Varkala is a beautiful coastal town situated in the state of Kerela, India.The town is famous for its beaches, delicious and wide variety of seafood and most importantly for its wellness spas. The best time to visit Varkala is during the winter season (Nov-Jan) as the weather is pleasant during these months. The summers are extremely humid and hot while in the monsoon season the town experiences heavy rainfall.
The beaches in Varkala are amongst the cleanest beaches in India. The water at Papanasam Beach is considered to have holy, sin-cleansing properties as believed by many who visit it yearly to wash away their sins! The town also has some of the most ancient temples in India. But the major attraction are the beaches and the Ayurvedic spas. I had recently visited Varkala and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing trips I’ve had in a long time.

???? Day 1: North Cliff and Varkala Beach ????
Our day begins with a refreshing auto ride to North Cliff from Varkala station, where we settle into the serene surroundings. We explore the pristine Varkala Beach, strolling along the golden sands and soaking up the breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. As we explore North Cliff by foot, we stumble upon Cafe Italiano for lunch, but unfortunately, the food and service leave much to be desired. Undeterred, we make our way to Bindu's Cafe, where we indulge in an amazing cold coffee while enjoying the soothing ocean breeze. Finally, we witness a breathtaking sunset at the horizon and end our day's adventures at the enchanting Varkala Aquarium.
???? Day 2: Jatayu Earth Centre and North Cliff Exploration ????
On our second day, we rent a scooty and embark on a thrilling journey to Jatayu Earth Centre. This awe-inspiring destination offers one of the most amazing experiences in Kerala, where we explore colossal statues, immerse ourselves in nature, and take in panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. After an awe-inspiring adventure, we return to North Cliff, where we indulge in some shopping, capturing the essence of local crafts and souvenirs. And, of course, we couldn't resist another round of refreshing cold coffee at Bindu's Cafe, savoring the flavors and unwinding amidst the peaceful ambiance. With our hearts full of memories, we bid farewell to Varkala, ending our stay on a high note.

Getaway Varkala
Varkala, a calm and quiet hamlet, lies on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district. It has several tourist attractions that include a beautiful beach, a 2000-year-old Vishnu Temple and the Ashramam - Sivagiri Mutt a little distance from the beach.
The Papanasam Beach (also called as Varkala Beach), which is ten kilometers away from Varkala, is renowned for a natural spring. Which is considered to have medicinal and curative properties. A dip in the holy waters at this beach is believed to purge the body of impurities and the soul of all sins; hence the name 'Papanasam Beach'.
A two thousand-year-old shrine the Janardhanaswamy Temple stands on the cliffs overlooking the beach, a short distance away. The Sivagiri Mutt, founded by the great religious reformer and philosopher Sree Narayana Guru (1856 - 1928) is also close by. The Samadhi (the final resting place) of the Guru here attracts thousands of devotees every year during the Sivagiri Pilgrimage days - 30th December to 1st January. Sree Narayana Guru propagated the ideology: one caste, one religion and one God, in a society torn by the taboos of caste system.
Varkala offers excellent accommodation facilities for tourists and is fast becoming a popular health resort with many Ayurvedic massage centres.
Attractions: Beach, mineral water springs, the Sivagiri Mutt and a 2000-year- old Vishnu Temple.

Janardana Swami Temple is a 2000-year-old temple situated in the municipality of Varkala city in Trivandrum. It is also known as Varkala Temple. Janardana Swami is a form of Lord Vishnu.
Sarada Mutt is a Saraswati temple consecrated by Sree Narayana Guru, in Sivagiri, at Varkala municipality of Trivandrum in the Indian state of Kerala. Gurudevan performed the pratishta of the deity at Sarada Mutt on the full moon day in April 1912. The Sarada Consecration Committee had Dr Palpu as its president.
Anchuthengu Fort was established by the British East India Company in 1696 after the Queen of Attingal gave permission in 1694 to do so. Located near the town of Anchuthengu, the fort served as the first signalling station for ships arriving from England.
Varkala Tunnel System, situated in municipality of Varkala of Trivandrum, Kerala, India, also known as the Varkala Canal, is one of the historic sites of the region. This site was constructed by the Travancore Kingdom to establish an inland waterway that was meant to serve as a trade route.

1.Munnar-Munnar is a quaint town and an idyllic hill station located in the Western Ghats of Kerala. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft in the district of Idukki, Munnar used to be the summer resort of the British rulers during colonial times. It is known for its green belt of lush forests and unending expanse of tea estates and is also home to some of the endangered species of animals like Neelakurinji and Nilgiri Tahr.
2.Alleppey-Alappuzha (Alleppey) is known as ‘the Venice of the East’. Offering the best tourist places in Alleppey, this charming place is the hub of Kerala’s backwaters and is home to a huge network of backwaters and more than thousand houseboats. An uninterrupted view of life in the backwaters fringed with coconut trees can be enjoyed from a houseboat.
