Chapel St Leonards | Lets take a walk down Trunch Lane Chapel St Leonards near Skegness.

Chapel St Leonard's is a popular seaside resort located on the east coast of England. It has a long sandy beach, amusement arcades, cafes, and shops. It is also close to other popular attractions such as Skegness and the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Places to visit in UK | HASTINGS | East Sussex

Hastings is a town on England’s southeast coast. It's known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field where Battle Abbey now stands. The Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, overlook the English Channel. East along the shingle seafront of Stade beach, Hastings Fishermen’s Museum and Shipwreck Museum document maritime history.

As for the Norman Conquests, Hastings is not the actual location of the famous battle in 1066. That exact spot is just a few miles down the road at Battle Abbey.

However, its legacy still colours the entire town. The remains of William the Conqueror's first English castle still stand today, though centuries of warfare and erosion have taken their toll.

Today the town offers a range of attractions for the short break visitor looking for what to do in Hastings. From Britain's steepest funicular, to the meandering alleyways of the Old Town, it's a great place to explore for a few days.

HASTINGS East Sussex - Things To Do & See

This was my first visit to Hastings in East Sussex, exploring the old town, pier, and seafront. The video was filmed over two days.
I could have spent more time exploring Hastings. The resort was a little quiet and some attractions were not open or working on restricted opening hours. The old town and Rock a Nore have their own feel, definitely recommend a wander.
The beaches are shingle and pebbles with a steep slope to the water's edge.
Parking is plenty but beware of the seagulls who love to sit on car roofs and leave a mess.
I hope you enjoy this video, here are some more seaside videos you might want to watch.

Places to see in ( Hastings - UK )

Hastings is a town on England’s southeast coast. It's known for the 1066 Battle of Hastings, fought on a nearby field where Battle Abbey now stands. The Norman ruins of Hastings Castle, once home to William the Conqueror, overlook the English Channel. East along the shingle seafront of Stade beach, Hastings Fishermen’s Museum and Shipwreck Museum document maritime history. The Jerwood Gallery shows contemporary art.

Hastings is a town and borough in East Sussex on the south coast of England, 24 mi (39 km) east of the county town of Lewes and 53 mi (85 km) south east of London. Hastings gives its name to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports. The town became a popular seaside resort in the 19th century with the coming of the railway. Hastings is a fishing port with a beach-based fishing fleet.

Some of the areas and suburbs of Hastings are Ore Valley, St Leonards, Silverhill, West St Leonards, and Hollington. Ore, Silverhill and Hollington were once villages that have since become part of the Hastings conurbation area during rapid growth. Hastings has four rail links: two to London, one to Brighton and one to Ashford. Of the London lines, the shorter is the Hastings Line, the former South Eastern Railway (SER) route to Charing Cross via Battle and Tunbridge Wells, which opened in 1852; and the longer is the East Coastway Line, the former London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LBSCR) route to Victoria via Bexhill, Eastbourne and Lewes.

Hastings Castle was built in 1070 by the Normans, four years after the Norman invasion. It is located on the West Hill, overlooking the town centre and is a Grade I listed building. Little remains of the castle apart from the arch left from the chapel, part of the walls and dungeons. The nearby St. Clements Caves are home to the Smugglers Adventure, which features interactive displays relating to the history of smuggling on the south coast of England.

Hastings Pier can be seen from any part of the seafront in the town. The pier was closed in 2006 following safety concerns from the council. In October 2010, a serious fire burned down most of the buildings on the pier and caused further damage to the structure. However, the pier reopened on 27 April 2016 after a £14.2m refurbishment

Chapel St Leonards - Chapel Point ( North Sea Observatory/Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park)

Video shows our trip on a glorious sunny day to the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.
With 5 miles or glorious sandy beaches and large blue skies we take in the North Sea Observatory at Chapel Point. The Observatory was opened in 2018 and is the UK's first purpose built observatory for marine and bird life. With view over the North sea and the reeds and sand. there is an art space and cafe, and binoculars are available to use. A little way up the wide sandy beach we look at the sound tower, built to emphasize the sounds and views of Chapel Point.
We then walk along the coastal path to Chapel St Leonards a wonderful small traditional seaside town. The perfect place to relax and enjoy an ice cream.
We hope you enjoy this video, we hope to take the path further in a subsequent video taking in Appleby Creek and Sandilands.
