Sahasralinga is a pilgrimage center in Sirsi Taluk in Uttara Kannada district. Nearest popular tourist places are Yaana and Gokarna. It is in the river Shalmala and is famous for being the location where around one thousand Shivalingas that are carved on the rocks in the river, are scattered around.
The Sahasralinga or the hundred carved Shiv Lingas with Nandi (bull), Lord Shiva’s vehicle in front of it is embedded on the bed of the Shalmala river bed. The sight indeed is one of rare spectacle.

Yana Cave and Temple -
Yana is a village located in forests of the Kumta and Sirsi Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India which is known for the unusual karst rock formations. It is located in the Sahyadri mountain range of the Western Ghats, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Karwar port, 39 kilometres (24 mi) from Sirsi, 46 kilometres from Gokarna and 31 kilometres (19 mi) from Kumta. Yana is one of the wettest villages in the world and it is cleanest village in Karnataka and second cleanest village in India. The two unique rock outcrops near the village are a tourist attraction and easily approachable by a small trek through 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) of thick forests from Sirsi Route and 2-3 kilometres from Kumta Route.
Yana Caves is famous for these two massive rock outcrops known as the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara (Shikhara means hill). The huge rocks are composed of solid black, crystalline karst limestone. Bhairaveshwara Shikhara is 120 metres (390 ft) in height, while the Mohini Shikhara, which is smaller, is 90 metres (300 ft) in height. Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage centre because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a Swayambhu (self manifested, or that which is created by its own accord) linga has been formed. Water drips from the roof over the linga, adding to the sanctity of the place.

The Marikamba Temple in Sirsi, Karnataka, India, is a Hindu temple dedicated to a form of the goddess Durga. It is also known as Marigudi, with Doddamma denoting the elder sister of all Mariammas in Karnataka. The central icon is an eight-armed image of Durga, also known by the names Renuka and Yellamma. It was built in 1688. It is 83 kilometres to the east of Gokarna.

Sahasralinga (literally 1000 lingas) is a pilgrimage place, located 15 km from Sirsi town. The site is on the banks of Shalmala river, where numerous Lingas (Lord Shiva’s form) have been carved on the boulders. Surrounded by forests, a part of this river hides an incredible heritage and a piece of history. The carvings were done in dark grey color, they seem to be hard granite stone. Checking its legend, these images were installed by the ruler Sadashivaraya of the Vijayanagar Kingdom, who ruled between 1678 and 1718. Most of them have the Nandi (Shiva’s vehicle) carved on them. The biggest one of them is around 6 feet high, 12 feet long and could weigh a few tons. Getting into the middle of the river, one can find carvings in every boulder almost.
