LAKE SEBU, HOME OF THE T'BOLI - SOUTH COTABATO | PHILIPPINES Southeast Asia Travel Vlog
Lake Sebu, is a 1st class municipality in the province of South Cotabato, Philippines. The placid lake of the same name, Lake Sebu can be found in Allah Valley near the municipality of Surallah, South Cotabato. Surrounded by rolling hills and mountains covered with thick rain forest, the lake has an area of 354 hectares (870 acres), with an elevation of approximately 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). The Philippine government has recognized it as one of the country's most important watersheds. Lake Sebu is one of the many bodies of water supplying important irrigation to the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato. The villages around the lake have been turned into an independent municipality after being a former village of Surallah.
The lake's shores and the surrounding rainforest are home to the indigenous T'bolis, Tirurays, Ubos and Manobos. One of the major tribes, the T'bolis are known for their weaving skills and brassware production as well as fishing skills. The economy is based on aquaculture of Tilapia grown in large fish cages floating in the lake. More than one half of the land around the lake is cultivated for agriculture. The Philippine government is also trying to promote ecotourism in the area.
The bestselling Lonely Planet described Lake Sebu as a place located in a “bowl of forests and mountains.” The 42,450-hectare landscape consisting the domains of the Allah Valley is recognized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a cultural landscape in Mindanao.

I Stayed in the MOST SACRED Place in the Philippines for One Night ???????? | Lake Holon in South Cotabato
Lake Holon is located in the T'boli region in South Cotabato in Mindanao. It has been a sacred place for the T'boli tribe, and 15 guardians are believed to protect Lake Holon.
For me to hike Lake Holon, I joined an organised tour. We registered ourselves in T'boli and jumped on dumpster trucks to get to Sitio Kule. It was actually a rough ride to get there, but it was a good experience for me. At the receiving centre in Kule, we had free snacks and watched T'boli dance and began to hike.
The difficulty of the hike was very low, and it was very beginner friendly, to be honest. Especially after completing Mt Apo, it was just a chill hike to me.
On the way to the campsite, we got to take the boat, and it was 60 pesos. If you want to go to the outlet, which is a river flowing into Lake Holon, it's 100 pesos. Either way, the boat ride in Lake Holon was very nice and refreshing and so was swimming in the lake.
I couldn't recommend it more than other campsites in the Philippines because of the atmosphere that Lake Holon creates. It was a pure beauty of nature.

Tourist Attraction in Philippines, Lake Sebu
A tourist Attraction in Philippines is Lake Sebu. It is a natural lake located in South Cotabato, in the island of Mindanao. The Tiboli ( T'boli) and Ubo tribe were once the original dwellers there. It is now a prime source of Tilapia for the region and a tourist attraction.
When I visited my family in Philippines we visited Lake Sebu. We first went ziplining, which was a great experience. You start by walking down 774 steps down a forest towards 2 waterfalls. Once you arrive at the zip line's entrance, you're given your body vest which would strap you on to the zip line. The ride itself wasn't scary as a small parachute inflates behind, slowing down your ride. The view is amazing as you get to see the other 5 waterfalls below you as you go across the mountain. Once you're done, I recommend paying for a motorcycle ride up the mountain as the walk is steep back to the entrance.
We had lunch at Punta Isla resort on Lake Sebu. It's one of the biggest resort. Some people from the Tiboli tribe had their traditional clothing on and had a performance. We had lunch on a floating cottage on the lake. We ordered so much food, which was tilapia cooked in a variety of ways. There was 15 of us and the cost of the food was $75.
We took a mini boat tour of the lake passing by several fish farms. While the boat ride was noisy, the lake was beautiful and serene.

South Cotabato has become one of the fastest growing provinces in the Philippines and is home to the ethnic group, T’boli. It features a microclimate that makes it lots of fun to go around. Marbel or Koronadal, the provincial Capitol of South Cotabato can usually get quite warm. Lake Sebu, on the other hand, has been called “Little Baguio.” It’s nice and cool, and a good place for a breath of fresh, cool air.
My trip is a whole lof of fun bonding with relatives.... a home to me...
