Dayton, Ohio is one Midwestern town that seldom gets the attention that it should. Less than an hour's drive north of Cincinnati and just 72 miles south of the state's capital, Columbus, Dayton is known for being the 'birthplace of Aviation'.

Owned by Gorilla Cinema, Galactic Cantina is a Star Wars themed pop up bar. This is the perfect place for bounty hunters and super fans of Star Wars to refuel. Staff is dressed in Star Wars garb and the drinks are all themed from the movies. We made sure to get a glass of Blue Milk.

Inside the bar itself, you will find a rare setting of old world comfort, lit by firelight and a kaleidoscope of soft, warm Tiffany lamplight. The charming underground tavern houses an eclectic collection of old time memorabilia, with the shine of copper, classic car and plane models, and ornately framed paintings and signed photographs delightfully crowding the walls and ceiling.

Cincinnati, Ohio: Unexpectedly, It's Pretty Awesome
We visited Cincinnati, Ohio. There I explored the lovely, but quiet downtown. Afterwards I drove up Vine to the Over-The Rhine urban district, one of the largest in the United States. In 2009, it was named the most dangerous neighborhood in the country. Then the city began a massive redevelopment of the area south of Liberty Street, which splits the district in two. This area became the focal point of gentrification, and many low income residents were displaced, but the area became a thriving apartment/entertainment destination, the best in the city. North of Liberty Street, however, is a different story, as you'll see when I drive through it. Later, together we visit a local restaurant and have the city's signature dish, Cincinnati Chili.
