But this week when the daughter preferred her marriage to be a simple but low-key affair, the celebrity-hungry media catapulted it as one of the events of 1997. Even before Priyanka Gandhi's marriage to a Delhi based industrialist Robert Vadra became a media event with attendant controversies. On February 18th, the day of the wedding the paparazzi did not want to miss any footage they can wrap. Some gathered outside the bridegroom's house at the Capitals New Friends Colony and others waited for the baraat to arrive at Janpath, the house of the Gandhis. The star guests of course were a big draw for the biggest photo opportunity came when the newlyweds met Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is an Indian politician, daughter of Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. She also serves as Trustee of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. She is the granddaughter of Feroze and Indira Gandhi, and is a member of the wider Nehru-Gandhi family.
Robert Rajendra Vadra is an Indian businessman and husband of Priyanka Vadra. He is the son-in-law of Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

Sri Lankan Lagoon Crab Red curry/ Sri Lankan Mud Crab curry. The best delicacy from Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Mud crab also known as the lagoon crab is the no 1 or easily the most famous delicacy from the island. The Sri lankan Mud crab is sort after by many foodies, chefs and restaurateurs alike. It is also one of the no 1 delicacies shipped to other nearby countries' for the famous chilli crab dish.
It wasnt always like that, as a child i remember my grand mother buying this off people who came from door to door with hand woven baskets filled with these mud crabs, at that time long ago this was the best buy specially for large families because of the low price. Because in comparison to the sea crab the mud crab in Sri lanka was very cheap and not consumed by many. Yes there was a time that the mud crab was severely underrated and considered a poor mans food. I would like to think that the Mud crab is looking at the once over glorified sea crab and saying; Look at me now!.
It does however have a very specific and unique taste and has a stronger sweeter flavor as opposed to the sea crab. If cooked properly and given the due respect, this is one of the best shellfish/ crustaceans you will ever have.
Sri lanka has many lagoons and out of which only certain districts farm these as a business and you would find all the lagoons with these creatures roaming freely. Its mainly due to the very difficult and hard work you have to put into nesting and growing them into a sizable feast.
In my travels around Sri Lanka i realised that in each district that you find these lagoon crabs are cooked it in different ways. Although the base is fundamentally a curry, the cooking method and taste is quite different.
I have prepared a red curry using JAFFNA curry powder and this is one of the most common recipes in Sri lanka to cook crabs in general, although the Jaffna crab curry is different recipe altogether. There are various methods and cooking styles in Sri lanka alone which brings out the fantastic flavour of the lagoon crab and i will be sharing all these various recipes' on my channel THE MINORITY TASTE.
INGREDIENTS' for the (1.2 kg) Mud crab Red curry:
1 big bombay onion chopped
1 big tomato chopped.
1 whole garlic chopped
3 inch ginger root chopped.
Curry leaves.
Pandan leaves.
6 table spoons of JAFFNA curry powder.
2 cups of thick coconut milk.
1 1/2 cup of water.
A little oil to stirfry
salt to taste.
juice of one whole lime.
Moringa leaves.

I stayed with the local hostel to learn the Sri Lankan cooking style. The sri lankan cuisine is very similar to the way food are in south india but it tastes a lot less spicier and this isnt the opinion of an Indian but everyone who has been to both Sri Lanka and India.
It was a very fun session because I learned how to cook the meal in coconut milk and that too with a lot of other foreign tourists involved.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress Sri Lanka
According to inscriptions found in the caves which honeycomb the base of the rock fortress, Sigiriya served as a place of religious retreat as far back as the third century BC, when Buddhist monks established refuge in the locale. It wasn’t until the fifth century AD, however, that Sigiriya rose briefly to supremacy in Sri Lanka, following the power struggle which succeeded the reign of Dhatusena (455-473) of Anuradhapura. King Dhatusena had two sons, Mogallana, by one of the most desired and finest of his queens, and Kassapa, by a less significant consort. Upon hearing that Mogallana had been declared heir to the throne, Kassapa rebelled, driving Mogallana into exile in India and imprisoning his father, King Dhatusena. The legend of Dhatusena’s subsequent demise offers an enlightening illustration of the importance given to water in early Sinhalese civilization.
Threatened with death if he refused to reveal the whereabouts of the state treasure, Dhatusena agreed to show his errant son its location if he was permitted to bathe one final time in the great Kalawewa Tank, of which the construction he had overseen. Standing within the tank, Dhatusena poured its water through his hands and told Kassapa that this alone was his treasure. Kassapa, none too impressed, had his father walled up in a chamber and left him to die. Mogallana, meanwhile, vowed to return from India and reclaim his inheritance. Kassapa, making preparations for the expected invasion, constructed a new dwelling on top of the 200-metre-high Sigiriya rock – a combination of pleasure palace and indestructible fortress, which Kassapa intended would emulate the legendary abode of Kubera, the god of wealth, while a new city was established around its base. According to folklore, the entire fortress was built in just seven years, from 477 to 485 AD.
The long-awaited invasion finally materialized in 491, Mogallana having raised an army of Tamil mercenaries to fight his cause. Despite the benefits of his indestructible fortress, Kassapa, in an act of fatalistic bravado, descended from his rocky abode and rode boldly out on an elephant at the head of his troops to meet the attackers on the plains below. Unfortunately for Kassapa, his elephant took fright and bolted leading the battle. His troops, thinking he was retreating, fell back and left him to face off the battle. Facing capture and defeat, Kassapa killed himself. Following Mogallana’s quest, Sigiriya was handed over to the Buddhist monks, after which its caves once again became home to religious ascetics seeking peace and solitude. The site was finally abandoned in 1155, after which it remained largely forgotten, except for brief periods of military use by the Kingdom of Kandy in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, until being rediscovered by the British in 1828.

Vlog 004 - Exploring Magnificent Kandalama
Kandalama is a village in Sri Lanka. It is located within Central Province. Kandalama is home for one of Sri Lanka's first five-star hotels, Heritance Kandalama and Kaludiya Pokuna Archeological Forest.
The ancient irrigation tank built by King Vasabha, 1700 years ago is situated at Kandalama. Nestling at the foot of Ereulagala 696m (above M.S.L) and Dikkandahena 618m (above M.S.L), the village is situated at the Northern end of the Matale hills, and the beginning of the dry plains. The village lies on the border of the intermediate and dry zones.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the COVID-19 pandemic will result in a contraction of the tourism sector by 20% to 30% in 2020.
This estimate is likely to be conservative for countries relying on foreign tourists, as the recent data on daily air traffic indicate a drop of almost 80% since January 2020.
While many economic sectors are expected to recover once restrictive measures are lifted, the pandemic will probably have a longer-lasting effect on international tourism.
This is largely due to reduced consumer confidence and the likelihood of longer restrictions on the international movement of people.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), in previous viral epidemics, the average recovery time for visitors to a destination was about 19 months.
