Baden-Baden: Germany’s Most Russian City | How it has Changed Since the War in Ukraine
Baden-Baden is known as Germany's Russian city. From as far back as Czarist times, the spa has been popular with Russian tourists. Even writers such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and Turgenev once visited the spa town in the Black Forrest. But tourists have stayed away since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But what has changed due to the war? How are Russian and Ukrainian residents dealing with the current situation? DW reporter Lukas Stege was on location and has built up a picture.

Walking in BADEN-BADEN / Germany ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Baden-Baden is a wealthy spa town at the edge of the Black Forest in Baden Württemberg. The town is located south west Germany, near the border with France - around 1 hour by car from Strasbourg.
Baden-Baden is famous for thermal bath and the Kurhaus complex (built in 1824) with the Spielbank (casino). That is the place where also Dostoevsky gambled during his 5 week stay which makes Baden-Baden a popular destination for Russian tourists.
On this walking tour of Baden-Baden we see the centre of the town, the spa area and some shopping streets. We also visit the main sights like the Spielbank and Trinkhalle and get an impression how Baden Baden looks like outside the main tourist season in fall.

Baden-Baden lies at the northwestern border of the Black Forest mountain range on the small river Oos, just 10 km (6 mi) east of the Rhine. Nestled at the foot of the Black Forest in South Germany, Baden-Baden is a chic destination for those who fancy a dip in its famous salt- and radon-rich thermal hot springs. Baden-Baden has been a popular destination for so long that it's starting to show its age, but not to worry. Baden-Baden is still very classy, picturesque and well-maintained. Sporty types will find an abundance of opportunities to enjoy golf, tennis, horseback riding and skiing nearby in winter.

Driving in France: Autoroute A35 & A4 E25 from Haguenau to Strasbourg
In this video you can drive along on the Autoroute A35 and A4 E25 from exit Haguenau through Strasbourg in France's Grand Est Region. These highways are toll free.
Closing in on Strasbourg, lane capacity is increased to handle all local urban traffic. Additionally, recently the A355 peripheral toll road was opened that leads through traffic around Strasbourg.

Driving in France: Autoroute A35 E25 from Strasbourg to Colmar
In this video you can drive along on the Autoroute A35 E25, and N83 / D83 from Strasbourg to Colmar in the East of France. The A35 runs parallel to the German Autobahn A5 in the Rhine valley. The Rhine river is also the border between Germany and France.
Serving the Alsace region, known for its rich history, culture and amazing wines, you can notice simply by driving this motorway that it has been a disputed region in the past. Many of the town and city names are German. The architecture of some of the towns are also reminiscent of a past with German influence.
Colmar, along with cities like Mulhouse and Strasbourg are some of the main tourist destinations in the area. Strasbourg is by far the largest city in the area and I can definitely recommend visiting it. Colmar is a much smaller city, but still has a very impressive and well-preserved old town. In a future video I will attempt to give you an impression of it.
As for the road driven in this video, it may not be the most scenic, but the Vosges mountains are not far away. If you want to get an impression on what the Vosges mountain roads are like, here is an earlier video that I recorded the same weekend:

Places to see in ( Baden Baden - Germany ) Museum Frieder Burda
The Museum Frieder Burda is an art museum in Baden-Baden , built to a design by the architect Richard Meier and opened in October 2004. The private collector's museum adjoins the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden in the Lichtentaler Allee . In addition to works of classical modernism and contemporary art from the collection of the builder Frieder Burda regularly special exhibitions are shown.
The American architect Richard Meier has designed a bright, open building with two large halls, two cabinets and a basement. The three floors are accessed via walk-in ramps as in older Meier buildings. The construction of the Staatliche Kunsthalle by Hermann Billing , whose sequence of smaller and larger rooms is still considered a particularly successful example of well-proportioned and functional museum architecture, is 100 years older than the museum is connected by a glass bridge; The content of the bridge is also part of the program: there are joint exhibitions that cover both museums.
The new building with around 1000 square meters of exhibition space cost around 15 million euros and was fully supported by the Frieder Burda Foundation. For the two-year construction, no public funds were used. The museum was built by the Baden-Baden architect Peter W. Kruse.
The Frieder Burda Collection includes about 1,000 works by modern and contemporary art, including paintings, sculptures, objects and works on paper. The focus is on: German Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism, German painting from 1960, Picasso, painting from 1990. At the museum's opening, the collection was to be seen for the first time in its main focuses. Around 150 of a total of 550 artworks at that time included the opening exhibition in the new building and the adjoining Staatlichen Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. Founding director was from 2004 to 2006, the Karlsruhe art historian Klaus Gallwitz .

Driving in Germany and France: Bundesstraße B9 & Autoroute A35 from Kandel (A65) to Haguenau
In this video we start on the Autobahn A65 just Northwest of Karlsruhe before taking the B9 exit in the direction of Strasbourg. Later in the video we cross the border and make our way South on the A35 in the direction of Strasbourg. The video ends near Haguenau on the A35.

Some of you might have already heard about a beautiful city on the border of the Black Forest - the city of Baden-Baden. Well known for its luxury, thermal springs and the casino, the city regularly welcomes high-level celebrities. We were able to discover the young lifestyle of Baden-Baden and capture it in a short film.
