicured lawn and garden area and through a stunning antique cedar entrance door plus side leadlight panels to the formal entrance hall and sitting room, it is matched with large supporting beams, terracotta tiles and rendered walls; certainly is a great introduction to the character of this quality residence.
On the ground floor you will find two bedrooms, main bathroom and access door to the workshop, store room and garage.
The upper floor will take your breath away with raked timber ceiling, mezzanine study/library area and sunken lounge with timber jar-rah floor and large windows overlooking the hills. The open plan family/dining area with slow combustion heater and slate floor has access to the rear terrace garden and outdoor paved entertainment area.
Adjacent to the dining area is the well laid out spacious kitchen with pantry, plenty of bench space and equipped with ILVE Stove that includes double electric ovens and
5 burner gas cook top plus exhaust surround with country character. Easy access from the kitchen is the spacious laundry only a step away from the rear clothes line.
On the same floor, there is a sunken master suite with walk-in robe, French doors leading to the balcony, and country style bathroom with shower, vanity, beautiful claw bath, baroque mirror and heritage coloured tiles and freesia plus separate W.C.
The top verandah has Oregon timbers with two roller blinds for added shelter and provides the ideal space for those lazy afternoons watching the hills change in colour through the day or for entertaining friends and family.
Not only does it have grand style and plenty of character, it is designed for practical living with a spacious workshop that has electricity and access to under the main roof garage. The store room adjacent would be ideal as a cellar for those precious wines that need a few extra years to mature.
It can also park a few cars with the double carport and purposely built carport for a 23’caravan or perhaps a boat or extra vehicles.
The grounds are fully established with native gums and shrubs at the front and a private secluded terrace rear garden with red character brick paving, blue stone retaining walls and tranquil pond complete with gold fish. Great for entertainment is a top of the range 8 person ozone filtered spa and covered outdoor kitchen with built- in BBQ area featuring polished timber bench tops, stainless steel sink and splash backs plus room allocation for a bar fridge.
It would not be complete without a 2.35 kW, 10 panels solar system, front and rear lawn pop-up irrigation system with 4 stations, 5000 Lt water tank plus garden & wood shed.
This property offers the charm of yesteryears with all the modern extras that today’s living demands only a short drive to McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek Wine Regions and approximately 60 minutes to Adelaide.
