Kadykchan - the Largest Ghost Town in Eastern Russia
Kadykchan is a depopulated urban locality of Magadan Region, Russia.
It was built by GULAG prisoners during World War II for the purposes of coal extraction. Coal was used mainly at a local electric power station, which supplied electricity to 2/3 of the Magadan region. In the late eighties, more than 10 thousand people lived there. Life was in full swing: shops, restaurants, a cinema, a House of Culture, a bathhouse worked. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, coal mining in the area became increasingly unprofitable.

Road trip 2021: Magadan – Yakutsk – Moscow. How to survive at the Oymyakon Pole of Cold
How did we get the idea for a road trip from Magadan to Yakutsk to Moscow?

The route is over 12,000 km (7,500 miles) long:
Magadan – Susuman – Ust – Nera – Oymyakon – Tomtor – Khandyga – Yakutsk – Neryungri – Chita – Ulan-Ude – Irkutsk – Tayshet – Krasnoyarsk – Kemerovo – Novosibirsk – Omsk – Tyumen – Yekaterinburg – Kungur – Naberezhnye Chelny – Nizhny Novgorod – Moscow
It was actually really simple. Thanks to a certain nasty virus, the entire world was shut down. Pretty boring, right? I mean, you can’t really fly anywhere. So we had to come up with something else to do. We dug around in the archives and asked other travelers about interesting places to go in Russia in the winter. They had a bunch of different suggestions, one of which was Oymyakon.
I agreed pretty much right away. I figured we could go there during the holiday break, soak in the local atmosphere, and see what -50°C (-58°F) really feels like. But instead of “zip over to the pole of cold, freeze our butts off, and then go back,” we found ourselves in a magical world of white expanses, endless roads, and constant motion. We were all just enchanted and hypnotized by it. And we froze our butts off too, of course :)
But when we got to Yakutsk, I realized that we couldn’t just stop there. So we traded in our horses and buggies and kept going until we got to Moscow. But that wasn’t so much for tourism or curiosity as for work — we had to meet with partners and clients from all over the country.

HOW FAR EAST CAN YOU GET TO BY HITCHHIKING | 2032KM From Yakutsk to Magadan (Road of Bones)
I was always wondering what is the easternmost city you can get to by road on the Eurasian continent, and it turns out to be Magadan. I took my backpack and left my apartment in Yakutsk to see what is at the end of this road.

Давно хотел съездить на Ударник - такой поселок в Сусуманском районе, в былые времена были у меня там друзья-меломаны и видео салонщики, я сам бывал там не раз, все-таки собрался и приехал на микроавтобусе Mitsubishi Delica.
В поселке в общем порядочек, разрушенные деревянных дома убраны, ровненько и аккуратненько, стоит какая-то артель, названия ни где нет, и спросить забыл.
Ударник — посёлок в Сусуманском городском округе Магаданской области России.
До 2015 года входил в состав сельского поселения посёлок Широкий.
Находится на правобережье реки Берелёх (бассейн реки Колымы) в 42 км к северу от районного центра Сусумана, в 423 км к от Магадана.
Ближайшие населенные пункты: Широкий 10 км, Мальдяк 23 км.
В поселке было семь улиц.
Координатами центра поселка Ударника можно считать 63°08' с.ш. и 147°53' в.д.
Посмотреть на него, а за одно полетал на дроне DJI Air 2S...

I have long wanted to go to Udarnik - such a village in the Susumansky district, in the old days I had music lovers friends and video salon workers there, I myself have been there more than once, nevertheless I packed up and arrived in a Mitsubishi Delica minibus.
In the village, in general, order, the destroyed wooden houses were cleaned, evenly and neatly, there is some kind of artel, there is no name anywhere, and I forgot to ask.
Udarnik is a village in the Susuman city district of the Magadan region of Russia.
Until 2015, the Shiroky settlement was part of the rural settlement.
It is located on the right bank of the Berelekh River (the basin of the Kolyma River), 42 km north of the district center Susuman, 423 km north of Magadan.
Nearest settlements: Wide 10 km, Maldyak 23 km.
The village had seven streets.
The coordinates of the center of the village of Udarnik can be considered 63°08'N. and 147°53'E
To look at it, and for one flew the DJI Air 2S drone ...

REVIÍT! Riding Gear - Long Term Honest Review!
In this video, I will tell you how was my REVÍT! gear, jacket, pants, thermal underwear, and boots, on this long trip from Varna to Magadan and back. The gear that I used on this trip was an Offtrack 2 jacket, Dominator GTX pants, and Expedition H2O boots.
During my last trip, I had temperatures from + 3 to 36. All possible riding conditions: cold, hot, rain, mud, wind, and all together at the same time. I also had a lot of dusty days.
I haven't tested the gear only on snow and crash accidents, and I hope I won't be able to do it any time soon!

Озеро Момонтай находится на севере Магаданской области, близко к границе с Якутией, административно принадлежит Сусуманскому району. Водоём простирается в меридиональном направлении, в длину занимает около 12 километров, в самом широком месте не более 3 километров. Ледникового происхождения, с восточного берега наблюдается обширная и довольно мощная морена. Из северной оконечности озера вытекает одноимённая река, правый приток Омулёвки, которая принадлежит бассейну Колымы. Момонтай лежит на высоте чуть больше 1000 метров над уровнем моря в обширной межгорной котловине, на восточных склонах горного массива Оханджа, одного из многочисленных хребтов глобальной горной системы Черского. Это озеро вдалеке от населённых пунктов, сюда нет дорог, добраться можно только на вездеходе или вертолётом. Люди тут бывают нечасто. Хотя в северной оконечности есть рыболовная база одной из местных старательских артелей, тем не менее, хозяева здесь тоже бывают нечасто. Рыбы здесь действительно немало, хариус, сиг, много мальмы. А также абсолютно первозданная природа.

Momontai Lake is located in the north of the Magadan Region, close to the border with Yakutia, administratively belongs to the Susumansky District. The reservoir extends in the meridional direction, takes about 12 kilometers in length, at the widest point no more than 3 kilometers. Glacial origin, from the eastern shore there is an extensive and quite powerful moraine. From the northern end of the lake flows the river of the same name, the right tributary of Omulevka, which belongs to the Kolyma basin. Momontai lies at an altitude of just over 1000 meters above sea level in a vast intermountain basin, on the eastern slopes of the Ohanja massif, one of the many ridges of the Chersky global mountain system.
This lake is far from settlements, there are no roads, you can only get there by an all-terrain vehicle or by helicopter. People here are infrequent. Although in the northern end there is a fishing base of one of the local artisanal artels, however, the owners here are also infrequent. There are really a lot of fish, grayling, whitefish, a lot of malma. And also absolutely pristine nature.
