David’s Been Here is traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina in search of the country’s best attractions, coolest destinations and must-visit sites. In this short clip, David takes us on a quick road trip outside the city of Tuzla to the Srebrenik Fortress. The best-preserved medieval fortress in the country (and arguably one of the greatest in the entire Balkans region), this historic hilltop stronghold has some absolutely stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. If you’re road tripping through the country and are in search of some picturesque, historically significant stops along the way, don’t miss the Srebrenik Fortress.

Castles and fortresses in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Originally made of earth and wood, later castles were built of stone, so many still survive today. Spanning a period of 900 years during the middle ages, castles come in many styles of architecture and design. Despite their differences though, they all have one feature in common-- they are fortified. Castles are defensive structures specifically built to withstand attack in the medieval world. Technologies such as arrowslits, murder-holes, and moats further improved their capabilities. Castles finally fell out of favor with the advent of gun powder, as offensive technologies, such as canons, rendered castles largely obsolete.

Places to Visit When in Bosnia | Where to Travel in Bosnia | City of Tuzla

Lets take a tour of Tuzla City.

Tuzla is the third largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the administrative center of Tuzla Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city of Tuzla is home to Europe's only salt lake as part of its central park. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tuzla is also regarded as one of the most multicultural cities in the country and has managed to keep the pluralist character of the city throughout the Bosnian War and after, with Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats and a small minority of Bosnian Jews residing in Tuzla. Tuzla is one of the oldest European sustained settlements. During the period of the Roman Republic (before the area was conquered by Rome), Tuzla (or Salines as it was called at the time) was ruled by the Illyrian tribe Breuci. It remained under Ottoman rule for nearly 400 years.

The Old Stone Bridge - Konjic, Bosnia & Herzegovina

The Old Stone Bridge - Konjic, Bosnia & Herzegovina
David’s Been Here is touring all the must-visit sites and top attractions in Bosnia & Herzegovina. In this short clip, David brings us to the south-central town of Konjic, where he pays a visit to the Old Stone Bridge. Built in the year 1682 by the Ottomans, this historic bridge was destroyed by the Germans in 1945 and then reconstructed in 2009. One of the best examples of Ottoman architecture in all of Bosnia & Herzegovina, this bridge is well worth a visit if you’re driving from the capital city of Sarajevo to the southern city of Mostar. Take some photos of the bridge, stop by for a coffee and take a short tour around this picturesque, quaint town… an interesting and quick day trip in southern central Bosnia & Herzegovina!

David’s Been Here is traveling all over Bosnia & Herzegovina in search of the best destinations and coolest day trips. In this travel short, David heads to one of the best preserved Ottoman towns in Bosnia: Travnik. An old Bosnian capital city (dating back to the 17th and 19th centuries), this historic locale is home to an incredible Ottoman castle (one of the best preserved in the country), beautiful mosques, delicious cevapi and some outrageously good sheep’s cheese (a specialty of the region). Take a stroll through this iconic town in a quick day trip from Sarajevo, and make sure you stop into Travnicki Sir where you can sample a wide variety of different sheep’s cheese- too good to pass up!

Exploring the Most STUNNING City in Bosnia (Jajce)

We might just have found the Craziest City in Eastern Europe. From Bear fights, underground crypts, castles from the middle ages to stunning waterfalls in the city's center, welcome to Jajce, Bosnia.

We spend 2 days in Eastern Europe's Craziest City, Jajce, Bosnia. This city, first of all in translation means, egg. Second, in its city center it has a Waterfall, Castle, Castle Walls, Crypts, Catacombs and a Tower simply called, Bear Tower, where prisoners used to be thrown in to fist fight bears, one on one. Join me in adventuring and learning about this historic and crazy city, built in the 14th Century, the old Capital of the Medieval Kingdom of Bosnia, Jajce.

***I do mention in the video that this is the only waterfall in a city center and I WAS wrong as other city centers have waterfalls, most of them are smaller though, my bad!!!
