I had the opportunity to visit Kaliningrad for a long weekend, and my word what a place! It's notoriously quite time consuming from a British perspective to get a Russian visa, but there's an exception for overland travel to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad whereby you can get issues a 72hour tourist visa. I used a recomended Travel agent, Uni-tours.ru for the application who were very helpful and went beyond to help me get my visa.

Hot Tubbing and Bowling in the Small Village of Slavske, Ukraine Just Weeks Before the War
In this episode, we take a trip to the snowy, forested skiing village of Slavske where we enjoy a day of exploring the village and have a spontaneous bowling competition. In the evening we hop in the hot tub for a romantic night and to soothe our freezing bodies. The cabin is so rustic and quaint, and the snowy wonderland is a treat to witness. We were in Ukraine just weeks before Russia invaded and started the war. As with all our videos in this series, we want to make it clear that we fully support Ukraine.

THE REAL UKRAINE ???????? (Rakhiv, Carpathian Mountains)
We made it to the geographical centre of Europe in Ukraine. The Austro-Hungarian momument is located in Rakhiv in the heart of the Ukrainian Carpathians. This area, home to an ethnic group called the Hutsul's, feels like a cradle of west Ukrainian culture. After the monument of the centre of Europe we set off for our beautiful guest house in the remote Carpathian village of Kvasy where we explore the village and try a local 'Hustul' dish & more Borscht (of course!).

Vilko vaikai - Wolfskinder - nutylėtos tragedijos įamžinimas
Filme netikslumas: Draugija „Edelweiss“ (gėlės pavadinimas) įkurta ne Vilniuje, o Klaipėdoje 1991 m.
„Vilko vaikai“ itin specifinė vaikų grupė patyrusi be galo sudėtingas aplinkybes ir sąlygas, badą, prievartą ir kitus sunkumus. Tai vaikai iš Vokietijos dalies vadinamos Rytų Prūsija, Karaliaučiaus krašto 1944–48 buvo atskirti nuo šeimų arba liko našlaičiais. Jų buvo apie 7000. Vieni badaudami atėjo į Lietuvą, kitus į Lietuvą parsiveždavo Karaliaučiaus kr. (nuo 1946 Kaliningrado sr.) turguose prekiaujantys lietuvių ūkininkai (vaikus jiems palikdavo motinos ar giminaičiai), kartais moterys juos imdavo eidamos elgetauti. Daugiausia tokie vaikai dirbo valstiečių ūkiuose. Šie vaikai Lietuvoje gyveno nelegaliai: Kaliningrado srities vokiečiai SSRS valdžios buvo laikomi užsieniečiais, iki 5 dešimtmečio pabaigos neturėjo teisės gyventi Lietuvoje. Daugelis 1940 bei vėliau gimusių ir Lietuvoje atsidūrusių vilko vaikų buvo įvaikinti; neįvaikintiems vyresniems vaikams, kad galėtų įsidarbinti, dažnai būdavo gaunami suklastoti dokumentai su kitu vardu, gimimo vieta, lietuvių tautybe. Nemokėdami kalbos, išbadėję, ne vienas pasiligoję ir silpni patyrė itin sunkią dalį. Savaime suprantama, oficialios statistikos, dokumentų kiek tokių vaikų buvo nėra. Priglausti tokį vaiką buvo pavojinga – “ fašistų vaikas”, buvo galima susilaukti represijų. Per visą sovietmetį tai buvo neliečiama tema, niekas jos neviešino. Kiekvieno “Vilko vaiko” likimas unikalus, kaip ir žmonių kurie priglaudė, pamaitino o neretai ir užaugino kaip savo šeimos narius.
Tik po 1990 m. Lietuvai atkūrus nepriklausomybę, Lietuvoje gyvenantys vokiečių kilmės vaikai susibūrė į bendriją “Edelweiss”, vėliau pavadintą “Edelweiss- Wolfskinder”. 1991 m. bendrijoje buvo įregistruoti 58 vilko vaiko dalią patyrę Rytų Prūsijos vaikai. 1997 m. bendrija vienijo 219 narių, 2000 m. – 260, 2009 m. – 114, 2015 m. – 63, 2019 m. – 39. Tauragės skyrius šiuo metu yra pats didžiausias. Jam priklauso 17 senyvo amžiaus Vilko vaikų, kurie būdami dar visai maži matė, kaip Rytų Prūsijoje žūva jų tėvai, vyresni broliai ir seserys.
Įgyvendinant projektą „Vilko vaikai: nutylėtos tragedijos įamžinimas“ buvo įamžinti 14-kos žmonių prisiminimai. Dėkojame visiems, kurie išdrįso prisiminti ir papasakoti šią sukrečiančią istoriją. Dėkojame vokiečių bendrijai „Edel Weiss – Wolfskinder“ ir pirmininkei Stefanijai Mačiulskienei, už bendradarbiavimą įgyvendinant projektą.
Projektą finansavo Lietuvos kultūros taryba ir Tauragės rajono savivaldybė.

Today Devang visits the famous Central Clock Tower of Lviv where you can get the best views of the whole city. He flies the drone from the top of the tower to get the most incredible shots of the this magical city only a few weeks before the Russian invasion. Then he and I go out for lunch in a spooky and magical medieval restaurant.

Eastern Europe Road Trip Time-Lapse (12 countries) - 05. Ukraine (Kiev)
This is the time-lapse of our crazy road trip from Greece to Russia and back.
The purpose of the trip was to reach Moscow and then we would discuss our trip back. We then decided not to take the same route, but to continue to Belarus and pass through some more countries :)
The road trip was executed within 13 days, we wish we could spend some more, it would make it a lot less tiring.
5700 km in total, which is about 3540 miles.
14 hours of time-lapse footage, which is about 84 hours or real driving time!
The time-lapse speed is x6. You can increase or decrease the speed of the video, through YouTube settings, to your liking.
Ideally, if you like this kind of videos, you can play your own music in the background and maybe enjoy the video even more.
NO editing has been done to the videos. The dash-cam started recording when the engine was turned on and stopped when the engine was shut off. This means that the video includes footage to gas stations, hotels, bars and restaurants, stops for visiting the toilet, wrong turns, U-turns, spending hours at border control, dead end roads and anything you can expect going wrong in such a trip :)

Arriving in Lviv, The Hogwarts of Ukraine | A City Tour and Our Tiny Airbnb Loft Apartment
In this episode we arrive in Lviv by train coming from Slavske where we had our skiing and hot tubbing trip. We tour the streets of Lviv and discover that it has a very Harry Potter/Hogwarts vibe with the old-style romantic architecture. Then we check into our Airbnb with our Ukrainian host. We give a tour of our tiny cubicle loft apartment and then venture outside in the freezing cold again to the supermarket to load up on groceries. Lviv is a magical place!
