Nasi Beti Bu Karmini ( - Bu Karmini is known for her incredible food especially nasi tongkol, or rice with spicy mackerel and her spicy chili carbs which were some of the best chili crab I’ve ever had!
Bebek Tumapel Mbak Roh ( ) - Sambal is one of the greatest parts of any Indonesian food meal and you’ll eat it with just about everything. This place is famous for their bebek goreng, or friend duck, but especially for their spicy and sweet sambal.
Depot Gito ( - If you love spicy food, this is another absolute must eat Indonesian street food experience. You choose all the food you want, everything is deep fried and it’s served with an insanely spicy and tasty sambal chili sauce. One of their highlight dishes is Ayam Penyet - Fried chicken smashed with sambal.
Sego Sambel Mak Yeye ( - This street food stall is famous for a reason, it’s one of the best restaurants in Surabaya. They served rice topped with omelets and salted stingray and a small mountain of chili tomato sambal sauce. The combination is out of this world - one of the best meals in Surabaya!
Indonesia is a spicy food heaven and if you want to eat spicy when you’re in Surabaya, they won’t joke around!

EP 3 Srinagar to Gurez Valley- 140 km Travel to unexplored Kashmir | Razdan Pass | Offbeat Kashmir
Gurez Valley can be accessed by road from Srinagar and the road condition is good. This journey can take about 5 to 6 hours, with minimal breaks. We visited Gurez valley in the month of June, which is the peak season time.
Gurez valley is cut off from rest of the kashmir during winter time ie November to March.
This Video was shot on 26th June 2023.
Below are the activities / key destinations we visited enroute on way to Gurez valley.
Sumbal - It's a town and a notified area committee in the Bandipora district Kashmir. It is about 30 km away from Srinagar & 120 km away from Gurez.
Sunset Point Wular Lake - Wular lake is said to be Asia's largest freshwater lake. It is about 45 km away from Srinagar. The Jhelum river is the prime source of water for this lake.
Bandipora - It is also known as Gateway to Central Asia. It is about 65 km away from Srinagar, Earlier Bandipora and Baramulla were one district now these are two different districts.
Gurez valley falls in Bandipora district.
Tragbal - It is a breakpoint for tourists to enjoy some light snacks under the sheltering fires with soft mountain breeze, there are about 8 to 10 eateries at this place.
Tragbal has some trekking opportunities as well, you may check that out with some locals.
Razdan pass is about 10 km away from Tragbal.
Peer Baba's Shrine - It is in North Kashmir's Bandipora district 4 km away from Razdan Pass & is the inimitable symbol of shared faith and serves as a way to brotherhood.
Saint Peer Baba is believed to have established himself in a cave here in 1933, when he was 35 years old. The religion of Peer Baba was unknown. Therefore, people from all religions visit the shrine and pray for the fulfillment of their desires.
Razdan Pass - It is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 11,672 ft above sea level in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The pass was named after a local warrior who fought bravely against the invaders and defended the region from foreign invasions.
The pass played a crucial role in the Silk Route trade between India and China, and it continues to be an important trade route for the region. Gurez Valley is about 35 km away from here.
If you wish to know whether Gurez valley is open or not, ie you want to know the status of roads, then you can approach TRC in Srinagar.
It is strongly advised that before you visit Gurez , do check before hand on roads being open for tourism.

Kishan Ganga River - It is a major tributary of the west-flowing Jhelum River. It is also known as Neelum River.

Kaka Palace - We ended our day at Dawar and booked our room in this hotel. Dawar is the largest town of Gurez valley.
There has been a lot of development in Dawar since last 3 -4 years ever since Gurez valley has been opened for tourism.
Tariff at kaka palace 4500 plus tax for double occupancy including breakfast and dinner. If you are looking at homestay/guest house accommodation in Gurez it is advised to book in advance as this place has limited stay options.
Electricity - This place has a challenge on electricity, some homestays like kaka palace have their own Generators but they are not allowed to run them after 11 pm., plus they have solar setup but not homestays have that. You may want to check this out before you book./

Ganderbal | Top 6 Tourist Places in Ganderbal District | Ganderbal Travel Guide | Jammu & Kashmir
Ganderbal is situated at coordinates 34.23°N 74.78°E and possesses an average elevation of 1,619 metres (5,312 feet). It shares borders with district Srinagar to the south, Bandipore to the north, Kargil to the northeast, Anantnag to the southeast, and Baramulla to the southwest. The district is divided into four blocks, namely Ganderbal, Kangan, Lar, and Wakoora. Nallah Sindh, a significant tributary of the Jehlum river, flows through this region. The river's water is primarily utilized for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. Notably, three hydroelectric power stations, namely Lower Sindh Hydroelectric Power Project Ganderbal, Upper Sindh Hydroelectric Power Project 1st Kangan, and Upper Sindh Hydroelectric Power Project 2nd Sumbal, generate electricity along the Nallah Sindh. Additionally, the water from the river is used for drinking purposes by the entire Srinagar city through the Rangil Water Treatment Plant. To promote the tourism industry in the Kashmir valley, water rafting tournaments are organized annually at the renowned tourist destination of Sonamarg. Foreign tourists visiting the valley are attracted to the famous Gangabal Lake, located at the foot of Mount Haramukh, in addition to the Manasbal Lake. The mountain lakes of Vaishnosar and Gadsar, situated north of Sonamarg, are also renowned for their scenic beauty.

Faqir Gujri's Astanmarg is a mountaintop amidst the Zabarwan hill range with exotic pastures and lush meadows. It is 6 kilometers uphill from Harwan, the most beautiful of Mughal gardens. Astanmarg is a ridge within Kashmir. It has an elevation of 2,720 metres. The Tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir introduced Paragliding at Astanmarg and slowly it is becoming quite popular with the tourists. It's quite close to a village called Dara about 15 kilometres from Srinagar on the Nishat-Shalimar garden road, which leads towards Dachigam National Park and following that the climb starts, which is actually very steep. IT'S A TOP PLACE TO WATCH THE SUNSET.

1- Barwala waterfall kangan
Barwalla is a town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kangan Tehsil of the district Ganderbal. The capital city Srinagar is around 34 km away from the location of the Barwalla Waterfall.
One kilometer away from Kijora Bridge or Kangan’s Dumping Park is the location where Barwalla Waterfall is situated.
If approaching from the Ganderbal side, visitors must make a left turn well before the Kijpora bridge in order to reach this lovely waterfall of Barwalla.
Interesting facts about Barwalla Waterfall Ganderbal
A man-made channel is causing rushing water to fill the area (waterfall).
The Nallah originates in the Harmukh mountain, flows through Naranag, and then meets the Kankanala, which is also a mountain that originates in the Harmukh range.
After the confluence of the two rivers, the Sindh River meets the Barwala River close to the Kijora Bridge.
Barwalla Waterfall is one of Kashmir’s largest artificial waterfalls and is among its most picturesque and stunning features.
The area is encircled by lovely trees.
2. Wayil Ganderbal
Wayil s a tourist village in the Ganderbal District of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is located on the bank of Sind River, around 9 km from Ganderbal, 30 km northeast from Srinagar, at NH 1D which connects Srinagar and Ladakh.

Fighting in the region has worsened since the Mumbai attacks.
