Ep 06 - Bushwick, Brooklyn - STREETS BY AIR - (4K Drone NYC, New York City, Aerial Video)

Oh Bushwick...what can we say. From the Puerto Rican flag-lined blocks, the Queen Annes on Bushwick avenue, the giant luxury living spaces, to the bars and murals on Wyckoff avenue, the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn is a mix of the old and new New York.

The area, originally inhabited by the Lenape Natives, was chartered and renamed Boswijck in 1661, meaning neighborhood in the woods in 17th-century Dutch.

A working class neighborhood today, #robbybrender Bushwick is home to a pretty heterogenous population. Although Bushwick is the most populous Hispanic-American community in Brooklyn (mostly Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and other South Americans), the neighborhood is home to other longtime residents, transplants from other parts of the country, and immigrants from all over the world.

A friendly territory to Creatives, you can see the artistry bleeding through every street with murals, graffiti, music, and Bushwick's ever-growing nightlife scene.

Bronx NYC - 4K Driving Tour

This drive through The Bronx in NYC includes E Tremont Ave, Bronx River Ave and White Plains Rd. among some side streets. Recorded 10-11-22. Enjoy!

The Bronx is a borough of New York City, coextensive with Bronx County, in the U.S. state of New York. It is south of Westchester County; north and east of the New York City borough of Manhattan, across the Harlem River; and north of the New York City borough of Queens, across the East River. The Bronx has a land area of 42 square miles (109 km2) and a population of 1,472,654 in the 2020 census. If each borough were ranked as a city, the Bronx would rank as the ninth-most-populous in the U.S. Of the five boroughs, it has the fourth-largest area, fourth-highest population, and third-highest population density. It is the only borough of New York City not primarily on an island. With a population that is 54.8% Hispanic as of 2020, it is the only majority-Hispanic county in the Northeastern United States and the fourth-most-populous nationwide.

The Bronx is divided by the Bronx River into a hillier section in the west, and a flatter eastern section. East and west street names are divided by Jerome Avenue. The West Bronx was annexed to New York City in 1874, and the areas east of the Bronx River in 1895. Bronx County was separated from New York County in 1914. About a quarter of the Bronx's area is open space, including Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, the New York Botanical Garden, and the Bronx Zoo in the borough's north and center. The Thain Family Forest at the New York Botanical Garden is thousands of years old; it is New York City's largest remaining tract of the original forest that once covered the city. These open spaces are primarily on land reserved in the late 19th century as urban development progressed north and east from Manhattan.

The word Bronx originated with Faroese-born (or Swedish-born) Jonas Bronck, who established the first settlement in the area as part of the New Netherland colony in 1639. European settlers displaced the native Lenape after 1643. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the Bronx received many immigrant and migrant groups as it was transformed into an urban community, first from European countries (particularly Ireland, Germany, Italy and Eastern Europe) and later from the Caribbean region (particularly Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Haiti, Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic), as well as African American migrants from the southern United States, Panama, Honduras, West Africans, and South Asians.

The Bronx contains the poorest congressional district in the United States, the 15th. There are, however, some upper-income, as well as middle-income neighborhoods such as Riverdale, Fieldston, Spuyten Duyvil, Schuylerville, Pelham Bay, Pelham Gardens, Morris Park, and Country Club. Parts of the Bronx saw a steep decline in population, livable housing, and quality of life in the late 1960s, throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and into the early 1990s, culminating in a wave of arson in the late 1970s. The South Bronx, in particular, experienced severe urban decay. The borough began experiencing new population growth starting in the late 1990s and continuing to the present day.

Driving Downtown Streets - 149th Street - Bronx New York City NY USA - Episode 23.
Starting Point: 149th Street - .
The Bronx is the northernmost of the five boroughs of New York City, within the U.S. state of New York. It is geographically south of Westchester County; north and east of the island and borough of Manhattan to the south and west across the Harlem River; and north of the borough of Queens, across the East River. Of the five boroughs, the Bronx is the only one which has the majority of its area on the U.S. mainland and, with a land area of 42 square miles (109 km2) and a population of 1,455,444 in 2015,[1] has the fourth largest land area, the fourth highest population, and the third highest population density.[2] Since 1914, the Bronx has had the same boundaries as Bronx County, a county of New York and the third most densely populated county in the United States.[2]

The Bronx is divided by the Bronx River into a hillier section in the west, closer to Manhattan, and a flatter eastern section, closer to Long Island. East and west street addresses are divided by Jerome Avenue—the continuation of Manhattan's Fifth Avenue. The West Bronx was annexed to New York City in 1874, and the areas east of the Bronx River in 1895.[3] Bronx County was separated from New York County in 1914.[4] About a quarter of the Bronx's area is open space,[5] including Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo in the borough's north and center. A Circle Line trip around Manhattan, early 1968

From friends home movies. We leave the pier, see a white ship that, I think says Homeric, Panama on it, pass the Circle Line pier with the Department of Marine and Aviation, City of New York sign on it, see two Moran tugboats tied up to the American Export/Isbrantsen Lines pier, see the Empire State Building on a foggy or hazy/smoggy day, see the Statue of Liberty, a quick crooked shot of Ellis Island, some quick shots one of which is lower Manhattan, then a slower shot showing buildings being constructed (date?), the Brooklyn Bridge with City Hall to its left then right!, some trailer trucks on railroad flatcars by the water, see High Bridge, then another bridge I don't know the name of, then the other side of High Bridge?, then underneath the next one?, and another, then looking back at them, then junk cars by the river, a memorial (what is its name? It is out of place to be Grant's Tomb...), the Marble Hill bridge? which we see a subway train go over, the we approach Spuyten Duyvil and the Henry Hudson and Spuyten Duyvil bridges. We see some kids running along the shore, following the boat, see the open Spuyten Duyvil bridge and the Henry Hudson bridge beyond it, see the George Washington bridge off in the distance, go under the GWB and see the Little Red Lighthouse (Jeffrey's Hook, Washington Park) and ending with a look up at the roadway above.

I believe this is the absolute last stop uptown on the 1 line. Beautiful park, and this area really gives you a Long Island type feel. You are not in NYC up on 242nd Street. Broadway Joe's Pizza served me one of the best eggplant parmesan hero sandwiches that I can remember. And I can remember the delivery boy, it felt like I was in Greenwich preparing for the high school prom or something. Awesome! Revitalization
In 1997, the Bronx was designated an All America City by the National Civic League, acknowledging its comeback from the decline of the mid-century.[65] In 2006, The New York Times reported that construction cranes have become the borough's new visual metaphor, replacing the window decals of the 1980s in which pictures of potted plants and drawn curtains were placed in the windows of abandoned buildings.[66] The borough has experienced substantial new building construction since 2002. Between 2002 and June 2007, 33,687 new units of housing were built or were under way and $4.8 billion has been invested in new housing. In the first six months of 2007 alone total investment in new residential development was $965 million and 5,187 residential units were scheduled to be completed. Much of the new development is springing up in formerly vacant lots across the South Bronx.[67]

Sports
The Bronx is the home of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball.
