Dengta City, Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, the county-level city, is located in central Liaoning Province, the core area of the economic corridor of the eastern three provinces and the central part of Shenyang Economic Zone, adjoining Benxi City in the east, bordering Sujiatun District in Shenyang City in the north, connected with Liaoyang City District and Liaoyang County in the south, and looking at Liaocheng District in Shenyang City in the west with the Hun River. The city covers an area of 1,167 square kilometers, with 3 streets, 10 towns and 1 township, 18 communities and 193 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. As of November 2020, the resident population of Dengta is 354,600.
Dengta is an emerging industrial city and is one of the important birthplaces of the Neolithic period in China. The topography is high in the east and low in the west, and the eastern part belongs to the remainder of the Thousand Mountains, with the mountainous area accounting for 24% of the total area of the city. There are 33 rivers in the city, including Hun River, Prince River and North Shahe River, and 18 rivers with a watershed of more than 50 square kilometers. Provincial highway Liaoguan line, small small line cross through, Dengliao Expressway through the territory, connected to the Shenhai Expressway and Beijing-Harbin Expressway, and has an exit in Tong Erbao.

China Steam 2012 - Part 4 of 4 - Beitai iron mongery
Steam locomotives in Beitai steel factory (North-Eastern China). The high furnaces depicted in this video were closed in December 2012 and steam locomotives are no longer present on the site.
Steam Locomotives in China - 1981
The Datong locomotive factory situated in the Northern Shanxi province of China, was a major producer of steam locomotives for the Chinese railway system up to 1988 when production switched to diesel-powered locomotives. Our correspondent visited the location and surrounding area in 1981 where the majority of this short film was shot. The services in and around this area were 100% steam-powered at this time.

Just before leaving the area to visit the loco depot and workshops we heard an SY with a train of loaded coal wagons heading for the power plant. When it started to slip on the incline from the mine we rapidly set up our equipment again to record the drama. December 2009
Chinese steam 2011 Hongmiao
Hongmiao coal mine is not far from Yuanbaoshan. A lone SY works hard on its short trips, making a visit worthwhile.

It then makes a spirited uphill run though the trees taking empties to the mine.
At the mine the SY makes up a train of loaded coal wagons before departing tender first for the National Rail exchange sidings at Malin.

Steam in China 2000 – Daban Loco Depot, Ji-Tong Line
The video begins with some scenes shot at the east end of the Jing Peng Pass overlooking the small town of Reshui. This is followed by some shunting at an unknown location on the Ji-Tong Line.
Until the line was dieselised in 2005, Daban Loco Depot was probably the last standard gauge main line steam depot in the world. It was always noisy and full of atmosphere. The Ji-Tong line was not part of China Rail but a Provincial Railway in Inner Mongolia that used QJ class locomotives purchased second hand from them. As well as routine maintenance and repair, Daban Depot refurbished ex China Rail QJs for use on the line.
LCGB China 1994 Sujiatun
This is the third of around 10 videos showing the different locations visited on the LCGB China trip in 1994 led by Colin Miell. The video shows Sujiatun depot, industrial loco works and passing trains. The initial shots seen from my hotel room are of Shenyang Station built during the Japanese era to a design based on Tokyo Station.

LCGB China 1994 Hunhe
This is the second of around 10 videos showing the different locations visited on the LCGB China trip in 1994 led by Colin Miell. The video shows Hunhe station south of Shenyang which is close to the depot at Sujiatun (see the third video for that). We see QJ on freight, high-deflector JS on local passenger trains and some early diesels as well as a pair of SY in transit in a freight consist. We move from Hunhe back towards Shenyang for the final shots. On Google Maps, Hunhe station is in the middle of this view: - although the area is rapidly changing and becoming more urbanised.

The video shows footage of a visit to Anshan Steelworks including slag tipping and various non-standard Chinese locos including a USA tank and several PL2 2-6-2.
