De Rand van Brussel.
Het ringvormige gebied wordt soms onderscheiden in de noordrand, oostrand, zuidrand en westrand. De zes faciliteitengemeenten waar de verfransing van Vlaanderen speelt, kennen beperkte taalrechten voor Franstaligen. Alle 19 gemeenten maken deel uit van de provincie Vlaams-Brabant en behoren (met uitzondering van Tervuren dat tot het arrondissement Leuven behoort) tot het arrondissement Halle-Vilvoorde (en dus tot het voormalige kiesarrondissement B-H-V). Hoewel de randgemeenten geen bestuurlijk of administratief geheel vormen, genieten ze vanwege de Vlaamse overheden wel een bijzondere belangstelling en sommige gunsten, omdat ze door de nabijheid van het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest te maken hebben met een aantal specifieke uitdagingen op vlak van verkeer, ruimtelijke ordening, internationalisering, grondspeculatie, milieuvervuiling en taalpolitiek. De Vlaamse regering neemt specifieke maatregelen om de verfransing van haar grondgebied tegen te gaan.
De 19 gemeenten grenzen aan een Brusselse gemeente of aan een randgemeente met taalfaciliteiten: zes faciliteitengemeenten Drogenbos, Kraainem, Linkebeek, Sint-Genesius-Rode, Wemmel en Wezembeek-Oppem en de gemeenten Asse, Beersel, Dilbeek, Grimbergen, Hoeilaart, Machelen, Meise, Merchtem, Overijse, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Tervuren, Vilvoorde en Zaventem. Volgens een ruimere definitie horen ook volgende gemeenten bij de brede Rand: Affligem, Gooik, Halle, Huldenberg, Kampenhout, Kortenberg, Lennik, Liedekerke, Pepingen, Steenokkerzeel en Ternat

Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU, ICAO: EBBR) (also called Brussel-Nationaal / Bruxelles-National (Brussels-National) or Zaventem) is an international airport 6.5 NM (12.0 km; 7.5 mi) northeast of Brussels, the capital of Belgium. In 2017, more than 24 million passengers arrived or departed at Brussels Airport, making it the 23rd busiest airport in Europe. It is located partially in Zaventem, partially in the Diegem area of Machelen, and partially in Steenokkerzeel, in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is home to around 260 companies, together directly employing 20,000 people and serves as the home base for Brussels Airlines and TUIfly Belgium.
The company operating the airport is known as The Brussels Airport Company N.V./S.A.; before 19 October 2006, the name was BIAC (Brussels International Airport Company), which was created by Belgian law through a merger of BATC with the ground operations departments of the RLW/RVA. Since 2011, the airport has been owned by the Toronto-based Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (39%), Macquarie Group (Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund I and Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund III) (36%) and the Belgian State (25%).
On 22 March 2016 the airport's departures hall was severely damaged by the two terrorist bomb blasts. The airport was closed until 3 April 2016, when it reopened with temporary facilities at less than 20% of its previous capacity.[5] It has since returned to full operations, with a record of 90,000 passengers on 29 July 2016.
The City of Brussels is the largest municipality and historical centre of the Brussels-Capital Region, and the de jure capital of Belgium. Besides the strict centre, it also covers the immediate northern outskirts where it borders municipalities in Flanders. It is the administrative centre of the European Union, thus often dubbed, along with the region, the EU's capital city.
The City of Brussels is a municipality consisting of the central historic town and certain additional areas within the greater Brussels-Capital Region, namely Haren, Laeken and Neder-Over-Heembeek to the north, and Avenue Louise/Louizalaan and the Bois de la Cambre/Ter Kamerenbos park to the south.
On 1 January 2017, the City of Brussels had a total population of 176,545. The total area is 32.61 km2 (12.59 sq mi) which gives a population density of 5,475 inhabitants per square kilometre (14,180/sq mi). Our property is just inside the outer marker for 26L at the Grand Rapids airport. Daily we see everything from airliners, to corporate jets, to small GA aircraft fly over the house on their final approach. It's a great place to live! Horses and Airplanes!

My first time on an Airbus A320 & British Airways Flight!
The plane was fitted with the new interior, but the space between was still narrow. The takeoff went smooth. There was no delay, also not a very busy flight. The crew gave out some chips and a bottle of water during cruise. The takeoff was with some light turbulence. We had a very good view over Steenokkerzeel, Zaventem and the rest of Brussels. I would definitly fly the A320-200 from British Airways again! For now, enjoy the video!

In deze video bezoeken we het Spottersplatform 01-19
Op 30 juli en 3 september 2020 ben ik op dit spottersplatform geweest om beelden te maken voor mijn video.
Naast het domein, waar je terecht kan om vliegtuigen te zien opstijgen en landen, is er ook een heus speelbos voor kinderen. Allemaal veilig afgesloten van het vliegveld.
Ik heb hiervan wat beelden gemaakt en hiervan een video gemaakt.
