Kaliningrad is the capital of the Russian province of the same name, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania along the Baltic Coast. Dubbed Königsberg during centuries of Prussian rule, the city was largely reconstructed after WWII.
Traces of its German heritage can be seen in the surviving Brandenburg Gate and the Riverside Fishing Village, a dining and shopping destination with re-created medieval-style buildings.

I'm taking you on a journey to Kaliningrad. Kaliningrad is a Russian exclave located on the Baltic Sea, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania. It serves as a strategic outpost for Russia in Europe. Formerly part of East Prussia and known as Königsberg, it was annexed by the Soviet Union after World War II. Today, it remains a unique geopolitical entity, distinct from the Russian mainland. It provides Russia with access to the Baltic Sea and a presence in the European Union, which can influence regional dynamics and politics in the Baltic region.
In this video, I visit a number of settlements in Kaliningrad region with traces of German past. It could happen that some members of YOUR family lived in East Prussia before or soon after the annexation of Konigsberg. Write about this in the comments, it's fascinating to read such stories!

I had the opportunity to visit Kaliningrad for a long weekend, and my word what a place! It's notoriously quite time consuming from a British perspective to get a Russian visa, but there's an exception for overland travel to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad whereby you can get issues a 72hour tourist visa. I used a recomended Travel agent, Uni-tours.ru for the application who were very helpful and went beyond to help me get my visa.

В нашем новом ролике мы расскажем вам о путешествии в город Калининград и его окрестности!
Из зимней Москвы в зимний Кёнигсберг. Такой погоды, какая сопровождала нас всю поездку, не помнят даже старожилы. Холодно, снежно, ветрено. Именно так встретила нас столица янтаря!
В третий день нашего путешествия мы отправились в приграничный город Советск, бывший Тильзит.
От автовокзала дошли до центральной площади, попутно осматривая все основные достопримечательности города, а их немало! Здесь есть старинный фонтан, памятник тильзитскому трамваю, статуя всемирно известного лося Густава, музей военной техники. После этого мы направились в сторону Российско-Литовской границы к мосту Королевы Луизы. Наши приключения на границе вы можете увидеть в этом ролике!
После этого мы отправились в город Неман, бывший Рагнит, и там посетили местную сыроварню, где посмотрели, как изготавливают сыр и отведали необычайно вкусную продукцию местных сыроваров!

Pagėgiai - what to see by the Lithuanian border next to Kaliningrad, Russia
Welcome to Pagėgiai - the gateway to Kaliningrad, Russia. This small municipality is situated right at one of the most important border points with Russia's Kaliningrad state.
As Pagėgiai is so small, there is not much to do here, but it's worth stopping at the Rambynas Regional Park if travelling in the area.
Also it is an interesting experience to go have a look at Tilžė / Tilsit / Sovetsk from the riverside and the old bridge connecting the countries.

Ciao a tutti!
Vi metto finalmente il video del mio viaggio a Kaliningrad :) Come alcuni di voi sapranno già dal mio instagram sono andata in Russia a trovare il mio ragazzo nel periodo di capodanno e quindi ho pensato di fare qualche video! Non sono riuscita a visitare tutto, soprattutto a causa del forte freddddo al quale non sono abituata lol ma spero che questi spezzoni della città vi possano piacere!
Non avevo alcuna attrezzatura e ho fatto il video dal cellulare! Per queso la qualità è un po' più bassa del solito e risulto un po' tremolante ma spero che vi possa comunque piacere!
Mi piacerebbe continuare a mettere altri travel vlogs in futuro, quando ho modo di visitare città e posti nuovi quindi mettemi tanti like pr farmi sapere se questo tipo di video vi piace! :D Nonostante il mio canale si concentra sulla musica non mi dispiace spaziare!
