OFF GRID On the Most Remote Island on Earth
This is the Hakaui Valley on the remote island of Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas, French Polynesia.
With the nearest continental mass over 3000 miles away, this is one of the most remote islands on earth, and the Hakaui valley cannot be reached by road, plane, or anything other than a boat or a 17km hike from the nearest town of Taiohae.
The island itself is a full 3 hour flight from the capitol of Tahiti!
For this adventure, I'm seeing if I can survive for 24 hours in this jungle without electricity (other than minimal solar light), refrigeration, communication with the outside world, and the basic comforts we take for granted. Here they live off the grid, mostly living off the land foraging, growing their own food, and hunting for what they eat. This is true farm to table! This is a unique opportunity to see what it's like to live off the land, to be in harmony with the environment, and to get a peek into Marquesan culture.

Oggi ad Italian Globetrotters parleremo di come si vive a Vanuatu, un arcipelago di ben 83 isole che si trova nel mezzo dell' Oceano Pacifico, a circa 3 ore di volo dall’Australia. Anche se per molti è un Paese sconosciuto, non perdetevi questa intervista interessantissima, per capire come si vive dall’altra parte del mondo, in una realtà totalmente diversa dalla nostra e dove il mondo sembra essersi fermato. Pensate che Vanuatu qualche anno fa è stato eletto il Paese più felice del mondo. Abbiamo intervistato Andrea, un ragazzo italiano della provincia di Vicenza, che dopo aver vissuto 10 anni in Australia, ha deciso di fare un’esperienza nelle isole del Pacifico, e anche se con qualche difficoltà, se n’è innamorato e oggi non tornerebbe mai più alla vita frenetica e caotica a cui siamo abituati. Infatti se vi piace la vita rilassata e semplice , sempre in spiaggia, senza stress, e dove i valori sono ancora forti, le isole Vanuatu potrebbero essere il posto giusto per voi!
Inoltre Andrea gestisce un sito per trovare lavoro in tutto il Sud Pacifico, quindi se volete fare un’esperienza lavorativa in un paradiso come lo sono queste isole, non perdetevi questa intervista da uno dei Paesi più lontani al mondo dall’Italia.

Mele Cascades, Vanuatu - Tour of Vanuatu’s Best Waterfall
I had an epic day at the Mele Cascades. It was one of the most impressive waterfalls I have seen in my life. Luckily one of the locals told me about the waterfall otherwise I probably would have left without seeing it. Later on, I enjoyed a latte at Tana Coffee where you can buy coffee sourced from Tana Island.

The Islander Vanuatu Sasara Twin Waterfall
The Sasara Twin Waterfall is one of the most famous and spectacular waterfall on Vanua Lava Island. You will be amazed by its beauty. Located on the North West part of the island, it is surrounded by luscious tropical forest, and flows directly into the sea. You can only access it by boat. Whether you are coming from Sola or Rah Island (like we did), it will take at least 4hr boat ride. So it is essential you check the marine forecast before you plan your escapade.

There are several shore excursions to choose from including a visit to Iorafa Cultural Village, which is a step back in time and an opportunity to learn how the local people have survived in the jungle for centuries.

The dive island just 20 minutes out of Port Vila, Vanuatu
Guest: My wife and I have been there before. It is amazing again!
On this years’ visit we have been astounded by the biodiversity, colours and the varieties of fish, crustacean and eels, etc.
We have swam the top of the reef over two weeks while there and are so pleased with the recovery evidenced everywhere and the extent of pristine coral at the ends where it is creating up from the depths to engulf about 80 metres of the reef top.
