Ukranian 2TE10s in the Carpathian Mountains
The Ukrainian Railways still relies heavily on Soviet Era 2TE10 diesels, known for their Fairbanks Morse inspired prime movers that produce incredible bass sounds and massive volumes of smoke. Currently the Ivano Frankivsk - Rahkiv line in far western Ukraine is one of the best places to see them in action with several heavy express trains on the weekends and steep grades that ensure the locos will be working flat out. We begin our trip in Lviv and after a journey to Yarameche we see several examples at work at scenic locations along the line.

Lviv — the city of cities: a charity fair-exhibition took place in Stryi Park.
People from all over Ukraine presented the cultural features of their regions. Ukrainians from Donetsk region, Luhansk region, Kherson region, Kharkiv region, Sumy region, Kyiv region, Zaporizhzhia and Crimea, who now live in Lviv, joined the fair-exhibition. At the charity fair-exhibition, visitors were introduced to the culture of different regions of Ukraine.
Lectures, master classes, face art and musical performances took place at the event. Visitors were treated to traditional dishes from Crimea, Kherson and Skadovsk. Relocated enterprises presented their craft products, coffee, etc. Also, during the fair-exhibition, money was collected for the Ukrainian military.

Lviv is the largest city in western Ukraine and the seventh-largest city in the country overall, with a population of 724,314 (2020 est.). Lviv is one of the main cultural centres of Ukraine. Named in honour of Leo, the eldest son of Daniel, King of Ruthenia, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia from 1272 to 1349, when it was conquered by King Casimir III the Great of Poland. From 1434, it was the regional capital of the Ruthenian Voivodeship in the Kingdom of Poland. In 1772, after the First Partition of Poland, the city became the capital of the Habsburg Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria. In 1918, for a short time, it was the capital of the West Ukrainian People's Republic. Between the wars, the city was the centre of the Lwów Voivodeship in the Second Polish Republic.
After the German-Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939, Lviv became part of the Soviet Union, and in 1944–46 there was a population exchange between Poland and Soviet Ukraine. In 1991, it became part of the independent nation of Ukraine.
Administratively, Lviv serves as the administrative centre of Lviv Oblast and has the status of city of oblast significance.
Lviv was the centre of the historical regions of Red Ruthenia and Galicia. The historical heart of the city, with its old buildings and cobblestone streets, survived Soviet and German occupations during World War II largely unscathed. The city has many industries and institutions of higher education such as Lviv University and Lviv Polytechnic. Lviv is also the home of many cultural institutions, including a philharmonic orchestra and the Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The historic city centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Guys, we have visited Ukrainian city Lviv in July 2022 and found a lot of foreigners who came for holidays. And thought: if you are still willing to come despite the war - I will give you brief information on how to do it and short review of most popular city in Ukraine:)
So basically crossing the state border by bus/car of Ukraine is possible with:
• a valid passport document ;
• availability of an entry visa, if required;
• availability of a health insurance policy;
• optional: booking reservations and way-back ticket;
Recommendation! Be prepared to confirm the purpose of your entry and stay in Ukraine.
Guys please be advised that Russian invasion of Ukraine is ongoing, with attacks against a number of major cities. Several towns and cities in southern and eastern Ukraine are temporarily under Russian control.
There is a real risk to life. Currently, all territory of Ukraine is under the rocket fire, yet the safest territories are consider to be Lviv District, Zakarpattia region, Ivano-Frankivska district. The Fact: there are many foreign political delegation have arrived to Kyiv.
So please consider this information and check all pros and cons if you are willing to come - feel free to ask me any questions about your visit.

Western Ukraine -- Путешествие по Западной Украине
Закарпатье за два дня: что можно увидеть на Западной Украине, хорошо продумав свой маршрут.
Подняться на гору Гемба на подъемнике, насладиться свежестью воздуха и красотой леса, полакомиться свежесорванной черникой на горе.
Умыться водой из водопада Шипот: местные легенды гласят, что здесь молодящая вода.
Почувствовать прохладу и спокойствие озера Синевир, прогуляться зелеными тропинками вокруг озера.
Дальше на пути - реабилитационный центр бурого медведя «Синевир». Сюда привозят медведей, которым нужна помощь и забота.
Подняться на Замковую гору к руинам Хустского замка, и встретить закат с видом на город Хуст.
Сплав по реке Тиса - захватывающее приключение для всех кто любит природу. Быстрая вода, окружающие горы и леса - большой бонус для сплава.
Прогуляться по Мукачево и его аккуратным улочкам в старом центре. Мукачесвский замок Паланок - одна из древнейших и красивейших украинских крепостей. А закат с высоты замка просто сказочный!
